....what are my chances of getting one for 7 nights at a 7 month window?

I think I'm reading from these boards that they are hard to get. Even in the off-season?:(

Since there are only 27 GV's at OKW and 68,000 members in DVC, they are in high demand. You'll never know until you call.

Some have been able to have an OKW owner help secure the reservation before 7 months. You might ask on the rent/trade board for assistance with that.

Good Luck!! :)

At the end of September, you shouldn't have to much of a problem at all.Kids are already back to school then, and most parents don't want to take them out that early in the school year.

Doc, do you mean trading a ressie or having an OKW owner make a ressie and then cancel at the 7 month window for a non OKW owner to pick it up? (while cool idea, I don't know that that's necessarily legal, but then I don't know much about this type of thing anyway.)

Just curious about this as in 2004 or 2005, I may want to try and secure a GV with a BCV points and wondering how it all plays out.

I do know from watching the boards the past year, that there are people who are on the wait list who do get GVs, even in the busier seasons. The stinky part about that is you never know when or if you will get it.

I rented my points to someone last September for a grand villa at OKW. I made the ressie a month before her arrival.

Obviously, I am not Doc. I'm sure he meant for the OP to use the Rent/Trade Board to find an OKW owner willing to either rent the OP some OKW points or to trade an OKW reservation for a reservation at the OP's home resort. In other words, the OKW owner makes a reservation for a GV for the OP to use. The OP makes a ressie at her home resort for the OKW owner to use. Any discrepancy in the number of points needed for the two reservations can be taken care of by a point transfer. So there wouldn't be anything to cancel or pick up at 7 months and nothing even remotely "illegal" to worry about.

Booking at the 11 month window is the best way to ensure getting a coveted GV reservation. Renting or Trading is something to keep in mind when you get ready to try for a GV for your vacation.

Good luck!

Great response! My thoughts exactly.

GV's are available within 7 months throughout the year, but I wouldn't depend on getting one for any specific dates at 7 months. Making arrangements with an OKW owner will allow the peace of mind far in advance. Nothing illegal about havinf an owner make ressies for you and then transferring the same number of points to their account- or any other arrangement you wish to make.

Enjoy!

On the 3rd of January I booked an OKW GV for Sept 13 - 20. The CM said there were still plenty available. For that time in September you might have a better chance at the 7 month window then you would at higher peak times. Good Luck on getting your GV.

I sure hope by getting the GV it won't spoil us too much ;)

We own at OKW, but didn't decide to rent a GV last year until 6 months out. We got the first week of May at 6 months out with no problem. I think that May and September are probably some of the slowest times (January too) because kids are just starting school in September and the school year is starting to wind down in May. I think that most parents don't want their kids to miss the beginning or end of the school year.

I just booked a GV at OKW for Sept 21-27. I am going to change my reservation to BWV at the 7 month window. I am not sure if I want a GV there, but probably can't get one anyway. I may want the space of 2- 2 bedrooms. I think at 7 months for Sept you may be able to get a GV. I am going to make the change on Feb 26. Maybe that will leave open the one we booked already. I always like the GV at OKW if I am going to stay there. That is the priviledge of the 11 month window. Good luck with your reservations.
