A grand adventure of a lifetime! May 2014 ( THE FINAL)

The last few updates were so good! As I said before, it's great that Bill came along and enjoyed the day with you guys.

Oh, let me tell ya, even having all boys, you still need to work in a little character time. King Louis is a good character to visit with as it used to be a bit hard to find him.

In all of our trips to the Animal Kingdom, we have never seen the Flights of Wonder show. Even though you didn't capture the bird mid-flight, the pictures were still great.

Gosh, I know that I'm commenting all out of order but I'm trying to post on everything that I read. ;) I agree with you on the flowers in the park. They are all so pretty and the colors so vibrant.

Yay for enjoying the Nemo show! The puppets and performers are pretty cool. Having said that, it's not our favorite show and really missed that the Festival of the Lion King was closed during our last trip.

Awww, the boys had reached their limit by the time dinner rolled around. Table service meals can take a while especially if the restaurant is busy. Get the kids (and adults) sitting down and relaxing after a busy day and it can make for a bunch of sleepy folks.

But, the pools at the resort perked everybody up! As you well know, we are big fans of the CBR and think that it's the perfect resort for our family.

Yeah I learned that about character meets a little late but it still worked out.

The Flights of Wonder show for us way just ok but it would be worth seeing at least once.

Festival of the Lion King was closed when we were there as well. I have seen it back in 2001 when I went to Disney for the 1st time and I remember loving it.

Sit down dinners are good and bad. I think the next time we would have less of them and more QS. It just takes soooooo much time out of the parks.

I can not thank you for answering all my questions about CBR. That place is amazing!!! OH yes that pool was like the fountain of youth. Instanly everyone was recharged.

I think we need to make time to see the bird show at AK next trip - every review of it I read is positive but we just haven't made it there in the past

Glad the boys liked the rides in Dinoland! And getting on them so many times in a row is great - definitely not the norm, for Dinosaur particularly

The Nemo musical is great - especially considering there was no music in the original movie. Though they did a good job getting the due behind the music in Frozen to do the music for the Nemo musical

oh gosh, they look exhausted at Rain Forest cafe

That does look like a fun pool -especially for three energetic boys. And to have a lovely drink to complement the setting you were so hoping for much have really brought a smile to your face :goodvibes

CBR is one of my top resorts I would love to stay at. I really want to get their pirates themed rooms.

The bird show was ok but you should at least try it once.

Yeah I did not think that was normal. We just were soooo lucky on this trip!

I really enjoyed Nemo. I would love to see it again. The boys really enjoyed it as well.

Oh you better believ they were tired but the ysome how gain steam once they hit the pool.

That pool was the best pool we have ever been to. I would stay at CBR again in a heartbeat!

After all that angst about what resort to pick, I am so glad you felt the Caribbean had the best pool for your three pirates!!

AK is such a huge park, and even though there are not as many rides, I do feel it is tough to get it all done in a day! Great pictures! I like the fogginess in some as it makes you feel that Florida humidity!

It would have been pretty cool to be part of history in the Poly's pool but watching how much the boys enjoyed CBR pool was very satisfying.

I really thought I remembered AK to be a half day park but found out that was not the case. Florida humidity oh yes!

The day had finally come. This was to be the day I waited for in anticipation. I just could not wait to see the boys faces as they experienced Star Wars in real life! Now I guess I really did not plan this one well since we would be going on opening day! WOW opening day what was I thinking???? The crowds were expected to be HUGE!!! We wanted to make sure the boys would have a chance to do Jedi Training so that meant getting up at the crack of dawn to be at the park at least 45 minutes before rope drop. Would I really want Bill to have to go through that axiety all over again? We both decided that if we had any chance of beating the dark side it would mean Bill should meet us at the the park sometime after rope drop. I could get the boys signed up for Jedi Training and he could meet us afterwards.

Now of all the hours of time I spent planing our trip I just did not feel ready for Star Wars Weekend. For one thing I was not sure what time we would get for Jedi Training or if we would get a time period. I had no true feel on how long lines would be or really when to make our FP+. I finally decided to arrange the FP+ for late afternoon before dinner and we would just have to let things happen naturally. I was not comfortable with this at all especially since we would be dealing with soooo many people. But this was the best iternerary I could come up with considering the cirumstances

Sign up for Jedi Training
9:10 am Sci Fi Character Breakfast
Motorcade Parade
FP+ Toy Story
FP+ Great Movie Ride
5:50 Dinner at Mama Melrose
FP+ Star Tours
Fantasmic

It would be a very basic itenerary at best and I just had the bite the bullet and go for it!
When they first let us into the park they led us down the main street to a stage where storm tropers were deciding if they should let us in or not. It was very tight and very crowded. WAY more than Magic Kingdom at rope drop. I was sooooo glad that Bill had decided to come a little later. The pre show was really cool and I did get a few pictures.

Once the crowds were released we took the short cut straight to Jedi Trianing. I was shocked at how many people were already waiting in the line. The line just did not ever seem to end but at least it was all shaded by trees and foliage. It was actullly very pretty and made the wait a little easier to deal with. The longer we waited the more I worried the boys would not get their chance. We finally got to the front and the nice man who waited on us gave us a few choices to pick from. Since we wanted to be sure we had time for or ADR at Sci Fi and also ample time to see the parade we choose the 12:30 slot. The boys felt sweet victory as they were accepted as one of the elite to train.

Now that we had that accomplished I had hoped to meet up with Bill who had promised he would join us. We sat down a while to look at the map and get an idea of what we should do next since we had some time to kill before our breakfast at Sci Fi. The boys started to get restless so we took a stroll at one of the special Star War gift shops. I was about to tell Jaden to wait and get a Star Wars toy at home expecting them to be way over priced but for some reason the Star Wars figures he picked out was cheaper than they would be a Walmart. The lady working at the counter told us that she thought they had priced some of the items wrong but that until it was corrected she would sell it to us for that price. Wow how can you go wrong. Feeling pretty good about his purchase we came out of the store to find Bill sitting with the rest of the family. Can you imagine my happiness! We decided as a group to at least head over to Sci Fi and go from there. On our walk we could not believe our eyes! Star Tours was only a 10 minutes wait! Even though we had a FP+ for later in the evening it was a no brainer. The boys love the ride. I just thought it was ok. Guess I am kind of old fashion and like the real rides instead of a simualted one. We only had about 10 miuntes before our ADR but I could not help but get a shot of Chewy. I caught it right before his next customer for the meet and greet. How about that a great picture and I did not even have to wait an hour like everyone else.

We made it to our ADR with only 5 minutes to spare. The hostess lead us inside whom we were then greeted by Darth Vader and one of the Fett boys. I got a chance to show off my Disney Bound Storm Troper outfit.

Darth Vader and Boba did not sign autographs in person but we were given a card with their autograph already on it.

Wow that was the best! Meeting popular guys like that and no wait was perfect! After our meet and greet time we were lead to our car. I was really glad because I thought with the size of our group we would not be able to fit in one. A Star Wars movie was playing and everyone seemed to really be into the movie.

Thet told us there would be a surprise served and we found out it was this drink. It came in a glowing clinder and was smoking. I really could not capture it as well as it looking in real life. It was called Strawberry surprise. When you drank it your mouth would come across a round spongy shape that would "POP" which I assume was the surprise. Can anyone tell what that was? Our whole group tried to found out but never did get the answer.

These guys came by with flash lights looking for trash and all the junk they could find. I tried to tell them I had a whole house full of junk if they wanted to search it.

When we had finished our meals the waitress came back and told the boys they had passed and gave them each a drivers licence

We had a great time and I was sooooo glad I spent my whole morning trying to get that ADR. It was sooooo worth it! Unfortunity I wanted to have at least an hour and 15 minutes to search for a great spot for the motorcade Parade but we were looking at only having 45 once we got out of Sci Fi. Would we manage to fight through the crowds and get an least a spot where we could see the parade?

"and we would just have to let things happen naturally. I was not comfortable with this at all" - spoken like a true Disney planner :rotfl:

So glad things worked out and the boys got a Jedi Training time slot! :thumbsup2

And glad Bill showed up - definitely seems like skipping rope drop for him is the way to go.

Glad you enjoyed the meal so much - while they aren't cheap, especially if you have somewhat limited time it is a great way to meet a bunch of characters that you would have to wait in lines for hours to see

You hit the nail on the head! I noticed the Character meal was a big hit with the boys! While I would say the food was ok I would say what was worth the price was seeing many characters that we would normally have to wait in line for an hour each to see. Instead we were being fed, kept cool, and entertained at the same time:thumbsup2

Another fabulous, enlightening update! I have never seen such a picture of the sci fi dine in restaurant. I knew there were cars, but I never could imagine the set up. I am going to look into the food reviews for the other meals and maybe surprise DD with this next year. We love novel experiences! You have been very lucky so far this day, I am going to assume that your family is blessed and that your luck holds out!

Yay Bill! Let him know he has another fan rooting for him!

By the way, I think the picture of your youngest hamming it up with the jawas is my favourite of this set. :goodvibes

The Sci Fi Breakfast looks like so much fun! And once again, your outfit is perfect for the day.

Oh you have to at least try it! I think you guys would have a lot of fun! The regular menu is hamburgers, french fries , and shakes and some other stuff. I actually would have loved to have the regular menu.

Awh I sure will! He was a real tropper on that day!

That cuteness you see from my youngest is why that child is still alive today LOL!!! Actually he is a very good boy if he does not follow the other two.

It really was a lot of fun! I suggest trying it at least once.
Thanks! I really liked putting together this outfit. Unfortunity from the picture you can not see what I thought was the best part, "the long storm tropper socks"

I love how you blend right in with the stormtroopers! I would love Sci-Fi even more if they showed Star Wars movies every time! If you want to meet the characters during Star Wars weekend, that seems the way to go!

Oh yes! By looking at those lines for the characters I was very glad we had the ADR for Sci Fi! I would not mind trying Sci Fi on a regular day some time as well.

Following along. Staying at CBR in November so enjoying the tips! Oh and I work the night shift too!!!

I think you will LOVE CBR!!! By then you probally have a good chance of getting a reburbuished room with the queen size beds:thumbsup2.
Oh you poor thing what do you do on thirds? Actually I love it! I work in a hospital lab so it is usually more quite on thirds then during the day. The unfortunite thing is when all hell hits at night it is only me to have to deal with it. So be it though I have gotten use to that and I am comfortable with it. Enjoy your trip! I would LOVE to read your TR if you choose to do one.

Once we got out of Sci Fi we started into the crowd towards main street in hopes to seek out a good spot for the parade. For the first time during our trip I got a small taste of what my husbands probally goes through. Their were people EVERY WHERE! It was really tough to manipulate the area. We all held hands and mayde our way through the crowds. So many people were already lined up for the parade that I had no idea where to even go. I managed to fine a spot up front that had the stage at least in view but it was in the HOT sun. About 15 feet behind the spot was an area of concrete that my parents and the rest of the family could sit that had a few small trees around it that provided a little bit of shade. The plan was once it got closer to parade time that the boys would move up where I was. Alex decided to sit with me but the other boys just could not deal with the hot sun. You have to remember we are from Central Illinois and had just over come the worst winter in at least the last 30 years so our family had not yet adapted to this type of heat yet. I thought this plan was very dooable since Right next to me was a path way that that the CM were keeping clear and not letting anyone else sit or stand there. Further down the path way was my family. PERFECT!!!
I even made friends with the family next to me who had no problems with my plan of letting the boys come up when the parade started.

Then it got very close to the start of the parade. Unfortunitly the CM could no longer contain the crowds. The pathway was now non exsistant. Just within the blink of an eye people started moving in. The closest I have seen to this was in Chicago for their Taste Of Chicago when you are dealing with wall to wall people. There went my plan. There was no way the other two boys could get up to me or me to them since I had Alex with me. The older boys were able to stand on the concrete seat to see but were some what limited. The best I could hope for would be to get some great pictures for the boys. If we are to do this again I will be getting the Desert Package that includes a special areas for the parade. It is some what pricey and we missed it's announcement for this year but it sure seems that it may be worth it. I did manage to get some great shot of the parade.

Once the Parade was over the first step would be to rejoin the family then it was off to Jedi Training. The boys would need to check in at 12:00 which would mean we would have to hurry a bit. Looking around at all the massive amounts of people around us a bit of anxiety started to set it. Would the wait in line for a spot for Jedi Training be for nothing?
