A Grad and Her Guy Do Disney! 10/4 Booked our Honeymoon!!

You make me really really want to do a character breakfast again. I haven't done one since I was probably 8 years old, and I'm 24. ;)

Great update!

They are so fun no matter how old you are! That is the only one we really like to go to because the characters are so darn cute. Kyle isn't really into character meals but he does this one for Eeyore alone!

Great report. I love MK in the morning. :cloud9:

Thanks! MK mornings are especially great when your trip is just starting. It is our tradition to go there on our first full day and our last full day. :goodvibes

I've only read the first chapter so far, but I had to comment on something so I wouldn't forget it when I got all the way done!

I'm so glad you said that you packed clothes for 2 weeks because you never know what you'll be in the mood to wear! I do the same thing and DBF gets annoyed at me every time for packing too much. He doesn't understand that I even if I decide today what I want to wear next Monday, next Monday I just might not feel like wearing that! I am going to show him that it's not just me!! :rotfl:

So glad you found me! I am such an overpacker, you are not alone. It is a necessity! I hope that this helped you convince your DBF. Kyle thinks it is so funny but I'm glad i packed so much because i did end up changing my outfit a few mornings because I didn't like what I originally had planned to wear once I actually put it on

Great update! Love all the pics, can't wait for more:goodvibes

Thanks! I was a picture-taking machine this trip, Kyle teased me for constantly having the camera in my hand but now I think he is glad because it makes for detailed memories of the trip! :cutie:

I'll post the rest of the MK day asap!

Subbing. Y'all are too cute!

Thanks!! I love having new readers :thumbsup2

Ok, all caught up!

Great updates. It sounds like your trip started off great!

I wish you hadn't posted a picture of the Smores though! It caused a major craving!!

Would you recommend AS Movies? We're trying to decide where to stay in October and we both really liked Pop, but I kind of want to try out something new. Movies would be the choice.

I can't wait to read more!

Haha sorry to give you major smores cravings! I remember having a lengthy discussion about them in your TR! :rotfl:They are so good!

I would definitely recommend ASMo if you are looking to stay value, the theming was really cool. I wish we had gone with a "preferred" room though and stayed in the Toy Story section because it was SO CUTE! But overall the hotel was great, we had fast service at both the food court and the check in desk, it was always really clean, the pools weren't too crowded like i thought they would be, and the bus service was good despite what I've read in other peoples reports. We never waited very long for a bus and we only had to stand a couple of times the entire week.

Once on a train on the way into London, my boyfriend and i heard the woman in the seat in front of us telling her kids to look out the window as we passed the Houses of Parliament. "Look, kids!" she exclaimed excitedly, "It's Notre Dame!"

Great update! Sounds like a wonderful day! i've never been on Splash Mountain - mostly because i don't want to get wet - but i think if the weather was hot enough i'd like to give it a try. Gotta love how everyone's "all time favourite" is so different!

So romantic that you got to go back to "your spot"

:rotfl:You had me cracking up in the middle of the office with the Notre Dame story. I think my coworkers think I'm nuts. People never cease to amaze me with their cluelessness!

You have to try Splash someday! It's so fun it's worth getting wet, and if you sit in the back you usually don't get too soaked.

I think visiting our spot will become a tradition :lovestruc

Great update Lauren. Love that you were able to sort of duplicate your proposal morning at MK. I all your MK pics and breakfast at CP looks yummy too. Sorry about the rude parents not teaching their children right from wrong in minnie's house :headache:. Seems to be that way a lot. Looking forward to the killer bird story .

I was most concerned about the buses, so I'm definitely glad to hear they weren't too bad!

I don't really see the point in spending a ton of money on a room when we're never going to be there! A value suits the two of us just fine and then we have more money to go again!

Breakfast at CP is the best!

Kyle had a near breakdown in Minnie's house i think becaues of all the rude people. You swear they owned the place the way they were acting! So we finally just said forget it and decided to try it again another time when it's less crowded.

The bird story is pretty hilarious. We have a history of running into feisty birds at Disney!

Yeah, I've read a lot of horror stories so I was a little concerned but we only had one time when it was a long wait (I'll talk about it in my next update actually haha)

I agree about the values, that is why we chose it because we were barely ever at the hotel, we literally slept there (and we only slept about 6 hours a night the whole trip because we were so busy!) and with the exception of a few brief dips in the pool we were never at the hotel. It didn't make sense to spend a ton of money on the resort, and we are also saving for our honeymoon so we can stay deluxe. That trip we will want to rest after the wedding so it is worth it to stay somewhere a little nicer.

Once again you got a ton in on your MK morning! :goodvibes I've never been on the carousel either. Guess I should consider it on my next trip.

Looking forward to more Lauren! :)

Hi Lauren!!
I was wondering how you were!! I just found this and the weird thing is..I tried awhile ago to log onto your report and couldn't get on either!!!!:confused3 It wouldn't let me...weird!!?!! Is that what happened to you, too, on my ptr?? Anyways, will go back and read now, sorry I'm not up to date yet....soon though!!!

Hope you're well and the wedding plans are coming along!!!!:goodvibes

Hi, Lauren!! I'm pretty new to the world of DIS, but I did read your last engagement TR (it was one of the very first ones I read :goodvibes) and really enjoyed it and am enjoying this one, too. I, also, cannot stand "chatty strangers" yet I always seem to get stuck talking to one LOL. Funny about the girl in highschool- she must've thought your 'Graduation Pin' meant you were graduating highschool :lmao: Unfortunately, THAT happens to me all the time too
We also have a tradition of having breakfast at CP the first morning :goodvibes Would you believe in the 3-4 times I've been there as an adult I have yet to meet Tigger!!! Also, when we were there in March, Pooh bear just kind of shook my hand and went on his way :sad1:
PS- I loove your Sleeping Beauty shirt!! Wherever did you get it?

It's fun, makes me feel like a little kid again. The music is so great too, I love the organ version of the Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast songs especially, very whimsical! Def try it out next time, even if the boys are feeling too cool for it :rotfl:

Hey Kristen!! I'm glad you are onboard! That is so strange that you are having the same problem, I tried probably five times to log on to your report and post and it just never let me log in. So weird! I didn't want you to think I'd forgotten about you, so I'm glad the problem seems to be solved now!

Wedding plans are coming along great, we finally found a photography after 3 months of trying haha. We went with someone really affordable who does great work and is based right here in my town so that is great! Next up is the cake tasting woo hoo!! :yay: Hope you and the boys are doing well!!

Hi!! Thanks so much for reading, I am so flattered that my last TR was one of the first you read! :cutie: I'm excited that you are along for this one too, yay!! Chatty strangers plague us everywhere we go haha, I'm glad Im not alone. But I feel bad not talking to them so I wind up having lots of long random conversations. I really think she did assume I was graduating high school which is so funny to me. CP the first morning is such a great way to start the trip. Tigger is my favorite I hope you finally get to meet him sometime soon! My Sleeping Beauty shirt is from Target, I found it for like 10 bucks and I was so excited. I felt weird though because two CMs asked me where it was from that day I wore it and I was like "Ummmm...not in Disney sorry!" :rolleyes1 haha.

Hi Everyone!! Sorry for the delay with this next update, I wanted to do one once a week but it's been a tad crazy! I am taking my Praxis II exam on Saturday so I can be dual certified in elementary education (I already have my Special Ed certificate but my school wants me to have both) so I have been studying like crazy. I'm so nervous, wish me luck!! And tomorrow is my brother and sister's birthday (the twins, remember them from my last TR?) so I have been busy baking/gift wrapping/celebrating. But the next installment is almost done, I just need to get more pics uploaded and then I will post it so stay tuned!! Hope you all have a lovely weekend! :flower3:

Laurenmic - Your TR so far has been great. Your description of the CP interests me as I will be eating there for the first time in September.
Good luck on your upcoming test and I hope you enjoy the teaching profession. I retired after 31 years of teaching and it was a very rewarding experience. My daughter has her degree in elementary education and is taking her certification exam tomorrow (Saturday).
Keep the reports coming and good luck!

I recently stumbled across your TR (I think from someone else's?) and I'm enjoying it all! Your breakfast at CP looked sooooo good, and I'm GLAD because we are doing that in September! :woohoo:

Congratulations on both your graduation and your fairly recent engagement! Very romantic that you re-enacted the morning of the proposal! Glad you could eat this time.

At this point the sky had turned black and it looked like a thunderstorm was about to start. Sure enough, just as we were boarding the bus, the sky opened up and it started to pour! Hooray for lots of good timing this day!

I'm In!! Just chatching up!

I remember this part of the day!! We vacationed in WDW the same week as you and your DF. We were swimming at the SSR pool and eating lunch when this nasty storm came through! It's funny to read a trip report were someone went the same time as you and remember what we were doing at point in the day! Also, your off to a great start!!

Hope the exam and birthday went well! I just read the latest installment and loved it! We think alike...I get so annoyed when people talk like they know everything about the parks but they are clearly wrong AND I usually wear my buttons in hopes of free dessert LOL! I'm glad you got to eat the CP breakfast...I wouldn't want to eat anything if I just got engaged either! PS your fiancee is so cute and you are gorgeous!

Thank you so much! I always love hearing from other teachers :goodvibes I agree, it is so rewarding. I never pictured myself doing anything else and I truly love it. I hope your daughter did well on her exam! Mine seemed like it went well, I'll know for sure in 3 weeks so my fingers are crossed!

I hope you like CP as much as we do, it is our one must-do meal of every trip!

Thanks for reading and all your kind words!! Glad you stumbled upon me :thumbsup2 I am starving right now, could totally go for some CP breakfast. I hope you love it as much as we do! Our proposal was my dream come true :lovestruc

That is so funny that you were there the same time as us! I wonder if we ever crossed paths at any point during the week, we'll have to compare notes throughout the TR and find out! Luckily there weren't too many storms like that during the week. SSR lucky you it looks beautiful!! Hope you had a great trip!

Hope your tests went well today, Lauren! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I think they did, I find out my scores in three weeks so cross your fingers that I passed!!

Awww you are too sweet thank you!! My exam was pretty good, it was just very LONG! So glad it's over, just prayin' I passed. There will be more instances in this TR of no-it-alls who are SO wrong about Disney haha you are right, so annoying!! We got zero free desserts with those buttons, which is a bummer. CP gave us a cupcake after we got engaged, hoping that the honeymoon brings more free stuff  Thanks for reading and all your kind words!!

I hope your Praxis went well!!

Thanks!! I'm pretty sure I did fine but I am always the pessimist when it comes to grades so I'm all worried about it haha, but for now I'm just so glad it's over!!

OK lovely readers I am back in action! SO sorry for that long delay. My test went well (I think!!), so glad it is over, thanks for the well wishes you guys are awesome :cutie: This past weekend I went to NYC with my family. It was really fun!! We saw the Statue of Liberty and Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Center, went to Central Park and stayed at this gorgeous hotel in Times Square. I might have to post a little update with some pics this week!

But first, after a long delay, here is the much awaited finish to day 2! Jeez, and I thought I'd rush through this TR and have it done in like 2 months like my last one.

When I left off, Kyle and I were feeling refreshed after a quick snooze and a dip in the pool. After my nap, I called my mom quick just to catch up with her. I told her about the great timing we were having and the lack of crowds so far. Ready to head back to MK since it was open until midnight, we changed, reapplied the sunscreen (Oh how my pale irish skin burns, I took 10 mins every morning to apply my SPF 30 ), and grabbed our refillable mugs. We took the quick walk across the street to ASMu and got drinks in their food courst to rehydrate on the bus ride. Except the bus never came...we waited almost half an hour, and it had started to sprinkle. Chivalrous Kyle stood in line while I took cover under the overhang...and decided to entertain myself by being the "L" an All Stars. My name is Lauren after all. Oh man I am a dork!!

100_0663.jpg

This was the only time we really had to wait for a bus. As dark clouds started rolling in and the sprinkle looked like it would turn into a full on thunderstorm, we saw an Epcot bus pull in. I suggested to Kyle that we jump on and just take the monorail since I LOVE riding the monorai land we hadn't been on yet. He liked that idea, so we ditched the other poor stranded MK go-ers and hopped on the bus just as the sky opened up and it began to pour. Woo hooo lucky again!

Epcot was pretty dead, and as we made the long windy trek up the monorail platform, I noticed it was empty except for two other people. I asked the operator if we could ride up front with the driver, and the other two people waiting had also asked, but since you can fit four in the front, he said yes!

Kyle and I rode in the front of the monorail during our 08 trip, and we got a really cute picture of the two of us since we were all dressed up from a "date night" in Epcot. But for some reason his camera started acting up and erased all the pictures from that night! We were really bummed, so of course this time we had to have the other party take our picture to replace it! It came out cute, Kyle likes it because he says it makes him look "buff" lol!!

100_0665.jpg

The view from way up there:
100_0668.jpg

The driver was super nice and really knowledgable, he told us all about how the monorails operate and about his experience as a CM. Way better than the last time we rode up front and the driver never spoke. He gave us our honorary "pilot's license" and we were on our way to MK. By the time we got in it was dinnertime, so we decided to head straight to Pecos Bill's, our favorite MK CS place. I like taking the train, so DF suggested we hop on and take it to Frontierland. There were two adorable little kids in front of us who turned around to chat, and I pointed out how you can see the inside of Splash as you pull into the station. They thought it was the coolest thing ever! We waved good by and walked down to get Splash FPs to use later. I popped into the store while DF went to get them. They have the cutest stuff here! I found a Father's Day antennae topper with a little shirt and tie on it for my dad, and got an 09 grad once with a little mickey graduation cap on it for my own car. When Kyle got back we headed to Pecos.

Despite it being around 6, the prime dinner hour, there was no line at Pecos. We both ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and fries. Kyle was all healthy and got a yogurt for dessert and I went for the chocolate chip cookie. These sandwiches were awesome! Pardon the bite in the picture, I was starving!

100_0669.jpg

All of the food was great with the exception of the pre-packaged cookie, def not the best dessert we experienced all week.

We sat outside during dinner, which was quiet and peaceful at first. The storm let up and it was a beautiful night...until the evil Disney birds decended. Some huge crane type thing (sorry, I don't know my wildlife!) was walking around, getting dangerously close to people's food. I had to use the bathroom, and this made Kyle nervous. I guess he wasn't sure if he could guard my food from the killer birds! The thing literally came and stood right next to us and it was as tall as the table. Here is the culpriate. He was big, but I could take him:

100_0670.jpg

When my brother was little, he had one of them steal a churro literally out of his mouth once, and I was not looking for a repeat performance. I decided to take care of business, so I ran after it and chased the bird out of the seating area. Kyle was probably very embarrassed by this and other diners were staring, but I was not going to be attacked. lol I showed that crane who's boss and he did not re-enter!

If my memory serves me right, we headed to Adventureland after dinner. We rode Pirates again and this time we got the very front row with a dad and his very scared looking little daughter. The boat was packed, and as we dropped we got SOAKING wet! I couldn't believe it, I didn't get that wet on Splash the entire week. I'd also had my camera in my lap so at first i panicked because it got so wet, but luckily no damage. As usual, we poked around the gift shop at the exit. We decided to stop and have a quick photo-op with some of the toy weapons. DF attempted to get a funny pic of him "swallowing" a sword. It took 4 takes to get it right and my stomach hurt from laughing at him!

Take one:
100_0680.jpg

Take four, he finally gets it hooray!
100_0683.jpg

Then he made me pick up a ball and chain for a picture...ditzy me didn't get the analogy til after! He was cracking up at this, oh my sweet fiancee!

The Magic Carpets had no wait, so we rode those next. The camel spit right in my eye so I spent half of our ride blinded haha. I like going up high and enjoying the great view of MK. The sun was setting and it was perfect. Afterwards, I convinced DF to tour the Swiss Family Treehouse with me since he'd never seen it and I hadn't done it in years. I know most people think this is boring, but I think its cute and I love the book (nerdy teacher, I know!) so I enjoyed it. It also offers some excellent views of the park. I great pictures of the sunset, DF was impressed!

My favorite castle pic of the trip:
100_0687.jpg

The amazing sunset!
100_0688.jpg

The exit of the treehouse is conveniently located near the dole whip stand, and it was about an hour before Wishes, so we decided to get a pineapple float with a snack credit and then go scope out a spot since we missed Wishes on our last two trips. I took a few sips, but DF mostly enjoyed the treat while I dragged him around Main Street looking for a Spot. We finally settled near the walkway between the hub and Adventureland since it was already getting busy. DF couldn't believe how early people stake out spots. But he was much more interested in his snack than anything! :lmao:

100_0691.jpg

We got there about 40 minutes before the show and it was already packed. Of course, Wishes was well worth the wait, and I especially enjoyed it because it was another first for DF. What's more romantic than fireworks? ;) I found fireworks mode on my camera, too, and got some decent pictures.

100_0705.jpg

100_0708.jpg

The show brings tears to my eyes, I have to see it on our first MK night because if I watch it on our last night of the trip I cry like a baby!

After the show ended, we had exactly 5 mins. to fight off the crowd and make the tail end of our Splash FP return time. Kyle is a big guy, so he grabbed my hand and manuevered us over there with time to spare. What a guy! I love this ride in the dark when you can see the castle all lit up!
Here is our silly rednecked photo. Yup, we got sat in the back again:
100_0711.jpg

Afterwards we did HM again, and then Kyle generously agreed to ride IASW with me. He hates it, but I love it becuase of all the childhood memories of this being my favorite ride, and the first of every trip! Here is my love enjoying it, lol, don't hold back your feelings dear!

100_0720.jpg

Woo hoo, Ireland!
100_0715.jpg

Next we waited about 15 mins. for Snow White, during which DF exclaimed "How the heck can you count this as a kid's ride??" haha so true. That witch gets more face time than anyone. Oh well, still gotta ride it!

After that we stepped foot into tomorrowland for the very first time. It was so weird with Space and Peoplemover being closed, we were sad. On the walk over, we noticed that the sky was a cool shade of purple and there was TONS of heat lightening. DF was leary becuase he is scared of lightening (since he was usually the tallest person around haha poor thing) but I stopped to watch and take a video. Then it was off to ride Carousel of Progress. We love this for some reason haha I think because it was so close to Walt's heart. I think we rode Buzz next because the line was short. I was determined to beat him. I discovered that if you hold the button on your gun down, you get 100 points every 5 seconds. It is a very slow, not fun way to score though! Of course Kyle won despite my best efforts, oh well there's always next year. Look at that game face:

100_0723.jpg

I convinced DF to do the teacups with me as long as I agreed to spin slowly since he gets motion sickness. Earlier we had said we wouldn't ride at all, but I couldn't help it, we were passing by them and I really wanted to, they are so fun. I didn't spin too fast at all, just enough to make it fun and not make poor Kyle barf! My photos are telling me we also rode Winnie the Pooh, although my memory does recall that at all, oops!
100_0727.jpg

At that point we decided we had our fill of MK for the day, and we decided to head to the Main Street bakery and pick up some breakfast using snack credits for the next morning on our way out. The castle was open so we cut through. I find it breathtaking! Cinderella was my favorite as a little girl. I had a play teaset that I used to try and carry on my head like Cinderella did when she was serving the evil stepsisters breakfast in the movie :rotfl:

100_0728.jpg

I of course got a cinnamon roll at the bakery (you will see a trend here in the coming installments!) and Kyle got one too. They are AMAZING! After we grabbed the grub, it was time to say goodnight to the MK.

The bus line was pretty short because it was still an hour or so before park closing. We both got a seat but we had to sit seperately and i found myself nodding off on the trip back to ASMo. We skipped the pool and headed straight to bed after another busy day.

Coming up next: The mad dash for Soarin', A day full of Futureworld, and you'll find out why Coral Reef is our new favorite!!

Great update! Don't you just hate those food begging and taking birds. They are worse then a dog that begs.

Thanks!! Ugh they are absolutely terrible, I can't stand them. Luckily that was the only one to give is a close encounter this trip :rotfl:

I'm glad you're back!

The monorail picture is cute!

That bird would have totally freaked me out! I got the mental picture of you chasing after it though to scare it away and it made me laugh! :lmao: I would have applauded you if I'd have been there! :thumbsup2

I love the sunset picture!

Kyle's face on IaSW is too funny. I have a picture of everyone sleeping on that ride.

I showed DBF that picture of the sword and now he wants to try it! We love silly pictures!
