With us moving out there in a few months, I am hoping I can find a no fee bank to use. We have TD Bank now and it only requires $100 in there and no fee's for anything as long as you have it. Is there anything like that in Texas ? We can use our cards for whatever and visit the teller's too.

I can't use anything with direct deposit or paying bills out of it required since I don't do either with my account. Thanks !

Also, what cable company is out there that most people use ? I don't know if we want to continue with DirecTV when we move.

We are members of Texans Credit Union and love it. I believe there are no restrictions - just residency. No fees/etc. Highly recommended. Credit Union of Texas is great as well. Check both of those for locations near Frisco.

As for cable, it depends on your neighborhood. Neighborhoods around here are typically "owned" by either Verizon or AT&T. If you want a fiber optic line, you will have to go with the one who has lines in your neighborhood. Otherwise, you have Time Warner or DirecTV. Fiber Optic is the way to go though, IMO :)

Welcome to the neighborhood - hope you all enjoy TX when you get here!

Welcome to Texas!! We live in Frisco. Great place. I suggest looking at http://www.frisco-online.com/forums/ lots of helpful people. I'm not sure which local bank is good. We use USAA which is a great bank but no local branches.

I signed up for the forum yesterday but not sure how to introduce myself or when.

It will be a different life for my family for sure considering my boys grew up in our current town of 1,800 people. I think they will like it though, I know my DH and I will like living in a city again. We both grew up just outside of Boston and have been dying for city life again.

I've been looking at home online, since we think we want to buy in and not rent but I don't know if there is a better area to live in than another. The houses and neighborhoods all seem very similar. We don't know what we have to spend yet but know what we want. So hard to wait ! Nice to know I'll have some Disney people there when I move. :thumbsup2

well, they are messing with us, lol. Company just told my DH that they are moving from Frisco to Dallas near the Galleria Mall ??? He didn't get an exact location but it might change where we are looking for a house to live in. Any idea ?

Welcome to Texas! My family and I moved here a little over a year ago. I saw your post here and on Frisco Online Forums. I read a lot but do not post much. I am answering here because there was a lot less traffic on here. Anyway, when we moved here I was looking into living in Frisco, McKinney, Allen and then added Prosper. At the time my husband was working in the Galleria area. We knew his office was moving up to Plano/Frisco off of Legacy and 121 so we could do a little more north. We ended up buying in Prosper. We love it here! The reason we chose Prosper was that it was similar to where we moved from in Oklahoma. The schools are great and still smaller. My daughter, at the time was in 8th grade and son was in 4th grade. I wanted a good school they could grow up and graduate in.
I could not get over the smaller yards in Frisco or the alley driveways. Just like you, we wanted a pool and yard. We have a dog too. There are several neighborhoods with larger lots.
We are about 5-7 minutes from Walmart and 10-15 minutes from a nice grocery store and Super Target. The tollway is easy to access to get to the Galleria area if needed.
So, just wanted to give you one more information about the area. When I first started looking, I only thought Frisco but learned of many new areas as well. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions. I will try to answer them.

Hey! We will be moving from Atlanta to Dallas this summer. We are heavily looking at Frisco.

What is the best High School and Middle school?

We have a lot to do to get ready. Bummed that we will not be as close to Orlando or Port Canaveral.

Any suggestions on neighborhoods would be great. We have a wide price range. $450k to 700k.

What is the best High School and Middle school?

Thanks a good way to start an argument...

My daughter graduated from Liberty, but I honestly believe any of the Frisco ISD High Schools are good. The Frisco high schools are smaller (4A) than Plano, Allen or McKinney (5A) and the school district is committed to staying in the smaller 4A division.

Can't give any recommendations on Frisco neighborhoods as we live in Plano. I know, "You live in Plano but your kids go to Frisco?", I hear it all the time.

Be sure to check which school district for the house you are considering if that is important to you. There are neighborhoods in Frisco located in the Lewisville ISD School District.
