A good check in time.

When checking into a Disney resort, is there a time frame when it's not as crowded and you can walk right up and check in without a wait, or a long wait? I don't know if this is something that can be answered, but I had to ask because I thought of it.

Thanks,
TTFN

It is generally crowded right when a Magical Express bus drops people off. At the deluxe resorts I have never had a crowd even then, they always have enough cast members working to handle the flow. When we stayed at AoA - the line was crazy long when we got off ME but they moved us along pretty quickly. If you could figure out when an ME bus was going to be there - that would be the time to avoid ;)

Funny you mention Magical Express because I had planned on taking one when we arrive. Oh well. As long as there are plenty of Cast Members I guess things will be ok. The last few times I've gone down I've stayed at the POFQ, and I never had a wait. I'm hoping that will be the case for this next trip.

I've honestly never seen that much of a crowd at check-in, regardless of time of day. As has been said, I'm sure it increases when there is a mass influx of people like a Magical Express arrival. But even then, you've got one planeload of people at a time, and how likely is it that they're all going to the same resort? I think Disney generally does a good job of having the check-in areas well staffed and the lines moving.

That was my thinking, too, but the question popped into my head so I had to ask it. I know when I took Mears to the POFQ it was generally full, but once we got to the resort only a few us actually got out.

In ten years check in was never crowded. Even when there is a line, there are plenty of CM's to move the crowd along.

Keep in mind, you may not have to check in at all. A lot of people, seems more so for those who fly in, will get a text telling them their room is ready and what the room number is. In that case you don't even have to go to the front desk. Mind you in over 33 years of going, I've never been one of those people but it does happen. There is also a possibly when you check in your room may not be ready, not saying it will or won't happen but it could. I've check in at 7:30 in the morning and my room was ready and I've checked in at 3:30 in the afternoon and it wasn't. I never even put room preferences on my on line check in, the only thing I ever put is early check in so there is no explanation other than the room is or is not ready.

If you do online check in there is a fairly good chance that you won't have to go to the front desk at all, or you will go to the quick check in section. Just plan to check in whenever you arrive.
