Hope all my are having a happy, healthy new year. I feel like 2009 was a pile of stink for most everyone I know, so here's hoping 2010 is better! I also booked a room at the Swan (oh yeah, like that's going to last-LOL) for before my cruise in December.
{Warning, part of this is an adult in the parks vent. If you think that the parks are only for kids, I have no idea why you are reading this TR}
So I waited. And waited. I amused myself for a bit with the college aged girls in front of me-tattooed to the hilt, hipster haired, and waiting to meet Tinkerbell. We were going nowhere fast. I called my godmother, who commented it was loud where I was. I waited some more. I found myself wishing Id brought my iPod with me to the parks. I especially wished this after about 20 minutes, when the parents of the princesses behind me began grousing about all the adults in line in front of them, and why were they there. I chose to ignore it, as Im sure she wouldnt have enjoyed me suggesting that they go to a park which only has kiddie met and greets, or pointing out that I paid more for my ticket than their darlings. I waited some more. After over an hour, we were shrunk to pixie-size and got free coin purses due to the new Tink movie. I met Silvermist, who concluded that I was a flower fairy, due to the flowers on my Eeyore shirt. I then met the main pixie, who looked disturbingly like Kristen Bell. We had a nice chat and took some pictures. I met the flower fairy last.
The Photopass guy did not have the fairy wings capacity, which irked me. I headed out of pixie hollow, and grabbed a Fastpass for Splash mountain. I saw the Celebrate street thingy, which I liked. I went on Pirates, and was then utterly underwhelmed by the Pirates League (although I think the pirate princess costume is one of the cooler ones sold in parks). I wandered about (is there anything, in the world, nicer than wandering about the MK? I think not) And got a Dole Whip Float-this was kind of my Dole Whip Float for Bawb, so I sat and pondered Boston accents and the like. I headed onwards to TomorrowLand-I did Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor-they updated the jokes. I then boarded the TTA-its about the same.
I wandered some more, got a cream cheese pretzel (yummy!) I browsed in the Emporium-I was looking for a ribbon bracelet like AGPrincess had, but I couldnt find one I liked. I also saw a Disney World nightgown I liked, which I am wearing as I type this

. I headed out of the MK, and onto the bus.
The bus ride was uneventful. I got off, and walked towards my room. You know how the big pro (for me) of POFQ over POR is that it only has one busstop? Con-you have to walk to your room further than at POR, if you are in room seven. I bought a refillable mug-Ill dive more into this later, but I would not get a mug again if I were on the
DDP. I headed to my room, called for my water, and called my mom. Mom was doing as well as could be expected-she was in the small town where her father grew up and they summered when she was younger. My uncle was buried there, and she was checking on some stuff with that. My water arrived. I had also bought a twelve pack of coke, which was jostled, but in good order (a few cans did require me using a rat-tail comb to open, though). I got ready-true to the weirdo I am, I had bought my Ohana shirt months ago.
I put my pens and little Disney Card games Id bought for the meetup in my purse, and headed out. Id but some glow fans at HSN, but they were not working, nor were my light-up hair extensions from the Christmas Tree Shops, so I settled for my Mickey Pumpkin necklace.
Now, two things you need to know: 1. I am obsessively early. It started with me being born on January 30 when I was due on St. Patricks Day, and hasnt stopped. 2nd-What Im like on the internet-what Im like in real life. So I got to the Poly at 5ish for a 6pm meet up at the pool. I figured Id rather roam around the Poly, than in my room. I had a very important mission-Id been calculating my OT that week at work in alcoholic beverages-I wanted a Lapu Lapu. In search of my Lapu Lapu, I picked one up at the Tambu Lounge and walked it down to the pool bar.
(If you know me IRL, this is a much funnier story-only I would be genuinely worried about not getting a Lapu Lapu at the pool bar) If you ever want to spark conversations at WDW, carry a Lapu Lapu from the bar (2nd floor) to the pool (first floor). I headed to the Volcano pool-why is this such a big deal-its kind of a lousy pool, IMO. I waited, drank my Lapu Lapu and waited. It was after 6, so I texted a few people, who said they ere going to be late. They finally showed up, and we chatted. We were seated at Ohana around 7ish. Now, as much a I made remarks about meat on a stick-yay!, I did like Ohana (the tofu and rice I had were great).
My two big hang ups were a)there was no vegetarian appetizer, and b) it wasnt worth my cost for what I got. Also, if you remember the episode of the DISUnplugged where Kevin and John go to Ohana-yes, the woman does look like a female impersonator. We all received leis, which were apparenty scented with VS Love Spell. The lights were dimmed and I saw Hallowishes with the music piped in-AWESOME. Some f us hung out some more in the lobby, and saw an older couple dressed as Mary Poppins and Bert walk by (it was a
MNSSHP night)-cutest thing ever. I monorailed it back to the MK, and got on the bus home to POFQ.
