We were at the MK on Mother's Day in May of 2000, we did not stay in the restorts, but we were there when the rope dropped, went immediately to Buzz and rode it twice, then rode a few other rides, then headed over to splash mountian and HM, I remember that the crowds did get larger as the day went on, but we never felt overhelmed, I'm not even sure if we waited more than 30 minutes for any ride. Also, since I didn't really 'research' that trip, I didn't know much about FP ~~maybe it wasn't even around then??? Anyway, we didn't use it if it did exist because I didn't know about it.

This question is to others who go often in the middle of May~ are the crowds I described about normal for the this time? Or did we just hit it lucky and somehow manage to get ahead of the crowds? Also, don't kill me over this question---but if 30 minutes is the about the longest we'd ever be standing in line, is it still worth it to use FP? I just think using FP would mean a lot more walking--and with kids and my 72 yr old Mom, I just wonder if it's worth it. I know people get worked up over this FP thing, and I'm not opposed to using it, just wondering if it would really help us when we are going??? Oh by the way, we will be in the MK on Wednesday afternoon May 12 and we are doing EMH on Thursday, May 13. Thanks! :)

We've been in May 3 times and the scenario you described sounds typical. We were there the same time you were in 2000, and I the crowds were a little bigger than that in MK, so we must've gone on different days. The only long lines I remember were for Splash Mountain (awful!), Space Mountain, BTMRR, and Dumbo. We did use fast past for those (not Dumbo). May is a wonderful time to go!

We've been two times in May and there were moments during the day where the crowds were very thick, but it never maintained that "thick crowd" feeling. EVEN so...FASTPASS IS WONDERFUL!! Always get one if you can. :) Why stand in line for 30 minutes if you can get a fastpass, get some ice cream, do a minor attraction and come right back and walk on a ride? Spend your time doing pleasant things instead of unpleasant thing, IMO.

We've gone in early/mid May the past 4 years. Crowds were not bad. The only problem we hit as MK on a weekday when Spectro was held that night, it was very crowded all day. We've used fastpass with no problems. For example, in the morning, Space Mountain's fast pass is usually about 45 minutes away. So we get one and then do Buzz, TTA, CP if it's open and then go back to Space. THe return times usually aren't that far away, no more than an hour. At AK, we get a FP for the Safari, then do the walking tour. Again, usually not more than 45 minute return time.

It is very warm, around 90, so we take a mid-afternoon break back at the hotel.

Thanks guys---I do remember at lunch the lines were SO long! I made PSs this time!!!! I also remember it being more crowded in the early afternoon, we are planning on taking a couple hours break in the afternoon! And we do NOT plan on being near the MK on Tuesday (Specto is scheduled for that night!).

I'm so torn!! I can't decide if we should go to MK on Sunday, our first full day, or on Tue., for the Spectromagic?? My Mom is taking my 2yo dd and I, and she hasn't been since I was in the WDWCP many moons ago! I would love for her to see this, but I just don't know.... :( Unfortunately, we don't have annual passes, and Tue. was the day I was planning to go to Typhoon Lagoon! (her 1st time! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc ) I can't wait!!! (Now I just have to break the news to my dh... )
