A foolish promise finally kept: the PTR! *The TR has begun! Link on page 13, post 189

Okay, you're freaking me out! This time we were posting on the SAME PTR at the same time! :confused3

What can I say great posters post at the same time sometimes on the same post.:)

Your DH sounds like my BF. He doesn't like sauces, he doesn't like garlic much (although my dad can't cook without garlic so my BF is getting used to it, and finds he doesn't dislike it as much as he thought now that he knows how delicious food can be!). He won't eat cheese of any description unless it's "cheeseCAKE" which he'll eat in wild quantities! Seriously, all the boy eats are processed foods and chocolate, i don't know how in the world he stays so skinny. He does like veggies but other than bananas and some berries, he doesn't do fruit.

i'll eat any veggie besides peas and brussels sprouts (shudder). Currently on the stove i have a vegetable orgy soup! Zucchini, squash, red, yellow, orange peppers, mushrooms, onion, garlic, carrots, celery.. i think that's it. Oh, tomatoes. As far as meat... i like pork, but not really bacon or ham. i like steak (medium-rare: not quite mooing), chicken, turkey. i don't do seafood. Mostly for me, whether a food makes it onto my yes-or-no list has to do with texture. Applesauce, oatmeal/porridge, mashed potatoes, soft bananas all make the "oh hell no" category! i don't do spicy either :)

Now we both love garlis but I'm the only one here in my house that likes onions. I will eat all fruits except I hate the FUZZ on peaches but if you peel it for me I'll eat it. Veggies I will eat all but cooked spinach-can eat but don't love cooked carrots love them raw-HATE beets(they smell like moldy basement) if it can't get past my eyes or nose it ain't going in my mouth. Your orgy soup sounds so good,I could eat soup and salad for every meal. As a matter of fact I'm making a pot of cabbage/pastami soup today.

So while i’m relentlessly scouring the DIS, and reading a dozen or so trip reports, i start to notice how many people are wearing matching shirts or outfits. i know that Jess absolutely loves it when we get matching pajamas for Christmas: would she also walk around at Disney wearing a shirt that matched mine? Despite wanting to keep it a surprise, i asked her how she felt about it. Her answer was: “If you’ll wear it, I’ll wear it.” Sweet! Shopping!

Since we don’t have a Disney store in our city, i started, naturally enough, at disneyshopping. Between there and their outlet section, i came up with enough shirts for us each to wear one every day we’re there. Cool. “Checkout”.

:scared1:
You want HOW MUCH to ship to Canada? On top of these prices?! Nuh-uh.

First i reduced the order from 12 shirts to 2, then deleted a few more things. Still ridiculous shipping. Time for plan B. I called my twinnie in Texas. They have $5 shipping within the US. Can i ship it to her, and have her send it to me? Of course. So i had it shipped to her. However, now i still only have two shirts. At one each, that’s a lot of topless days! :rotfl:

New plan: there’s lots of cool DISigns threads here with some really talented people making graphics. i’m not terrible with PSP. So i’ll get and make some designs and make my own shirts. However, that ended up not really being an option. There’s nowhere here to buy the plain shirts in the right size at a reasonable price. The iron-on transfer sheets are 3 for $18 . And my colour printer is very… temperamental.

Luckily, fate intervened. My best friend needed to drive her stepdaughter down south to spend thanksgiving weekend with her mother. She asked me to come along for the ride, and while down there she suggested we go to the Vaughan Mills mall. Know what’s in the Vaughan Mills mall? A Disney Outlet store. Know what they had at the Disney Outlet store? A sh*tload of t-shirts in JUST THE RIGHT SIZE! :woohoo: And, even better, they were $3.99 each.

So i got 11 t-shirts (oops.. was supposed to be 12, i miscounted :confused3) for less than $50. SCORE! :cheer2:

These are the shirts i bought:

Now the only problem is: How do i decide whose are whose? i originally bought Tink and Eeyore for myself, and Pooh and Mickey/Minnie/Jasmine for Jess, but i seem to have ended up leaving it all unbalanced. My plan at the moment is to put them all in a big box together, with the two shirts and the rain jackets i’d ordered from Disney, and have the box addressed “To sare & Jess from Mickey: See you soon!”. Then i’ll put it under the Christmas tree, and we’ll see which ones she really wants then. It’s not like we can’t share them once the trip is over.

i’m also hard at work on my own design for one more pair of shirts. We’re technically there for seven days so i need one more set. i found a woman at a booth in the mall who is willing to print them on the right size shirts for $20 each, so i’m going to do that and maybe let my BF pay for it as a Christmas present to me or Jess or both.

OT i bought my brother’s Christmas present from the same booth. The t-shirt says “My mom says I ride the short bus because I’m special.” and has one of the children licking the window of the bus :lmao:

Up next: Rough drafts of my t-shirt designs.

Love the shirts I ordered several off the Disney Store online and have the Winnie(pink one) and the Eyeore(purpleone) ordered DH several also.
But I found so many designs on the forums that I made several for us to wear that match such as the Thing 1 & Thing 2 shirts,Mickey Head (christmas design one with both Mickey and Minnie in each side) and then made DH an Ohio State Mickey shirt and the Beers around the World one for him, I made 2 nightshirts(found these at our local Hobby Lobby Store they carry up to 3XXL since I am pooh size from the steroids I've taken for 5 years I got 2XXL and they are long enough) for me to take to sleep.
I buy them when they run a sale 2 for $5.00. I found the iron on transfers at the flea market 3 pkgs for $10.00 they work out okay. They are the Burlington transfers.

Unfortunately we have no stores like that. The only craft store we have is Michaels, and their shirts go to a smallish XL, which definitely wouldn't work. Walmart and Zellers both have a touch-and-go selection of plain items, but i don't get have the time (or transportation) to go there very often. So far i'm happy with what i've got, and i'll be going back to Toronto twice between now and WDW - once in November for my sister's Dr appointment, and once in December/January with my BF for a weekend in lieu of exchanging Christmas presents - and i will make it a point to go to the Disney store there and get another shirt or three to complete the set. Otherwise, we'll be there for a long time.... there's gift shops!!

I love your updates. And thanks for checking out my June trip report! :thumbsup2 I like your ADR's. You will love Ohana's and CP is one of my favorites. I have CP planned for december. Kona is also great!

You are so lucky to have the DDP. I really think you should make an ADR for your Epcot day. There are so many good TS options in the Worldshowcase. Of course, Le cellier is my fav, but that ADR is soooooo hard to get.

I also like the Cape May Cafe breakfast while in Epcot. Its so easy to walk to and the characters are great!

A couple of others you might like - Yak and Yeti in AK. I also recommend the Plaza in MK. It is small, quiet, uncrowded and has great sandwiches and ice cream. Since you have the DDP, its one TS you probably don't mind using up!

Looking forward to reading more!

Loving you TR :thumbsup2
On that day that you cancelled your Sci Fi Dine In ADR if you do make it back to DHS and still want to eat there try getting a walk in, we got one in January with 9 people !

Thanks! i love updating! i'm starting to worry that by the time the end of the week rolls around i'm not going to have much left to say!

The thing about the TS ADRs is that i'm just not sure how much we can eat! We're both Pooh sized, but not big eaters, so i'm trying not to make too many ressies. The other problem is that i hate having to be in a certain place at a certain time - it's vacation! Away from my anal-retentive "I need this five minutes ago" boss! i can turn off my internal alarm clock and just go with the flow! :hippie:

As to Le Cellier... i've heard it's good, but as a Canadian myself i'm interested in trying other cultures' foods first :)

Loving you TR :thumbsup2

Hello Lynn, thanks for reading and posting! It's so exciting to "meet" new people here :) i'm glad that you're enjoying so far!

It's funny i was just talking with a friend about Sci-Fi at lunch today, she was disappointed i had cancelled it. i may still do as you say and try a walk-in, because it does sound like fun!

Okay, i can't seem to find some of my t-shirt designs, and the others use other people's DISigns and i need to get the credits before i post them, so i thought i'd just post a picture from last night's Halloween party to tide us all over.

And I thought this was you dressed as a fairieprincess.:confused3
Did you have fun at your Halloween party?

Hehe.. well, a crazed medieval vampire is similar to a faerie princess, isn't it?

Yes, i did have fun. Unfortunately we only had about 20 trick-or-treaters - i don't know where the kids go anymore, since at my house i'm told they didn't have any. i spoke to my boss on the phone today, she said she had candy for 150 and had 30. Where do they all go??

Anyway this is that dress serving its original purpose: i was the maid-of-honour in my best friend's medieval wedding last October.

i look slightly more regally princesslike there, i think :)

I think the dress is neat. You are an adorable bridesmaid.
My younger son who is 26 years old and is a Computer Tech.and works in a lab, has alot of friends that are in the medieval scene he also designs, makes and sells(as if he doesn't have enough to do) chain mail jewelry and accessories. I didn't realise there was such a big demand for it. He actually makes alot for the Renaisse Restival they hold here every year. He even has his own web page.

We didn't have many trick or treaters either but we really haven't in the last couple of years in our case I think it is because so many of the churches and schools hold alternative parties to keep the children off the streets and out of harm's way.
Did Jess dress up for Halloween?

Well, she sort of did. i have a t-shirt that says "bite me" and a little vampy smiley face, so she wore that with a violently clashing undershirt, and i painted her nails black and put black makeup around her eyes and she went to school as a goth. She seemed to like it. i didn't get a picture unfortunately (i got up at 6.45 to do her makeup but was in no condition to get the camera out!).

HI Sare!! I just found your pretrippie and am enjoying it very much!!

I think you and your lil' sis are both beautiful and I'm sure that you'll have a fabulous time in WDW:goodvibes

I love your ADR choices. Your AK day, you're only a 2min bus ride from AKL... you probably couldn't get a walk-in for Boma for dinner (I'm picky and didn't like it anyway) but you could probably get a walk-in for a late "brunch" breakfast. It was really tasty.

CP is great... you two will have some great pics there:thumbsup2

Hi Paula! Welcome to my PTR :) i *am* hoping to make it over to AKL at least to have a look around - i shall have to take a look at Boma's menu tomorrow and see if there's anything we're interested in! Thanks for the idea! :goodvibes

Hi!! Thanks for stopping by :)

Jess' disabilities luckily won't keep her from going on any rides, but i am slightly concerned that she might not be able to see all of the elements that really make Disney's rides a cut above the rest. She has quite low vision (she's legally blind), so i'm planning to get her a GAC, and hopefully will be able to work out that she can sit towards the front for any shows and things.
If you have not already looked at the disABILITIES Board, I'd suggest making a visit to the disABILITIES FAQs thread (link in my signature).
Post #6 of that thread has information about GACs (Guest Assistance Cards) and post #3 has links to some past threads about visiting WDW with someone with limited vision. There are several past threads about trip planning for small children with visual disabilities. Even though the OP was talking about children, there is a lot of good general information in those threads that would be applicable to all ages.

Thank you so much :) i have taken a quick look around the DISabilities (oops that's backwards :upsidedow ) page before with the plan of going back to it, and still have not done so... thank you for reminding me - and especially for the exact locations of where to find stuff! :thumbsup2 i'll head over there right now :)

:jumping1: Jumping in!! you have a great trip planned! It sound like you and your sister are going to have a great time! Your a wonderful big sister!! Can't wait to read more!

I think several of us are playing ..."Follow the Leader" and "Tag You're It "and I love games.
