The next day we headed to Sanaa for lunch. Ive never been, but was really looking forward to it (due to reviews and prospect of seeing the animals!)
Luckily, we were able to be sat by the windows, and there were some zebras and wildebeasts outside. Our server whos name I cannot remember was beyond accommodating. If everyone were like him, Disney would be out of business! I had the bread and dips, which honestly, I would not order again. I felt very disappointed in myself. What I liked the best was the plain naan and red bell paper hummus. The red chile and tamarind were tasty, but both were a bit too strong (hot and sweet, respectively).
Entrée was a beef short rib and spicy Durban chicken with basmati rice. Long and short of it, the chicken was really well done. Not too spicy and tender. The short rib on the other hand was very meaty tasting, like a cheaper quality of meat. I did try the shrimp in green curry sauce as well since there was a lot of confusion when this came because my mother changed her order last minute. The shrimp were perfect and not spicy at all (what my mom was afraid of).
But like I said, despite telling our server that we were ok and nothing needed to be replaced even though the other was a little messed up, be brought out an 2 extra Durban chickens and the shrimp, also a bowl of yogurt, afraid it was too spicy.
Dessert, I ordered the hazelnut rooibos tea. This is my new favorite tea EVER. It needed nothing aside from some time to steep. I wish I could find it at a store! If anyone knows where to buy this PLEASE let me know!
He also brought out some very strong African coffee for my father, despite not having ordered anything. It too was very very good. After a few sips I could tell, Id be bouncing off the walls if I had a whole cup.
I can't wait to return!
After roaming around the Animal Kingdom and lounging by the pool, we headed to Wolfgang Puck Upstairs- The Dining Room for dinner. Another restaurant we really enjoyed a number of years and ago. This time unfortunately did not live up to our expectations. Something about it was just not there. The food was good, but there are definitely placed Id rather try or return to.
My duck spring rolls were very good. Not too greasy and nicely packed. I can say, I would order this again if given a choice.
My entrée was the filet mignon. The filet was overcooked to medium well and needed a bit of salt to give it proper flavor. The side of asparagus and potatoes were very average. The potatoes were also very dry and the asparagus, just from an aesthetic point of view, were SO large that it seemed unappetizing. You can't really tell from the photo, but trust me.
Dessert again, I opted out and had a glass of Vidal wine. The wine was very sweet and really nice though :good vibes
Maybe it was an off night, but I don't think I'd go back too soon.
