A Fond Look back at the Lights of Winter

We also enjoyed the lights of winter. I would think the lights are actually simple, and cheap, to automate using today's technology. Just look at what they manage to do at the Osborn Lights. Heck, just look at what some of our neighbors do with their yard displays.

The lights of Winter were there during my first Christmas time visit to WDW. I was enchanted. And I loved seeing them each time I went to WDW that time of year. I really miss them, and I think Disney was lame to discontinue them, especially with such a weak excuse.

Sayhello

I know it gets said a lot they Disney said they got rid of them because of outdated technology. I remember hearing on another podcast the host asked a contact they had at WDW about them who said apparently what happened was they got damaged when they were taken down the last year they were up and they only discovered it when they were going to put them up and apparently had no time to repair them so they just tossed them.

Another thing they were in a major walkway so they may have credited a bottleneck with poel stopping to watch them . Osborne is different as they are not on a main traffic path in and out of the park.

I think the cast member might be mistaken about the lights being damaged. I can remember seeing the pieces rusting in a field when they were still telling people that no decision had been made.

If they were lying in field then it's most likely that's were they dumped them before bering them. Disney buries a lot of old stuff they don't need for example all of the subs from 20,000 leagues except for the one they brought to castaway cay were buried somewhere behind the MK.

I think a lot of the problem come from how they used to report things on the disney parks blog when it first started they tried to put a good spin on things and still do but now that lest they are about more honest about things going away whether we like them or not.
