Hello fellow Disney aficionados! I've been a lurker and infrequent poster on these boards since 2012, but I'm finally ready to start my own dining report.

My fiance (Marty) and I (Megan) will be heading to the World August 31-September 8 for our Disneymoon. We're doing 7 nights at the BC with free dining. This is Marty's first trip to the World, and my 12th or 13th (but really who's counting? :rotfl2:).

Since this is his first trip I wanted to try and make it as special as I could so I've been frantically searching the Dis to find ideas and to pick the best restaurants for our picky-palettes.

I guess I should tell you a little bit about us so you have an idea of who you are dealing with.

This is Marty and I from our engagement pictures last October. We've been together roughly two years and are getting married August 29th in our hometown in Ontario, Canada.

Marty (25) is a financial advisor who has never been to the World before. When we first started dating and I explained how much I love Disney he seemed intrigued and agreed to go there on our honeymoon. He's letting me do most of the planning and has been subjected to listening to me read dining menus nightly (bedtime reading?). However, I think I have a bit of a convert on my hands as he's planning future trips already and watching the podcast every night!

As for me (Megan) I'm also 25 with a job as a training coordinator. I made my first trip to Disney when I was 2 (I don't remember much aside from what I've been told, my mom forcing me to pick a Minnie stuffed animal even though I wanted Duchess from the Aristocats). I was very fortunate growing up to make many trips back with my family and friends. My last trip was in 2012 for my university graduation where my best friend and I had our first solo trip. That trip was my first real experience with Disney Dining. Before that we had never really had the DDP, so it was a new experience for sure!

I said earlier that we're sort of picky eaters, which I think is a fair statement to make. Marty is a former vegetarian who is still getting used to eating meat again. He eats chicken, and fish but can't really stomach any sort of pork and beef. We mainly eat vegetarian at home. I've been a self-described "picky eater" my entire life, however I have been trying to turn that around, and am excited to try new things this trip.

Like I said before we were lucky enough to snag the Free Dining promotion for our trip, which is an amazing bonus for a trip we were already planning to take. All Free Dining meant to us is that we could add some extra TS to our dining rotation.

The tentative schedule of food is as follows (I say tentative because I'm constantly making changes):

August 31:
Breakfast: we have an early flight out of Detroit so we'll probably eat Airport food
Lunch: Beach Club Marketplace (we land around 11 so I'm hoping we'll be at the BC around 1)
Dinner: Columbia Harbour House
We're also booked for the Wishes Dessert Party as a special treat for our first night.

September 1:
Breakfast: Beach Club Marketplace
Lunch: somewhere in the WS
Dinner: California Grill (crazy excited for this one!)

September 2:
Breakfast: we're doing EMH at AK so we'll probably grab something there
Lunch: Sanaa
Dinner: Pizza Planet (an eternal favourite of my Toy Story loving heart)

September 3
Breakfast:Main Street Bakery
Lunch: Be Our Guest
Dinner: Beaches and Cream

September 4
Breakfast:Captain's Grille
Lunch:Hurricane Hanna's or Beach Club Marketplace
Dinner: Artist Point

September 5
Breakfast: Boardwalk Bakery
Lunch: probably grab a CS at HS
Dinner: Be Our Guest

September 6
Breakfast:Beach Club Marketplace
Lunch: Columbia Harbour House
Dinner: Chefs de France

September 7
Breakfast: Trattoria al Forno
Lunch: Beach Club Marketplace
Dinner: fly out at 4:00 PM

We're hoping to spend a lot of time at the World Showcase to utilize our snack credits.

I'm really excited to do this dining report! I've been following along with a lot of you over the years and am looking forward to completing one of my own!

See ya real soon!

Congratulations! What a beautiful couple! A honeymoon in Disney World is my dream!

Y'all will be leaving right before we arrive (we're staying 9/8-9/16) but we are going to many of the same restaurants! Can't wait to hear your reviews.

Thank you so much!

A lot of these restaurants are new to me so I'm pretty excited and have been reading reviews almost daily!

Congrats! I'm sure you'll have an amazing time. Beach Club Marketplace is on there a lot! Obviously, it's convenient since you're staying there, but I'd suggest more Epcot QS (which are still relatively close by!) in the plan. For example, Les Halles for breakfast, and you could always change back to Beach Club Marketplace if you wanted to stay at the resort.

Thank you for the suggestion! We definitely want to hit Les Halles at least once if not more, so adding it to our breakfast rotation would be a perfect addition. We'll also probably switch it up and go to the Boardwalk Bakery some mornings as well. I've always stayed in the Epcot Resort area in the past and have loved the convenience of having so many resorts (not too mention two parks!) close together

Hello to a fellow Canadian:-) Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon. We will be at Beach Club / POFQ this August. You look like such a lovely couple:D
I agree with PP on trying Les Halles - it's such a great place. The Boardwalk Bakery is so yummy too. If you have an extra dining credit, the breakfast at Cape May (Goofy's Character Breakfast) is very nice.
Enjoy your dining plans- they look great!

Joining in! And congrats! My fiance and I are planning a Disneymoon next year so I am excited to read a report from fellow Disneymooners!

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I've done Cape May in the past but it was for dinner, I may switch out the Trattoria al Forno breakfast on our last day for Cape May. It may be a more "Disney" way to end our trip.

Joining in! And congrats! My fiance and I are planning a Disneymoon next year so I am excited to read a report from fellow Disneymooners!

Congratulations to you as well! I wish you all the fun and happiness planning your Disneymoon.

I'm thinking of switching out our California Grill ressie for Yachtsman. I read a not-so-positive review of Cali yesterday on the Disney Food Blog and it has left me a little service. Seeing Wishes isn't crazy important to us as we're doing the Wishes Dessert Party the night before. If we switch to Yachtsman we could go spend some time at the World Showcase after dinner. Fiance is especially excited for the World Showcase and having it so conveniently close to us. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Don't change your plans based on one not-that-bad review! I read the same review and noticed a couple of things:
1) She was underwhelmed by a soup where she requested they leave off a component.
2) She says service was bad, but the two examples she gives are refusals to divide a dish in the kitchen and adjust the window shade. That is not bad service in my personal opinion.
Personally, I've seen more bad reviews for Yachtsman than California Grill. Also, your fiance isn't a red meat eater...not that there are not other menu options, but I would never recommend going to a steakhouse (even a nice one) if you're not going to get steak.

ETA: What about Flying Fish or Monsieur Paul if you want a signature in/near Epcot?

Thank you for the suggestion! Marty looked over the menus for all the signatures again last night and we've decided to keep California Grill, except we moved the reservation up to 5:30 so we can take the monorail over to Epcot after dinner to catch Illuminations (we're seeing Wishes the night before so seeing it again isn't a huge deal to us).

Have you done Monsieur Paul in the past? We have Chefs de France scheduled for our last night but I've considered switching it with Monsieur Paul.

I did it twice when it was Bistro de Paris. First time was the highlight of our honeymoon and second time was very good, just couldn't live up to how amazing it was the first time. I don't think it's drastically changed with the switch to Monsieur Paul, but I can't speak from personal experience. Monsieur Paul would definitely be a more adult/intimate atmosphere than Chefs.

Yayyy, congrats on your upcoming wedding! I recently converted my fiance too ;) One trip and he loved it! Your plans look great.

Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much to everyone for their wonderful comments, and suggestions. I've done some reworking of our dining plans (which is no surprise to anyone who follows these boards!) The ones in bold are the new additions

Breakfast: Boardwalk Bakery
Lunch: Backlot Express?? (I haven't heard too much about this place)
Dinner: California Grill (crazy excited for this one!)

September 2:
Breakfast: Beach Club Marketplace
Lunch: Sanaa
Dinner: Pizza Planet (an eternal favourite of my Toy Story loving heart)

September 3
Breakfast:Main Street Bakery
Lunch: Be Our Guest
Dinner: Beaches and Cream

September 4
Breakfast:Captain's Grille
Lunch: Tangerine Cafe (I'm looking forward to trying the Vegetarian Platter)
Dinner: Artist Point

September 5
Breakfast: Starring Rolls
Lunch: Beach Club Marketplace
Dinner: Be Our Guest

September 6
Breakfast:Be Our Guest (stalked Disney Dining for 3 days to get a pre-park opening 8:15 ressie)
Lunch: Columbia Harbour House
Dinner: Les Halles

September 7
Breakfast: Cape May Cafe
Lunch: Beach Club Marketplace
Dinner: fly out at 4:00 PM

I'd like to think that this is the last time I will make any changes, but if I were being honest with myself that would be a complete lie.

Although I am pretty over the moon to have snagged a Be Our Guest pre-park opening ressie. I've been hoping for a way to get us inside the park before opening but wasn't crazy about Cinderella's Royal Table ($116 for two people or 2 dining credits each!) and while Crystal Palace has always been fun we aren't big buffet people (or large breakfast people).

Fiance was surprisingly happy with the addition of Cape May Cafe - I thought he would hate a character breakfast but when I showed him Goofy dressed up in his swim gear, Marty was all over that!

Thanks again everyone! I can't wait to share our experiences/pictures will you!

74 days to go!!!!

The One Where I Post Disney Food Pictures...
I wanted to do a post all about the food choices I am excited to eat on my upcoming trip. Please feel free to share some suggestions of your own! I hate to admit that in past trips I mostly grabbed popcorn when I was feeling snack-y and didn't venture must past the chicken fingers (I maintain they are still my fave food). As I mentioned in my first post, I am trying to expand my palette (which I credit a lot to DF because his food limitations have forced me to become more creative in the kitchen). A lot of the things I am excited to try are beloved by the Disboards so thank you to all of you for making these sound so delicious!!!

So.... first up ...

Is the Cheshire Cake Cup at MK's Cheshire Cafe. These look so delicious and I love anything with sprinkles and cake! And frosting because who can resist frosting???

LOOK AT ALL THAT FROSTING!! AND SPRINKLES!!

Next up on my list of Must Do's (watching Stacy is also a Must Do!)

THE CARROT CAKE COOKIE FROM HS' WRITER'S STOP

I can't believe I have never experienced this deliciousness before. Cream cheese frosting need I say more? (I like frosting.)

The third item is something I have actually had before at Disney but I'm looking forward to having again

Perfection. That is all.

Some other things I can't wait to try:
  • Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli from the California Grill
  • Filet Mignon at the California Grill
  • No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream
  • Vegetarian Platter at Tangerine Cafe
  • ANYTHING from Les Halles
Do you have any suggestions for interesting snacks to pick up? Let me know what your favorites are!
