A Few Use Year Questions

I have seen several posts about an October UY being ideal because it puts Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and Spring Break inside the 100% banking deadline, and others say June is preferred because it includes the summer months...

What, exactly, does this mean, and why is having a certain time of year within the deadline a benefit?

What else should I consider when picking a Use Year?

Are you able to pick any Use Year when you purchase a contract?

For those who are in the habit of cancelling reservations on short notice, use year has a LOT of meaning, because it can effect banking of those points. For many, cancelling isn't an issue u der normal circumstances, so use year isn't a huge issue. We have been members for 10 years, and have never once had to cancel so late that we weren't able to bank points. We even do most of our traveling at a time close enough to our use year, that any late cancellation WOULD effect us too. I just don't see it as a huge issue.

When you put it like that, I don't see it as being much of an issue for me, either. Whew! One less thing to toil over.
