We are trying to schedule our first trip to the fort (and disney):donald: and have a couple of questions.

First off we heard that if you have a AAA card, you can receive a 20% discount, but when I talked to our AAA agent the numbers she came up with are more expensive than the quote I got from disney.com. Has anyone gone the AAA route or just booked directly from disney? Which is the better way to go???

Secondly, we will be there Nov 13-19, but I found out that the fort's anniversary is on the 20th. Does anyone know if they will be doing something special on that day? Should we extend our visit an extra day????

Any help with this would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks!!!

AAA discounts are limited. I have gotten them a couple of times, and I always book directly thru Disney. It's sort of a hit and miss. You have to ask when booking, and if they have AAA discounts available, you can get one.

We had reservations booked for next week through a TA and originally couldn't get AAA. All of a sudden we did get them. :cool1: Same for September got them for that stay as well..

As Ftwildernessguy said. HIT or MISS!!:confused3

I tried for 9 months to ge AAA rate on our Jan 2011 stay, no luck. 2 days before we arrived I tried again and it was available. Moral of the story, Never give up !

I will confirm that story (as if it needs to be confirmed)

I am interested in hearing more about what you may have heard about the Fort's 40th anniversary.

Did a castmember mention something to you about a celebration?

I haven't heard anything about it.

For what it's worth, here's what was done to celebrate the Fort's 35th anniversary in 2006:

In my opinion, none of these activities would justify extending your trip, but maybe they are planning bigger things for the 40th anniversary?

I just got the AAA discount applied to our stay at FW. When I booked a couple of weeks ago they didn't have it. Said I should try back in April. Then when I called the other day to check on something else I mentioned it and voila, it was available. Who knows. I'm not sure of the percentage but it knocked us down by close to $600. Cool. So yes, keep checking back. Someone said to say, "Is Disney offering any other special pricing or discounts during our stay?" every single time you call them. You never know. Sometimes you may get a discount applied and then a better one will pop up and they'll switch you to that. Again, you never know what you're going to get so always ask!
