A Few Questions...

We have a trip coming up Dec. 3-12. Originally, we were to drive up from Naples, however DH was diagnosed with colon cancer in August, had surgery in September and is now on chemo, so we never made it down to Florida. I wanted to cancel from the beginning, but DH wouldn't hear of it, he says he wants something to look forward to, so I reluctantly made flight arrangements last week. I do not have any of my "Disney stuff" here in Maryland, like my passes which will expire on Dec. 8, my DVC membership card for discounts, my Disney Rewards card, my DVC confirmation paperwork for check-in, etc. Will they give me replacement passes for the last few days and where would I get them? I know I read a lot about people having trouble getting a new membership card. Will MS send me a new one? Should I even bother calling to get a copy of my confirmation letter? Unlike credit cards, Member Services will not change my address seasonally, so all my mail from them still goes to Florida first, then gets forwarded here, but I think my forwarding time frame ended earlier this month since we thought we'd be back by then.

Another question, should I cancel the Dining Plan now or wait till it gets closer to when we are going? DH doesn't really seem to be eating much (he just started his second three-week cycle) and I'm thinking his appetite will not improve before we go. Does anyone have experience in this area? We're probably going to be eating in the room for much of this trip (we're probably going to be IN the room for much of this trip, glad we have a 1BR), so I'm going to use one of the grocery delivery services for the first time. Any recommendations? How soon before you arrive do you have to order? What are some good things to make in your room? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as we have only ever eaten breakfast in the room.

Thanks for your help.

If you can get on the DVC Member site, you can print the screen that has your confirmation number and travel info. I wouldn't call for a replacement, I've never needed the letter to check-in, though I do like to have it for peace of mind. If you need replacement APs, they should be able to print them for you at one of the parks or DtD Guest Services.

If you need a DVC Membership Card ,they can print a temporary for you at the sales center at SSR.

The dining plan would need to be canceled at least 3 days prior to your arrival. I've never used a grocery service. Some only take a specific number of deliveries per day, so I would order ASAP. I hope your husband feels well on the trip. Disney can certainly give an emotional boost to those in less than perfect health.

So sorry that you and your DH are going through this, but I agree that the trip would be something to look forward to. I assume your passes are APs. APs can be reprinted at Guest Services as long as you have proper ID. I don't know about the DVC Member card, but think you can get another confirmation emailed to you. Do you have anyone at home (neighbor, relative) who can mail your things to you? You still have plenty of time.

Either way, good luck and enjoy yourselves. You deserve some fun.

I'm with your husband. Always make the plans so you have things to look forward to. If things happen and you have to cancel, so be it.

Hopefully, you will not have any need but if you should encounter any medical problem while you are on your trip, reach out to Disney for help. They tend to be very helpful in getting any help you might need. 911 first but then call the front desk. In the parks, reach out to any CM or Security and they'll get the ball rolling.

I'm not sure what to suggest for in-room dining. I think I'd opt for those things that you enjoy and are simple to manage. The full kitchen is there so you could do just about anything. Sandwiches, salads, burgers come to mind as quick and easy. I'm not sure which resort you are staying at but you might want to bring pre-made items from the different restaurants back to the room too.

I think you would be wise to cancel the dining plan. When DH and I did a trip just after his radiation treatments ended, we were glad to not have any schedule that required us to be anywhere at a specific time. It was wonderful having the trip to look forward to as the treatments proceeded but we were happy to just hang out and soak up some WDW magic once we got there. Maybe your DH will be different but mine got tired pretty fast so we took it easy. Blessings to you. December at Disney is magical and sure to be just what the doctor ordered!
