A few questions on deciding which company to rent ECV from?

I've been reading old posts here and I am under a few impressions.....
Apple seems to have more battery and Maintenence issues lately
Buena vista is well regarded but they haven't emailed or called me back..if they make it this hard to take my money what happens if I need service?
Walker gets great reviews, but seems more expensive.

How much of a bother is it to have to meet uo with a company to drop off and pick up?
We are having a resort morning our first day so we don't need it until around noon, will be relaxing before Halloween party. The day we leave we wil be at magic kingdom until around 1 and our DME doesn't leave until 3:30. However with two young kids I don't want one of us to get stuck waiting for someone to pick the scooter up. Or is that not a big deal really? Staying at pop.

I've rented from apple once but it was only for two days..all was well but that was 18 months ago....

I am at my 45 day mark tomorrow :) I want to get this set uo!

I would call directly. Call the companies you are interested in - don't rely upon email; it is too easy for your email to be overlooked. These companies all live and die by the phone, so they pay attention to whoever is on the line. It's kind of like the squeaky wheel gets the grease... or in this case, the person who is on the line gets the attention! :)

That's crazy in this day and age! Buena vista never called me back, and when I tried again their line was always busy so I gave up. But I will try calling today thanks!

I don't have an answer persay for you - I am in the same boat trying to determine who to rent from. I finally did get through to Buena Vista last night, same calling issues as you, and don't use their toll free number they claim they are moving lines or something. For me, I did not get the warm fuzzies speaking with them. I have reserved with Walker fro our Cruise following our stay at the World but still have not decided on who to use at the World - may just go with Walker, but my hesitation as been the pick up and drop off issue.

Let me know how it goes and what you decide....

Good Luck!

I booked with Buena Vista over the phone for our upcoming stay at PORS as I had some questions ... even received a 10% discount as I had booked with them before back in 2012 - liked them as they leave the ECV with Bell Services so you do not have to be present. It'll be waiting for us when we get to the resort after disembarking from the Fantasy and then we drop it off the night before we leave and that's it ... they answered all the questions I had about the rental so they seem like a good company to deal with ...

FYI, you want warm fuzzies on the phone, call Scooterbug! I didn't know who to contact either, but I called them first. (I "think" they provide the scooters for Disney? But I could be wrong.) VERY patient because it was my first time and my husband has a very hard time walking, but he has never used an ECV because he just doesn't walk that far. Disney is another story though... you HAVE to go long distances.

Another excellent company is Randy 's Mobility. Prices are good, and it's always been their policy to meet with the customer at both ends of the rental.

If you haven't looked at the disABILITIES FAQs thread, it is near the top of this board or you can find a link in my signature.
Post 2 of that thread has a list of rental places, with contact information.
For the same company, someone might have a great experience and someone else might have a 'never do this again' experience.

Your contact with the company is a good indication of what your experience may be. If nothing else, feeling comfortable or uncomfortable may color your experience.
Two other things to keep in mind
- people are more likely to tell others about a negative experience than a positive one.
- larger or busier companies may have more complaints, but they may be a smaller percentage of experiences because the number of rentals is so large.
