Hello, I'm seriously considering staying in one of the cabins for Jan. 2009. A few questions if you don't mind.

Can the golf carts be charged @ the cabin or would I need to do this else where?

Is the RAC system in use at the Fort like at all other Disney properties if we fly a participating airline?

From what I have read the green boat to MK is shared with WL? Then there are blue boats that just travel the loop of FW, CR & WL?

We will be going to (before park opens) early breakfast @ MK so I assume the way to go is to take the blue flag boat to the CR and monorail to MK?

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Peace.
Colleen

Can the golf carts be charged @ the cabin or would I need to do this else where? Yes, there is a place to plug in the cart at the cabins.

Is the RAC system in use at the Fort like at all other Disney properties if we fly a participating airline? Yes, it will take you to the front desk and they will get you to your cabin.

From what I have read the green boat to MK is shared with WL? Then there are blue boats that just travel the loop of FW, CR & WL? Close, the MK boat is now a direct route instead of being shared, the other one is as you said.

We will be going to (before park opens) early breakfast @ MK so I assume the way to go is to take the blue flag boat to the CR and monorail to MK? That seem to be what most people do.

Enjoy your stay!

it is also a lovely walk from CR to MK, 5-10 minutes.

Yes, the Resort Airline Checkin does work at Ft. Wilderness. It is located at the Reception Outpost just outside the door. The desk is open from 5am - 1pm and you can check your bags with a participating airline between 3 hours before your flight and 12 hours before your flight.

When you are ready to go to the Outpost call them, and they will send a van over to pick you and your stuff up and transport you up front. (Give them plenty of time, as their Bell Services staff is not as extensive as other resorts and they have more ground to cover). You can then check your stuff with RAC, have your carryons stored, and go play until it is time to board your DME bus.

Thank you all for the answers!

You guys are really a very friendly bunch.

I grew up in a camping family as a matter of fact every vacation since I was a small child to when I finally went away for college was a summer in NH camping. It is going to be really nice to be staying @ the Fort.

I travel now with my mom to WDW and we usually try to stay at one of the monorail resorts as she has some mobility issues and it just makes getting to MK (her favorite park) much easier.

I have shown her all the info. from here and she is excited too about being able to be in the camping mode again. Not really roughing it though in a fully furnished cabin but it's close enough!

Sorry long post...but I am really excited about this trip! Thanks again.

Have a great day.

Peace.

As others have said the walk from the CR to MK is short and a very nice walk. I believe, that unless the weather is a factor it is much faster to walk than to take the monorail. IIRC the resort monorail runs clockwise so you will end up stopping at the TTC, Poly and GF before you get to the MK. Something to keep in mind.

Good point about the monorail direction. Never really thought about that.
