I just wanted to pass on a few of my favorite things that I stock up on when I'm visiting England!

- Imperial Leather soap, any kind! and deodorant

- Ariel Laundry soap

- Persil Dish soap, or Laundry Soap

- White chocolate:hyper: any chocolate!

- Hello magazine

- Roast Chicken Crips (Walkers)

- Indian Food, yummy! It's not the same here in Toronto

If any of you have been to Canada, what are a few of your favorite things to stock up on? If not Canada, the US. I tend to bring real maple syrup to people I visit when going to England.

We bought some real Canadian Maple Syrup three weeks ago when we "visited" Canada in Epcot.

It was VERY nice !!

You have some good choices there :)

Never been to Canada but I like to bring Reeses and Goldfish back from the US :)

I have never been to Canada but my parents and DH have. They brought back real maple syrup too. When I go to the USA I have to bring back Oreos, I love them, especially the regular and mint ones!

Hi cabmom,

I have never visited Canada, but I would love to - it's way up there on my wish list of places to visit. I would never buy anything other than genuine Canadian maple syrup which is now readily available in the UK.

I love American peanut butter and always used to bring that home, but Skippy is available here now so I don't bother. Reese's cups are available too, but not Reese's Pieces or other peanut butter based candy, so I do still occasionally bring some back.

I hate mint flavoured toothpaste. Dh bought some Colgate Total in New York in December which has a completely different flavour to that here in the UK - sort of cinnamon/cloves - so I shall be stocking up on that when we next visit the States in July.

I have a huge Oreo's cookie jar which I bought in Jerry's Home Store. At one time I could buy packets of Oreo's in most UK supermarkets, but they all seem to have stopped stocking them, so I now buy them from Cybercandy along with Reese's Pieces, M&Ms Crispy, etc. I can't stand Oreo's, but I just like to have the jar full  . Dh and the kids are banned from eating them, but the jar always seems to empty itself. There are six in it at the moment and it holds around 4-5 regular packs!

Never been to Canada but there are a few things I love to bring back from Florida:

A1 steak sauce - was passed a bottle when I ordered a steak in Chili's a few visits back and I fell in love with it
French's mustard - I can get it in the UK yes but not in the size they do in Walmart :teeth:
Hershey bars - they're for my brother, he adores them

I also bring back the huge tubs of 500 ibuprofen coz you can't buy them like that over here, and at $7 a pop in Walmart they are a bargain! Not that I've finished 500 of them yet but they're handy just in case.

Oh and last time we went, I fell in love with cheese cheetos but I didn't bring any back otherwise I'd have scoffed them within a few hours, let alone days :Pinkbounc

Anz :earsgirl:

We buy those mega-size bottles of Ibuprofen too, and we live here. I'm not going to tell you guys what they put into Oreo cookies, you'll never eat another one.

My favorite things about the UK are, Walker's Crisps (why can't we get them over here), British newspapers (good writing), British comedies, and the countryside.

Oh go on, please tell us...

Oh, all right. The rumor is that it's a Crisco-like substance with sugar in it. Doesn't that sound yummy? ;)

LOL - we bought a tub of 1000 in Wal-grens (sp) last time we were there.

Kinda makes a mockery of going to your local Boots and only being allowed to by 32 in one go  (and the 32 probably costing nearly as much as the 1000 :p )

Thanks - now that does sound bad in doughnuts. ( It makes me think of Roald Dahl's book "The Fantastic Mr Fox" where one of the farmer's eats doughnuts with goose livers in them.)

I always buy my vitamins in the US. The same brand multi-vits in the UK work out at about 12 pence each. In Wal-mart they work out at 4 pence each ! Rip off Britain yet again ?

From England I miss Topic bars, The Sun (it's not the same online) and M&S ready meals. In the US we bring back Marshmallow Fluff (which my boyfriend eats out of the tub with a spoon), Zima beer, and the free hot sauce you get from Taco Bell

UKDEB,

Colgate total comes in mint flavor also, so be sure to read the box.

The Hershey bars in canada are actually much better than the US ones....no waxy aftertaste.there...now you have a reason to visit Canada :-)

LOL, Canadian Hersey bars are better than the US version because it's cooler in Canada! Hershey's American chocolate was originally marketed as being less likely to melt in summer heat, and they manage that by adding paraffin to it. (It was originally done at the request of the US military, btw.) Anyway, we're used to the recipe, it's cheaper to make that way, and it still sells well, so the US is apparently stuck with it. I'll prefer a UK Cadbury Dairy Milk any day.

I LOVE CADBURY! I did the tour of Cadbury World in Bourneville at the end of December '03. It was awesome and liquid chocolate is truly awesome!!! YUMMY!
My friends in the UK also ask me to bring them Hershey Cookies and Creme chocolate bars.
