Very cool! I will never, for the life of myself, understand why all of the 'helping' jobs pay so little. As an advocate for a domestic violence shelter, I often laugh when asked how much I make. I tell them that I am one of the few college educated professionals that make LESS than a first year teacher.

Because jobs like this (i.e. Firemen, Policemen, Teachers,military, etc.) are paid with taxes. I would make a bet today that most people would say that these people deserve more money, but would vote down an increase in taxes to pay them a higher wage. In my opinion these jobs should be the highest paid and the hardest jobs to get. We should be trying to attract the cream of the crop for these jobs.
