A&E at EMH Rope Drop

I tried very hard to avoid asking yet another Anna and Elsa question but I can't seem to find any recent experience with the line at EMH rope drop. I'm wondering if anyone knows what kind of crowd is headed that way lately? I'm hopeful that since there aren't FP during EMH the line may build a little more slowly.

I mistakenly thought my huge mom of the day win with our BOG breakfast right into being second in line to met them back in June got me off the hook for this trip. But my four year old started telling people this week that the thing she's most excited about is seeing them again this trip! So, I don't have FP of course and I'm just wondering what our chances are for a relatively pain free experience? Otherwise I'm telling her that they are busy with their castle lighting duties and we can't meet them this time but we'll see them onstage!

I know this is a pretty specific question but bumping just in case anyone knows how EMH has been lately. Thanks!

It's tough to answer because of the variables involved with Rope Drop. There is Rope Drop, and there is ROPE DROP. The people who arrive earliest and are pressed up against the turnstiles before the park opens are there at ROPE DROP. The people who are barely past the Security Checkpoint two minutes before the park opens are there at Rope Drop. There is a huge difference between the two, and we have no way of knowing which one you will be. If you are at the very front, you will have a 5 minute wait. If you are at the back of the RD pack, you could see a line that builds to 45 minutes to an hour. Either way, you are correct that during EMH, you will not be cut off by FP people, so the line you see is the line you get.

Thanks for your response. I guess my main interest/question is whether or not the mad rush for A&E still exists or if it seems to be that more people are trying for SDMT at rope drop. I was there for a few rope drops June 2014 and then 2015 and saw the line build to a 240 minute wait within 15-20 minutes of opening and watched people get almost run down and wouldn't have dreamed trying to meet them at RD for that reason. I've been watching waits recently and it seems to be a lot more reasonable- 45 minutes to an hour regularly. So I'm curious if the really intense rush of people there first thing is a little less crazy.
