A DREAM is a WISH your HEART makes ..... 18 days of Free Disney Dining! (with pix)

That calamari DID look good!

But I'm drooling over the magic cookie bar. I need to make some of those again. Mmmmm...

They are best when they are fresh and still moist. Most of the time, people let them dry out too much. Mmmmm...

LOL I have been eating all day, and now I am hungry again, thanks to eveyone's food reports. :rotfl:

Keep 'em coming! :thumbsup2

I'm loving your reviews! Your descriptions are great and really helping me decide what I'm going to eat on our next trip. Thank You!

I'm really enjoying your reviews. Just curious is the food better at DLRP?
Looking forward to reading the rest of them.

great reviews and photos - except that pale green tea pudding....

that one could have been improved upon with more food coloring!

Aug 19 - Riverside Mill breakfast, a snack from Japan, lunch at the Mara and a few more treats from Goofy's Candy Co and dinner at Boatwright's

Fay was here to stay! While Tom brewed some tea for the two of us I used a break in the rainshowers to walk over to the foodcourt and pick up some breakfast. This is where the Marks and Spencer bag, I have had for quite a while came in very handy, LOL!

I got the Breakfast Platter, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage and biscuit and a Bagel with cream cheese for Tom.

IMG_7545.jpg

and I picked up a Chocolate Croissant for myself. The Breakfast Platter was the usual fare and the Croissant was quite nice.

IMG_7547.jpg

After a leisurely breakfast we got ready to tackle Fay. We went to Epcot and were amazed how few people were actually there. We did a few rides and walked around World Showcase. In Japan we were intrigued by their snack variety and picked up a box of Pucca, small fish filled with chocolate cream.

Around noon we thought about some lunch, but since it was raining hard by then most of the restaurants were packed. We thought about going back to the resort, but then I remembered something else I wanted to try - Zebra Domes. So we got into the car and drove over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and went straight over to Mara. We were surprised to see it basically empty.

I felt like trying their Fried Shrimp Platter. I LOVE shrimp and hadn't had any in a few days, so why not. They were very yummy and we decided to share our entrees again.
Tom had the African Stew. The photo does NOT do it any justice!!!! The real thing looked much better and it tasted really nice. We shared this one too! I wish we could have fit Mara in another time, as they had a few more things I would really love to try. I will have to make a note to myself not to forget to go back there for Free Dining 09!

IMG_7612.jpg

IMG_7609.jpg

For our dessert we both chose the Zebra Domes. Oh my god, heaven on earth. I love creamy, sweet things! Yum, yum, yum - gone!!!!

IMG_7614.jpg

After we had enjoyed our lunch we refreshed our memories of the AKL. We stayed there for Hurricane Charley a few years ago. What an experience that was!

By early afternoon we decided to go to DTD and do a little more shopping. Needless to say we could not leave DTD without another visit to Goofy's. We had some more of the "make your own" treats, which we enjoyed for many days to come.

We got a rice crispy treat, dipped in dark chocolate, chocolate chips and chopped pecans, drizzled with white chocolate. Very rich, very yummy!

IMG_7619.jpg

IMG_7635.jpg

Next we got a Marshmellow treat, dipped into dark chocolate, oreo crumbs and crushed peanut butter cups, drizzled with white chocolate. So yum, yum!!

IMG_7632.jpg

Treat no 3 were the pretzel rods. All three were dipped into dark chocolate (can you see a trend? can you guess my favorite kind of chocolate?), then one them was dipped into chocolate chips, one into oreo crumbs and one into butterfinger crumbs. All three were drizzled with white chocolate. Oh boy, these were yummy!!! I wish Goofy's weren't so far away and I could get some more right NOW!!

To be continued ..........
Next up - dinner at Boatwright's!

I am loving your reviews but I must say that your frog pics are giving me the heebie jeebies. I literally have chills running up and down my back just thinking about them being near you. And to think I actually considered staying at POR. I'm thinking that's a no-go now.

I am loving your reviews and pics thanks for sharing, that frog I would have had a heart attack, I am absolutely terrified of them, I so wish I could get over the fear x

I am so terrified of frogs that one stopped me dead in my tracks. Not odd you would think except for the fact that it was in the middle of the street and I was in my Jeep with all the windows rolled up. I actually ended up cautiously inching my way around it terrified that it was going to jump on my car.

It's nice to know I'm not the only person afraid of frogs. I've actually never met anyone else.

I'm #3! I, too, am totally FREAKED out by frogs! I think it's the JUMP factor, and that their are awfully "big" for something that jumps! ewww!

I'm also dreadfully terrified of praying mantis. They are just PLAIN scary and creepy looking.

ANYHOW...those treats at Goofy's look awsome! Making me feel a sugar rush already!

Is there coconut in that Magic Cookie Bar? Not fond of coconut.

I've never been to Goofy's Candy Co--but after seeing your pictures, I will have to go!!

Thanks for sharing! :)

I was so happy to see your pictures from Tokyo Dining a few reviews ago. We have the dining plan and will be going there for the first time and I have never had Sushi before so I will be ordering a Sushi and Tempura combo. Hopefully our server will be able to help me out in what to choose and let me know whats what on my plate. I've heard Sushi is gorgeous and so I can't wait to find out what I've been missing :yay:!

I am really looking forward to visiting Goofy's Candy Co. - those treats look delicious! :cloud9:

Great reviews. Count me in!!

Welcome! I am glad you're here.

That frog! :lmao: He's like your trip mascot.

I know you didn't plan it this way, but thank you so much for posting your Flame Tree BBQ review before I left! :thumbsup2 I've been debating counter service in AK, and your meals look yummy! Can't wait to try it myself.

Now, I'm also very interested in Tokyo Dining, looks like some excellent Japanese cuisine. :thumbsup2

You are right Froggie needs to be our trip mascot! Thanks for the suggestion, LOL!
Hope you enjoy Flame Tree - we are SO looking forward to go there again next summer - we are already booked on the bounceback - MORE free food, LOL!

Great reviews and pics...I'm hungry! It looks like you had a great time!

Thank you! Yes, we had a ball!! I can't wait to go back!

That sushi looks great:goodvibes

Tokyo Dining was nice, now if I could have only understood what the server girl was telling me, LOL!!

I can't wait for Raglan Road!! That tempura looked heavenly and light as a feather, I'm definitely going to have to give it a go!

That tempura WAS heavenly. And I hope you liked our review of Raglan Road. The food was wonderful - we just didn't like the noise level in the restaurant.

Thanks for the Tokyo Dining review. It looks really good, and I'm looking forward to trying it.

Hope you'll enjoy Tokyo dining - it was worth giving it a try - wonderful view of Spaceship Earth included!

I am loving your reviews and pics thanks for sharing, that frog I would have had a heart attack, I am absolutely terrified of them, I so wish I could get over the fear x

Sorry about Froggie scaring you - we kind of grew very attached to him. We would always look for him when we got back to the resort and needless to say, one of the 3 "residents" was ALWAYS home.

I've just read your report so far - it's great and I love your photos! :thumbsup2

Your report might help me to decide where I want to try next April. :goodvibes

Thank you for your kind words. I hope you'll have such a wonderful experience as we had - this trip was heavenly!

Ribs from Flame Tree...mmmmmmh popcorn:: I'm asking myself: I want to go ther now! ^^ I'm looking forward to your next post!

Don't remind me of the Flame Tree ribs - I would love some NOW! Next post up soon!

Great update. I am flattered that you have read my trip reports :flower3:

The tempura at Tokyo Dining looks amazing - I'm afraid I can't say the same for the raw fish

I love your little froggy 'mascot' at Oak Manor. How sweet.

Looking forward to your review of Raglan Road.

Your trip reports were so much fun - they kept me up until 4am one night, LOL!

Great report! :thumbsup2
I'm really enjoying reading it.

Keep up the good work! :wizard:

Thank you - more coming up in just a little while.

Keep the reviews coming, love your froggie :goodvibes

More reviews on the way - more froggie too!

OMG I'm ready to grab the food right off my screen! Great photo's! Great descriptions! I'm ready for MORE!!

Thank you! More on the way!

Lovin' your report!

I am so glad you like it!

Can't wait to try RR in November. That calamari is calling my name!:thumbsup2

It definitely was calling ours, LOL! It was VERY good!!!

That calamari DID look good!

But I'm drooling over the magic cookie bar. I need to make some of those again. Mmmmm...

You are so right about the magic cookie bars - they are just disneyliscious!!! Mine didn't have time to dry out - they didn't live that long! LOL

I'm loving your reviews! Your descriptions are great and really helping me decide what I'm going to eat on our next trip. Thank You!

I am glad I can be of help, LOL! I envy you, you are going to WDW soooooo soon!

I am really looking forward to pics of treats from Goofy's Candy Co, bring it on! popcorn::

Boy I am way behind in answering this - Goofy's is already up, LOL! Hope you enjoyed the photos - we brought home a lot of these treats and they are still so good!!!

I'm really enjoying your reviews. Just curious is the food better at DLRP?
Looking forward to reading the rest of them.

I am glad you are enjoying the food review! Food at TS in DLRP is more European, but unfortunately they don't change their menus very often and there are only a handful of restaurants compared to WDW.
CS is very McDonald's and Pizza Hut like. Nothing special.

great reviews and photos - except that pale green tea pudding....

that one could have been improved upon with more food coloring!

You are right - the colour of the tea pudding wasn't very inviting, but I have to disagree about the food colouring - I'd rather have it pale and tasty than stuffed full of artificial colour.

Loving your reviews. The heavenly ham looks really good.

Both the heavenly ham and the Shepards Pie were really good!

MORE MORE! Keep 'em comin!

Be patient please, just a few more answers, before we are going to review Boatwright's for dinner.

great report!

Thank you so much!

I am sorry Froggie is creeping you out! But you should not rule out POR! We have stayed there a lot of time and this is the first time we encountered Froggie and his family! And he was VERY well behaved!!

I'm #3! I, too, am totally FREAKED out by frogs! I think it's the JUMP factor, and that their are awfully "big" for something that jumps! ewww!

Is there coconut in that Magic Cookie Bar? Not fond of coconut.

Kim

Yes there is coconut in the magic cookie bars.

I've never been to Goofy's Candy Co--but after seeing your pictures, I will have to go!!

Thanks for sharing! :)

Before this trip we have never been inside Goofy's! But reading about it here on the DIS made ME want to go there too. We went there quite often once we had checked it out!
Enjoy it!!!!!

I was so happy to see your pictures from Tokyo Dining a few reviews ago. There are several combo platters. The two we had were very good! I am sure you will enjoy Tokyo Dining! We sure did!

I am really looking forward to visiting Goofy's Candy Co. - those treats look delicious! :cloud9:

You will LOVE watching them make those treats and they are just as good as they look!

enjoying your reviews! that shrimp platter looks good..i'm a big shrimp fan myself

I am glad you enjoy the reviews. I LOVE shrimp! You should see what we eat when we don't dine at WDW restaurants - I think the waiters at Bubba Gump's know us by name, LOL!

On with the show ...........

Aug 19 continued, dinner at Boatwright's Dining Hall.

We went back to the resort after another shopping spree at DTD and needless to say our friend Froggie was enjoying the wet weather.

IMG_7658.jpg

We settled in our room and nibbled a bit off of our treats from Goofy.
Fay had come to stay and we were relaxing in the room watching TV.

IMG_7647.jpg

We were discussing cancelling our reservation at Boatwright's since it was raining so hard, but then decided to stick with the reservation and just try to get over there as dry as possible. So we put on our ponchos and were lucky enough to only experience light rain while walking to Boatwright's. When we reached the podium we were surprised to see so many people line up. Those without a reservation were told that there was at least a 60 - 90 minutes wait - ouch!!!
We were glad we had our reservation and once we were signed in we were seated within 10 minutes.
We had a nice table overlooking the podium and there were people trying to get a dinner table all the time we were there.
Our server was really nice (forgot her name) and she suggested some drinks with our meal.
Tom tried the Ultimate Long Island Iced Tea - lots of alcohol, but still very yummy,

IMG_7666.jpg

while I ordered the Frozen Strawberry Margarita. I am not really into alcoholic drinks but this one was really nice, even though you could taste the alcohol in it.

IMG_7663.jpg

Right after our drinks arrived the server brought over some cornbread and butter. It was slightly warm and melt in your mouth - sooooooo good! The bread alone would have been worth walking over to Boatwright's in the rain.

IMG_7662.jpg

We had had a look at the menu on the internet so I wanted to try the Grilled Filet Mignon - served with Crawfish Hollandaise and Three-Cheese Hash-Brown Potatoes. The Filet was cooked perfectly and the Hollandaise was just so good with a scent of crawfish and the potatoes - too yummy to talk about them.

IMG_7667.jpg

Tom's choice was the Slow-roasted Prime Rib - with Three-Cheese Hash Brown Potatoes and Cabernet Sauce. Again - prime rib just cooked perfectly, so tender! Potatoes heavenly, but the Cabernet Sauce was out of this world.

IMG_7672.jpg

By now our server had seen us taking pix of all of our food and came over asking if she should take a photo of the two of us. She was VERY surprised that I was going to use the photos in my tripreports/homepage and to post here on the DIS.

Since we were on the DDP she "insisted" on us having dessert. Not that it did need much to "talk us into it", LOL!
Tom went with the Chocolate Cake - with Fresh Cream and Raspberry Sauce which was very chocolatey and very rich, but SO yummy!!

IMG_7681.jpg

I was intrigued by the Bananas Foster Angel Food Cake - served with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. The Ice Cream was nothing to write home about, I have had better before, BUT THE CAKE was so soft and melt in your mouth and so yummy together with the Banana Foster Sauce. I was stuffed even before I tasted it, but it was VERY hard to put the spoon down, LOL!

IMG_7675.jpg

Well, here is a photo of "the two of us" with our desserts - don't we look happy?

IMG_7674.jpg

We could not believe that we had been to POR so often and had had breakfast quite a few times at Boatwright's but never had been for dinner. What a hidden gem - we will definitely come back next summer!

When we finally returned to Oak Manor it looked like Froggie was looking out for us.

IMG_7682.jpg

We were full and tired and fell onto our beds watching more of the Fay coverage.
