A Dream is a Wish my Visa Makes.... stories & pictures from shopping & laughing

Oh my gosh those are AMAZING!!!! Wow I can't believe you made them they look so legitimate! WOW! :thumbsup2 Seriously those are probably the coolest shoes I've ever seen. If you make anymore make sure you post a picture!

Im so excited, I made a video :rotfl:

Its from my iphone, so the quality is kind of mediocre... but at least I just got a pedicure from my favorite place in Boston.

I couldnt think of any other way to describe how sparkly they are! If anyone wants to try this project - I would be more than happy to share my steps, tips & experience from doing it :goodvibes

Wow those are so beautiful!!!! Great job!!! This could be a side job for you, think of how much extra Disney cash you could make!!! My girlfriend has a dance store, they put Swavarski (sp??) crystals on everything, you should see her iPhone!! Those shoes are whew!!!! No words......

(oh and FYI, she gives me a discount on the crystals, so PM me if you need some at a pretty good price)

LOVE LOVE LOVE your glass slippers...I really like it without the heel done..good choice!! Those came out beautiful!!

the story goes something like this:

I had always wanted a pair of glass slippers, just like cinderella. The sparkly heels that changed her life and opened the doorway to princess-life. While buying my wedding shoes in las vegas, i fell in love with a pair of pink cutout christian louboutins with gold aurora borealis swarovski crystals. I almost hurled myself on the ground and sold everything in my possession to own them... However, the cost was too high. I had already justified the barbie pink louboutins, and as it was, they were expensive.

Alas, here they are in all their glory - and they are what started my quest: However, $2500 for shoes was not going to happen.... Thats not to say i didnt spend $50 gambling in vegas to try and hit the "its meant to be, destiny, fate" lotto. I ended up with no shoes, and $50 in the red.

i ended up leaving with these babies instead, the hyper prive slingbacks in shocking pink satin. I was happy and grateful, but i never forgot the way the original ones sparkled.

so- fast forward to my 26th birthday. I wanted my own glass slippers... And i knew i still couldnt pay over 2k for them... So i was going to have to make them. I found these patent-leather type gray slingbacks, for $20 in my size... And started my mission. After checking out many different crystals from swarovski wholesale, i settled for aquamarine blue. It was my birth stone, and it was the color that seemed closest to "glass slipper" blue. 10+ hours later (over several days), with one glue mishap and a stiff neck... I had these babies. My first attempt at sparkly shoes! Certainly, not to be my last. I already want gray ones and hot pink ones!

you can see i started to do the heel, however decided against it. For some reason i liked it better without the heel done - and i had already glued on over two thousand crystals! There are some small gaps, since i used two different sizes- but i think its a great first attempt. I think my next ones will be even better, and ill buy 3 different sizes to better fill in the gaps!

so thats my story - my glass slippers are all set to go for our next visit to wdw. I hope cinderella eats her heart out! I just want to go somewhere magical for dinner wearing these, maybe walk around with them glittering in the lights of main street - and then put them back on the shelf in my closet. Arent they pretty?! I couldnt wait to show you! They sparkle so much, i wanted to take a video, but thought that might be overkill :rotfl:

oh my god amazing!!!!!!!! And awesome because they're do it yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am speechless....and you know that never happens to me:rotfl2: I knew you had talent but I had no idea the depth of it...again speechless. Those are AMAZINGand I :lovestruc them!! Jasmine's in the tub and I'm yelling at her to come and see your shoes.......

I'm pretty sure you could start a business selling those. I would buy them. No idea where I would wear them, but I would find something!

Beautiful job :)

I have a saving money tip, but I don't know if you have it in the US. We have a bank account called "Bank the Rest" in Canada, what it does is rounds up your debit purchases to the nearest dollar or five dollars and puts it in a seperate savings account for you. So if you make a purchase at Walmart for $12.50 it will either put $0.50 or $2.50 into your own account for you. This does not seem like a lot of money but if you make 3-4 purchases a day it sure adds up. This is how I put away my spending money for our next trip.

Hey Jessica! I am currently preparing for my first WDW CP and I have been reading all things Disney to prepare! :surfweb: I stumbled upon you TR and I love it! I'm having so much fun reading and I LOVE the office and of course the shoes! :goodvibes

I am speechless too!  I yelled at my Grandma, who was also in the tub! The conversation went like this:
Me: "Grandma, get out here! Hurry!"
G: "Why? Is something wrong?"
Me: "No, but you HAVE to see these shoes!"
G: "Just wait till I get out!"
Me: "No, you need to come NOW!"
G: (gets out of the tub and comes in the room) "What's so special about a pair of shoes?"
(walks over to my laptop)
G: "OH MY GOD! THOSE ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SHOES I HAVE EVER SEEN!" "Good thing you dragged me out here, we have a new project!"

Sounds like a neat idea! I'll have to look around and see if anyone does that here!

Those are AMAZING Jess!!! I think i'm going to have to make those! Can you pm me on fb with the directions?

Thank you so much, youre a sweetpea! I talked to Kris last night, and told him I had this great dream where me & my disboards girlfriend were all skipping around Main Street in these shoes! Now, Im obsessed with trying to get that picture.... of course. I'll keep you updated on my next pair... Im trying to find an inexpensive pair that fits well to do in pink or gray. <3

Who is better than you today? Compliments AND a swarovski hook up? Sa-weeeeet. (Are you on FB? Ill shoot you a PM if you are & we can chat there) I actually thought about that briefly and registered a name at Etsy. Im no where near selling yet, I want to practice more- funny thing is... once I make them - Im not sure ill be ABLE to sell them! I have a glitter problem ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE your glass slippers...I really like it without the heel done..good choice!! Those came out beautiful!!

Thank You so much! It was just time consuming really, Im considering blinging out the toes and stars of a pair of Chuck Taylors to wear on park days... Thanks for backing me up on the heel too, I want them to look like glass slippers, and wasnt sure if it would be dumb leaving the heel gray.

oh my god amazing!!!!!!!! And awesome because they're do it yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right? pixiedust: I knew you guys would get it! We'll have to start our own YouTube - Pixie Craft Hollow - where we eat glitter for breakkfaaasssttt.

Girlfriend you just let me know what you want them for and shoot me a PM, Im sure we can work something out where you pay for the materials or I can send you the instructions... Its really not too hard, just takes lots of time.

Love the shoes!!! :lovestruc You did an amazing job on them!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you!! Its a first attempt, but still one Im proud of - Now I just have to make sure I can wear them in a magical Disney location...

I have heard of that - and Its a great idea! So far Ive used another ideas (Shannons? IBelieveinMagic? I have to go back and check who first said it...) about keeping a little Mickey Head in my wallet - then when I think I want something, I scope it out and it keeps the $$ in the wallet, and doesnt leave it at mall. The rounding up is smart too though - we have Citizens Bank, so im going to check and see if they offer something like that now as well... Thanks!!!

Thanks love, Im so flattered to hear that! I was a new kid not that long ago, and just sticking to my PTR & TR gave me some amazing friends and people to share stories with... joining the boards is one of the best things I did, and Im now a member of the secret grand poo-bah LimeGreenMickeyHead club - you are too! Glad to have you - and hope you stick around!! :cutie:

Thank you! It was a lot of hard work, but thats really almost all of it. It took a little extra $ than I would have spent on just regular shoes, but I think the end result was totally worth it.... now I just have to try and crank out a few more pairs so I can match my little dinner dresses. Ill type out the steps I took and add links to the mats. purchased online on FB when I get a few free minutes this afternoon- just have to take the dog for a run & marinate some supper first! Thank you so much for the compliments- please thank your Grandma too - and let her get back to the tub! :lmao:

Wow! Those shoes are SMOKIN'!!!

HAHAHA! Smoooookkkiiinnnnn. :yay: Thanks for the virtual high-five of confidence lady, I needed it. Psyched you love them like I do - now I want to glitteratti everything at my house... its going to be a Liberace museum in no time...

Ahahaha, who says anything about baking! We're just gonna eat it from the container ;) party:

Oh trust me, every trip we take to Disney with my mom we were all forced to wear lime green mickey heads! (We were also forced to help "steal" them from Home Depot before we left :rotfl2:) I knew she was on Dis but I had NO IDEA how addicting it was until now!

I'm so excited to get to LIVE at WDW for the next seven months and share my adventures with everyone! :yay:

Did you get the edible glitter??? I have used in before on cakes for my DD and it really just tastes like sugar but really adds alittle bling to the cake.
