A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

Welcome home! Glad you had a nice visit with family!
I'm dreading the road trip to Florida. We've even changed our plans to leave a day early to avoid the kids losing sleep so we don't have a repeat of our last road trip. I wish we were flying!!!!

Thanks! :)

Well that's good that you can leave a day sooner. Hopefully that will make for a better trip for you guys this time. :wizard:

I didn't know you have family in Charlotte! See, I KNEW you had southern roots! And that explains the Mt. Dew obsession!

So did you guys do anything fun while you were in my neck of the woods?

Glad you had a safe trip and a nice Thanksgiving!

My family is all from here originally, but some of them moved down there in the late 80's. They love it down there!! We had a really nice time.

We didn't have much time to explore the area and do too many things. My cousin did take us into downtown (I guess they call it uptown :confused3) Charlotte one night and we walked around and saw the sights and so on. It was fun!

Gee Shelly, you were half way to Florida!!! Hope you had a good time!

Half of my family loves driving to WDW (or anywhere) and DD10 and I are the other half. We are both similarly impatient people. It's so hard for us! But DH does most of the driving so he's fine. Paige likes it. Not sure why. She's so much more laid back! Sadly, it appears that we will be driving in October.

I know, DS10 said we should just keep on driving!! :rotfl:

I don't think any of us like road trips. DH's back started to hurt. DS12 and I are way too impatient. DS10 is more laid back and didn't complain too much, but he'd much rather fly!

Inquiring minds want to know...

Does turkey taste better in the South?????;)

Glad your trip was a wonderful time and you were able to spend it with family.

I put my tree up on Saturday!! Did something I've never done before. I said Self, you don't feel like going all out for Christmas this year- don't buy a real tree.

And so I didn't.:scared1: I've never NOT had a live tree and this year we just went shopping in our own basement. Pulled out one of the artificial trees we use for decorating in another room and Wallah.:lmao:(I know that isn't how you spell it.;););)) Instant tree.

:yay:

As for Black Friday-- didn't buy anything then either. I've spent about $100 since Tuesday of last week and it's been on eating out.

I've been very very good to myself and my checkbook.:lmao:

PS----
Teri- The crying and gnashing of teeth in this town after that beatdown was hysterical. And can I say that BP is Klassy as ever with that nasty comment, not to mention the handshake? We see him a lot in Starbucks here and, well... my mama said if you can't say anything nice, um, well, you know...................

Well yes, I think it might!! ;)

The kids sure enjoyed being able to play outside with no coat on and enjoy the sunny 70 degree day on Thanksgiving!!

Well good for you not procrastinating and getting your Christmas tree and decorations up!! :santa:

Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone!

Glad to see everyone is back here safe and in one piece.

And no, I didn't get pepper sprayed, beat up at H&M, or found dead in a mall fountain (all the things that occurred in the LA area on Black Friday).

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Sea :cool1:

Wow Sea, glad you survived Black Friday in LA!! :lmao:

After our bags were delivered to the rooms and went to the CL lounge. It was somewhere around noon when we went to the lounge. Since our room was on the third floor that's the CL entrance we used.

Up Next: Polynesian fun! :cool1:

What beautiful views from the CL lounge! I would really think hard about staying CL IF I ever go back. I know I would love it! I guess I would just have to crunch the numbers.

The view from your room is really (half) pretty, too! ;) I love that you can see the pool. Hey, at least you didn't get the first room with the all-ugly view! And to have a balcony in the first place is :thumbsup2

DH and I just went and picked out a Christmas tree, so I guess I need to get the rest of house in order so I can start decorating!

That's funny how you said WV goes on forever......that's what everyone here says about Texas when driving out west. :upsidedow

Very nice view from the lounge! I would have been hanging around in there quite a bit. Was the food good in there? I don't suppose you can go too wrong with snacks, but what about the other stuff?

Your balcony view in the room was pretty nice too. I don't think that tree was too bad. I wonder why they don't cut it back though or just plant something smaller there. I think I'd be upset if I had paid Poly prices and gotten one of those rooms right in front of it with no view. they must get complaints about it from those rooms, so I wonder why they don't get rid of it? :confused3 Thank goodness those rooms keys didn't work the first time! :thumbsup2

And I just had to comment on the 70 degree Thanksgiving that you had. That's the norm around here. We rarely have a real winter. It's Nov. 28th and I have only worn long pants once so far since summer. I wear flip flops almost year 'round. Right now, I'm sitting on the patio in shorts, flip flops and a t-shirt and DD is running around bare footed. Our weather here is fabulous from September to May. Now if I could just turn back the weather thermostat from June-August, it would be perfect! Those three months are like living in a lava flow.

Welcome Home from what sounds like a nice Thanksgiving trip. The Poly lounge looks so big and the views from it are beautiful.

Thanks for showing the view! I have to say I've seen that commented on before about the "ugly tree" it looks great in the photos to me! :lmao: I guess I just like trees and I love all the hidden spots within the Poly grounds, as opposed to open views of everything. Its like a secret garden feel. :cloud9:

We did go a long way for Thanksgiving dinner!! About 500 miles to be exact! :faint: You know, if you could cut WV out of that trip it really wouldn't be bad. WV goes on FOREVER!!

 We can tell you don't take a lot of long car trips, if you think West Virginia goes on forever!

Love all the Poly pictures. We stayed there a few times when I was little...that is, when the Poly was NEW :rolleyes1...and I'd love to stay there again sometime. :cloud9:

CL was a nice little treat! I don't know if we'd do it again though. . .

We were very pleased with our Poly room & view. :lovestruc

I bet Texas does go on forever!! :scared1:

The CL food was okay. We sure weren't overly impressed. The afternoon snacks consisted of mostly 'kid stuff' - goldfish, gummies, and cookies. There were a few other things, but not many. It got kind of old after a few days. I think Jodi had much better offerings at the GF!

Yes, they really should cut that tree back some. I would guess they get plenty of complaints about those rooms that are totally blocked by it.

I could deal with 3 months of unbearable heat to get 9 months of pretty much perfect weather! :thumbsup2 Here we have the 4 seasons of -- almost winter, winter, still winter, and the 4th of July!!:rotfl: Sad, but true.

Wow, Club Level looks awesome. Great view! So beautiful. :)

Thanks, we sure enjoyed it! :goodvibes

Thanks Sheila, we had a very nice Thanksgiving trip. :goodvibes

The Poly lounge is very spacious and beautiful! :)

The tree wasn't bad since it was off to the side for us. Those rooms that are looking directly into it wouldn't offer much of a view. But I bet it is easy to keep those rooms cool with all the shade!

So nice! You just made my DH jealous.

 We can tell you don't take a lot of long car trips, if you think West Virginia goes on forever!

Well when the trip is about 8 hours and 4 of those hours are spent in WV it just seems like it is never going to end. :faint: The kids would keep saying -- are we out of WV yet??? :rotfl:

I hope you get back to the Poly sometime!! :goodvibes

Joining in ! (glad I'm not TOO late ;))

Loving all the pics. You have a great family.

I'm really thinking about doing CBR next time, although the Poly looks gorgeous .. CBR is a BIG step up from the All Stars and my boys will LOVE the slides. We spend a LOT of time swimming each day.

My boys would visit DTD every day if they had the choice .. they love the Lego store and eating at T-Rex along with all the other shops and stuff.

Can't wait to read more !!

:welcome: Of course you aren't too late!! We are only half way through, lots more to come! :cool1:

Your boys sound a lot like mine - loving the water slides and DTD and T-Rex! We didn't make it to T-Rex this time, but it's at the top of the list for next time. :thumbsup2

Hope you enjoy the TR!

Poly CL looks like a vacation in itself! I could hunker down in there and spend a week gorging myself with sweets then spend another week at the parks. The boys look so happy with their cookies and soda in the CL! :goodvibes

Okay another Inquiring Minds question about your Southern Thanksgiving feast... did you have cornbread dressing in it's own dish on the side or did you have white bread stuffing that came out of the birds nether region??popcorn::

Just wonderin'...

Now onto your Poly-tastic update...

I will say that the CL in the Poly looks a lot larger than what we had in SL. The Poly definitely has more tables and places to relax. More casual, laid back style too. And the view....:cloud9: So gorgeous!!!! Can't beat that at all! I think I would have just sat in there for hours looking out.

As far as the food--- I agree, I think the CL @ the GF offers more choices. We had breakfast, then midday snacks (veggies, breads, chips, dips- I honestly got full from them) and then tea with scones and such afterwards around 2-ish. I dream of their banana bread with devonshire cream..........:lovestruc I was really surprised at your lack of choices at the Poly.

Your view was a nice view! Very relaxing, love all the trees. I do hate that the Hawaii bldg has a smaller bathroom than some of the other longhouses. I wonder if they'll ever fix that? I don't know if they even would be able to, other than to build a whole new CL longhouse.

Great update once again!!

The Poly is a vacation within itself!! :cloud9: I remember sitting by the pool one afternoon with our snacks and saying to DH -- This is the life (hence the title of the TR), I could seriously live here!!!! :goodvibes:lovestruc

Well that's a good question. And the answer - IDK!! :confused3:rotfl:

I don't eat cornbread or stuffing and there was so much food there that I am pretty sure that some of it never made it to our end of the table! :faint:

Yes, I would agree - the Poly has a nicer lounge, but the GF has better/more food offerings in their lounge! :upsidedow Guess you never really can have it all.

The smaller bathroom with only one sink really wasn't too bad. But we were only there for 4 nights, I might feel differently had we spent the entire 9 nights there!

Great update! I don't think your view was bad at all....even with the tree. :thumbsup2 Am I remembering correctly that you said you guys might make a trip back to WDW next May? There's a new special offer up on the Disney World site today which includes all of May. Here's the link: http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....romotionCode=fy12q2q3room&market=fy12q2q3room

Thanks Lisa! :goodvibes I saw that they had a spring special out!! Finally! :cool1: I'm not sure we are going, but I might book something anyway just to have it in-case we can go! :thumbsup2 What are your dates again?
