I just wanted to share some pictures of our dog Hopkins from a trip we all took in 2006 to the Walt Disney World Resort. We stayed in a rental house that we found on the internet that allowed small pets. It was a four bedroom house with a pool and very well maintained and decorated and in a beautiful resort community.
Hopkins just loves going places and being with people. We flew him in the cabin with us on Airtran Airways. It would have been cheaper to get him a seat than paying the fee for pets. I told the agent I would rather have him on the seat in the carrier than under the seat in front of me. It would have just been us in the row, but I guess rules are rules. Just doesn't seem that it would have bothered anyone. He was OK in the carrier, but got a bit excited when we first sat down. After take-off, he settled down. Once in Orlando he rode his first monorail.
We went to Downtown Disney to get take out at Earl of Sandwich and we ate it on a bench outside of DTD. Then, off to the house for him to explore. He was never left alone in the house, even though he was allowed by the owners. We would board him in the kennels at each park and visited him every three hours for walks, food and company. He was well taken care of in the kennels, nice and clean and modern. Most of the time when we would get him from the cage, he was sleeping. Outside of the Animal Kingdom, he saw his first characters. Somehow they all found us and we were the first in-line. He saw Jane from Tarzan, Turk and Timon.
A few months ago, Hopkins fell ill and I local vet wanted to put him down. Well, we went to the University of Pennsylvania Ryan Vet Hospital where they wanted to operate laproscopically to take out his gallbladder. He is a 14 year old dog and to open him up was risky. He was the 2nd in the nation to get the procedure. Now, he is doing great. Among other memories, it was this trip to Disney World and his experiences there that we remembered. It was such a wonderful trip that we want to return and do it again!
Check out the pictures on Kodak. You have to sign in to get them. Please do. We are so proud of our Hopkins and want to share his adventure with you. Hubby and I have been married for 21 years and have no children, so he is our baby.
