A first time caller, long-time listener to the DIS Board, but I'm resolved to dive into the pool head-first...and hope not to get a concussion.
Rather than backtrack from some of our previous trips, I'm moving forward with our two mini-trips in the next month and change. Now, ideally we'd stay longer than three days at a clip but I just got a new job as a print jockey for a marketing company. The good news for making a trip like this is I have my weekends free. The bad news is I have my weekends free. Because, well, it's Disney World. On the weekend.
THE CAST
MannAboutTheWorld (35): I didn't really give going to Disney much of a thought for about 15 years of my life between the ages of 18-32. However, the DF and I hatched a plan to go for my birthday two years ago and it was in the planning stages of that where I had the bug bite and bite hard. I should point out that growing up in South Florida, WDW was a semi-frequent vacation spot as a kid, which is why I thought it was out of my system. But it never really died so much as lay dormant. It's back now, and in a big way.
DF (34): My fiancee. Shown here doing something with something else (note to self: change this copy once I actually look for a picture to upload). This adorable butterfly is a bigger WDW planner than I am, whereas I tend to be the one who prefers to fly by the seat of my pants and call audibles. This is our fourth full-on trip at this point and fifth visit overall in just over two years with Trip #6 forthcoming in April/May. But since we go in such small doses it hasn't killed it for us.
THE GAME PLAN
It's a Saturday-Monday trip, with us leaving first thing Saturday morning and scheduled back Monday afternoon, just in time for me to spend 8 hours proofing copy and than fall into a coma.
Tentative schedule is MK Saturday, to be interrupted by dinner at 'Ohana at 8:40, to return to MK until closing. Sunday we do animal kingdom, Sunday night we do Boardwalk, Monday we do DTD, then we eat pretzels and go home. And while it would be funny if I just reposted this paragraph for post #2 and called it a trip report, no one gets off that easy.
THE FORMAT
With all due respect to simply reporting on everything and the people who do so, it’s been done. A lot. By better storytellers than me. So in the face of that, somwhere on the trip I had an idea. I would do a trip report using the photos we took, but do it in Haiku form. Which saves both you and me from having to overrun my stories.
This is the placeholder since in about 20 minutes I have to leave the house to go to work in spite of the fact that we just left Kissimmee this afternoon. So much much more including cast photos later.
