A Disney Geek-tastic Trip to the World Updated 3/27!

All caught up. Thanks for the tip that it's ok to leave Enchanted Tales once the story is over and you don't have to wait for all the photos. That would annoy me too.

I have heard that Fastpass Plus is having some unintended negative consequences on the Haunted Mansion regular queue - lengthening it quite a bit. Will have to see first hand in October. Awesome ride pictures, by the way!!

My absolute apologies in getting the wedding photos up. My life has been a swirl of thank-you notes, gift unwrapping and organizing of our house since returning from our honeymoon. These are just a handful of preview photos from the wedding photographers, but I hope you think they were worth the wait!

Let’s start at the beginning… of the wedding day, of course! I had all my girls gather in my suite for a fun day of champagne, yummy treats and beautification! I made each one a hoodie with a customized Minnie head on the back.

And since the girls were in charge of holding my dress up as we walked, the boys were in charge of the bouquets.

The extra face was a cut-out of our friend Brian who was supposed to be a groomsman, but had a mandatory event for work that weekend and couldn’t leave Houston. So his lovely wife bought the cutouts so he could still be a part of everything!

I had custom Minnie ears made for all of us. I had a bridal bow with a veil and my girls all had bows that matched their bridesmaids dresses.

The ceremony took place on the terrace of the Newseum, overlooking the Capitol.

We have the greatest friends! You might remember a few from previous TRs. Kristin and Dan went with us in October 2010; Kelley, Mike and their twins in Oct. 2011; and Meghan and Laura in May 2013.

Toward the end of the night, Franklin and I snuck away with the photographers to take some night time photos. Here we are in the elevator.

And just outside the museum.

And out on Pennsylvania Avenue.

That’s it for the photos we have now. Like I said, there are lots of Disney details from the wedding that I am dying to share with you, but I want to wait until I have photos to show you. So you’ll just have to stay tuned! Until then, on with the Disneymoon TR!

Welcome back friends. My apologies for being gone for so long! But now that we're post-wedding, post-honeymoon, life is slowly returning to normal. And it's time to continue this very TR. When we last left off, we'd been spending the morning at Magic Kingdom... visiting Belle in her library and our favorite ghosts in their mansion.

After our lovely visit with the 99 happy haunts, I did a little pin trading. Yes, I still trade, but I keep my lanyard in my backpack most of the time. Wearing it with all those pins on it is kinda uncomfortable. Plus, they’d be covering up my shirts!

Where to next?

Splash? Not in January, it’s dry.

We were headed for the wildest ride in the willllderness.

It’s my favorite, after all.

After the wild train ride, we thought a sail might be in order.

And why take one boat ride, when you could take two?

Meet George, our Jungle Cruise skipper.

He was as cheesy and as funny as you could ever want in a cruise director.

Back to the land of fantasy to use the FPs.

Have I mentioned how sad Franklin and I were that PP was closed during our Disneymoon? It really is a ride Franklin loves to photograph and it challenges him unlike any other.

Next, it was time to add to our boat-filled morning, this time with an around-the-world cruise!

How adorable is the man who’s seeing us all off?

As we made our way through Fantasyland, we stopped for a progress check on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Yep, that was almost 10 months ago. Still not done. I’m hoping it will open before my May trip, but I’m not betting the house on it.

We had time for one more ride before our lunch ADR, so we stopped at Hundred Acre Wood.

It was time for lunch, we took the route through Tomorrowland to the front of the park. We ran into an old friend, Push!

Franklin may have finally spotted Push’s, um, “good friend.”

We came upon a couple who had some seriously Disneyfied wheels, I was very impressed.

I know I’ve said this before on other TRs, but for those of you who might be new, I can’t recommend The Plaza enough. It’s such a delightfully nice break on an MK day. Air conditioning, good food and killer ice cream. Plus the prices aren’t much more than the CS locations in the park. Okay, Plaza commercial over, bring on the grub!

Franklin and I split the cheesesteak.

And followed that up with a hot fudge sundae.

With a yummy lunch in our bellies, we were ready for a fun afternoon at MK. Lots of characters coming up, so stay tuned!

We were so bummed about PPF being closed too!! Especially this year of all years when Paxton was so obsessed with all things Peter Pan. That is one ride that DH has not been able to master when it comes to photographing, but Franklin certainly got some wonderful photos! Love the ones in Small World too. Beautiful colors!

We ran into Push this year too, and I was REALLY surprised by how close his "friend" got to the crowd of people around Push. He was right next to me! Certainly if I wouldn't have known the behind the scenes workings before, I would have after this trip.

Coming down from wedding/honeymoon high is really tough and takes a while to get back to reality!

And a great series of classic rides around MK too! I've STILL yet to eat at the Plaza. Some day!
DH and I spotted Push's friend at a parade one time. Still cool!

Welcome back friends! We last left off with a delicious lunch at The Plaza. We came out to Main Street and found ourselves in the middle of the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! parade.

We didn’t stay put for long, it was time to go meet the mouse!

We came back out to a quiet Town Square.

Hey! Is that Donald and Daisy?

We hopped in a very short line for Marie. Paws up, everyone!

We headed in for some princess time. I pulled a page from Pinterest and had a set of Mickey ears embroidered with our wedding date on them. The princesses loved them!

P.S. That Jasmine was totally at our proposal breakfast.

With quite the list of characters checked off, it was time to ride. We headed for our old standby, the PeopleMover!

In case you forgot, no dancing!

We had so much fun, we went for another spin.

We were stopped for a bit in this tunnel, and we were the only people on the ride. It was a little creepy.

Time to go to Infinity and Beyond.

And even while taking all those fabulous photos, Franklin still managed to beat me. Sigh.

We came out to what might have been the most sparsely attended Disney dance party EVER. God, I love going in late January/early February.

Next, we moseyed back to New Fantasyland and took a voyage under the sea with our favorite mermaid.

Yes, yes, we all wish that Disney would have been a little more innovative with the ride. But I still love the music and the “going underwater” sequence is pretty cool.

All that voyaging made us a little hungry, so we stopped for a snack. I went to Maurice’s Amazing Popping Machine and got some deliciously buttery popcorn…

… and met Franklin at Gaston’s Tavern, where he had gotten a couple of LeFou’s Brews.

While we were back in the New Fantasyland area, we hung a right into Storybook Circus.

Time for Franklin to ride his favorite flying elephant.

That fun flight is where we’ll leave off for now, but we have a long-awaited dinner and a new spot to watch fireworks coming right up.

The last week of January and the first week of February seem to be the last truly uncrowded weeks left at the parks. It was amazing.

Welcome back friends, we last left off with an afternoon filled with Magic Kingdom characters and fun. And the sun had just begun to set on the park.

It was time for a dinner Franklin and I had very much been looking forward to… Be Our Guest!

We requested a seat in the West Wing and were told it might cause us to wait longer for a table. We were willing to risk it. And after about a 20-minute wait, we were escorted in!

The West Wing was perfect and incredibly themed.

All the soft goods in the room were torn from one of the Beast’s rampages.

And every 15 minutes or so, the portrait over the fireplace turns from this:

We couldn’t get over how many people would rush up to the front of the room to take a flash picture of the enchanted rose and wonder why they couldn’t see the rose in their photo.

Franklin started with the mussels (and LOVED them).

I ordered the French onion soup and it was delicious!

For the main course, Franklin had the shrimp and scallops, while I had the steak and frites.

Both dishes were fabulous, but the butter for my steak really put mine over the top.

Soon, the adorable dessert cart came rolling by and who could possibly say no?

Franklin chose the strawberry cupcake.

And I tried the lemon one.

It was Franklin’s birthday week, so he got a dollop of the Grey Stuff (so freaking yummy!)

Just before we finished our meal, the master came in to greet his castle’s guests.

We paid the bill and took a quick spin around the restaurant to soak in all the details.

I simply adore the snowy scenes outside the castle’s grand windows.

We also popped in for a quick audience with the Beast before we departed.

After dinner, I went to go grab a spot on Main Street for Wishes because Franklin wanted to stay behind in New Fantasyland and shoot them from Beast’s Castle. He apparently wandered around for a bit, taking gorgeous night shots of the park.

And without further ado, I present Wishes -- Be Our Guest style.

We met up in the hub and lingered for a bit to let the crowds clear.

One last photo with my girl, Minnie, and it was time to call it a night.

I know most people like to watch Wishes from Main Street for that perfectly centered view of the show, but what off-beat places have you enjoyed watching the fireworks from (either inside or outside the park will do)? Plenty more fun coming up, so stay tuned!
