A Disney-addicted mom braves the August (2010) heat! *11/28 Update!*

nice pictures!!!!

Glad the food was good! We ate there for dinner 4 or 5 years ago and it was the worst WDW restaurant I had ever been to. It was so horrible that we left and went back to WL and ate at WCC lol.

Thank you for the picture love.
I think the dinner must be totally different because I've heard it's awful. The lunch has always been fine. I don't love buffets in general, especially with young kids, but I've always found stuff that I like. :confused3

Nathaniel finally figured out how to put on his clothes!

On the way out of BC, Tom and the older kids ran into a photopass guy. Who took a bunch of pics. As they were finishing Zachary and I caught up and he took more pics. Can't wait to see them!!!

We stopped to get another Kim Possible mission. This time we requested one in Japan since we were eating at Teppan Edo. Tom and I ate at Tokyo Dining back in April and had a great sushi lunch. This was our first venture to the other side. We checked in and one of the hostesses brought the kids each an origami swan, which they liked. I also brought new silly bandz as a present for each child. I was hoping it would distract them! Jessica got princesses, Nathaniel got NY Yankees, and Zachary got dinosaurs. Zachary likes the idea of silly bandz but doesn't really get them (not shocking, although he did recognize that he got dinosaurs).

I was a little worried about our table. You probably all know that you sit with "strangers" to fill the table. There was an older couple and then a mom with her teenage daughter. And then our motley crew! Since Zachary still counts as an infant, he didn't even have his own spot. They stuck his highchair at the corner of the table. It was a problem because we ordered Zachary his own meal (he's often the best eater of the bunch) and there wasn't really space for it. I hope this doesn't sounds like a major complaint because it wasn't a big deal. Just something to be aware of!!!

The kids did fine. They were less interested in the cooking than I expected. Jessica and Nathaniel each had shrimp, Zachary had chicken, and Tom and I each got filet mignon. We also shared a bottle of sake (I love, love, love sake). The woman with her daughter was asking about sake so Tom requested an extra glass so she could try some. She was very grateful and quite nice. The kids behaved pretty well so I don't think we offended any of our table mates. Jessica finished her shrimp before my meat was cooked and asked for more! :scared1: I gave her some of Zachary's chicken and my steak. I liked Teppan Edo. Sadly they don't take TIW so it ended up being one of our more expensive meals. Still, I felt we got value for the $$$ we spent.

Nathaniel and I ran to the KP station to pick up our Kim-municator. We then returned to Japan to save the world (Tom and the little guys waited for us in Japan). It was actually a fun mission with lots of cool things happening.

We headed back to BCV. The kids wanted a photo session with Ariel:

I love the Ariel Pics!! I didn't even know that was there!!! I love Teppan Edo as well! I was hoping that would be one of our Free Dining meals in Oct but my friend has eaten there several times in the past few years (I have as well) and had requested somewhere new that wasnt: Japan, Canada, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Germany, or Norway..hm..haha. She is a somewhat picky eater so I might actually send her the France menu and see if she wants to change to Teppan Edo. I just think overall its great food and a fun place for young kids or a group of friends!

Glad to hear your meal was great!

Holy updates, Batman! Really catching up, aren't you!

Before I forget, I LOVE that little einsteins shirt! I need to search ebay or something and see if I can find a little einsteins shirt, DS would go crazy for it.

So cute that Zachary got so wet. Too bad he was freezing in the restaurant though!

Lunch looks like fun. Doesn't seem like Zachary was afraid this time, at least. They do seem kind of preoccupied. That must be some good food! I'm glad you got to see June, even if you were relocated. It's always so frustrating when a character skips your table.

That is a lot of rain! That picture of you infront of the hat with the kids is so cute!

:lmao: Nathaniel has all the clothes on anyway, just not in the right places. Better than forgetting something! :rotfl2:

You know, when we went when DS was 2, he was not interested in Teppan Edo either. I think it is SO entertaining when they make the food!

Did Jessica like Kim Possible? Just wondering since she's closest to DS's age, and I really think he would like it, even though he's little. He's totally into schoolwork and "stopping bad guys", and, you know, dora and diego type "follow the instructions" things, so I want to try it, at least!

That Ariel is awesome. I had no idea it was there!

Fireworks on the balcony, PJ's and bed...:lovestruc:lovestruc Sounds like the perfect end to the day!

Wow, what a full day! I'm glad the kids finally got to see June! :goodvibes

These pics are great and I especially love the ones in the rain. Too bad Zachary had to shiver through lunch but puddles are just too good to pass up! :thumbsup2

We are really looking forward to Kim Possible so I'm glad to read that you enjoyed it. And fireworks from the balcony in your pjs just sounds heavenly. :lovestruc

Live trip report AND pictures while you are still on vacation! I can't keep up with your updates and I'm here at home.

Amanda, :worship::worship::worship:

Great report and awesome descriptions! We can really feel what you are experiencing!

The pictures of Zachary in the puddle and the strollers in front of the hat are precious! Too bad you had to deal with all the rain to get them.

The Ariel is right in front of the entrance to BCV. If you stay at BC, you might miss it.

The Einsteins shirt is a hand-me-down from Jessica. We bought it on a previous trip to Hollywood Studios.

If JoJo had skipped the table, I would have let it go. Not June!!! :thumbsup2

Tom says I look like a teenager in my rain poncho!

Jessica liked KP but Nathaniel got really into it. I think it's an age and gender thing.

The rain ended up being a blessing (wait til you hear about our MK day!). Thank you for the compliment!

Love all of the updates and love all of the pictures! It looks like things are going really well (even with the rain.) We've never eaten at Hollywood and Vine and now my kids are old enough we probably never will unless they change out the characters someday. We loved our meal at Teppan Edo. It's not much different than any Japanese steak house, but that doesn't mean it's not yummy:) I've done 3 or 4 KP missions and Japan was my favorite. Can't wait for more:goodvibes

do you need to change your title to a Dis-addicted mom braves the August RAINs???

Do you by any chance have any pictures of Ariel without the kids? If so, that might make a nice picture for the BCV front-page. I am woe-fully short on pics of the villas.

I'll PM you when you get home.

Everyone looks so cute in their rain attire!! Kudos for soldiering through it!!
Mmm, we love hibachi but have never tried Teppan Edo. Glad you guys had a great meal!!

My DD is the same as Jessica--does not fair well in heat so we will need to definitely take advantage of the AC places and breaks/swimming. :goodvibes

Thank you SueM in MN for the great information on the scooter/GAC. I am glad to have this valuable information!! She has traveled in the past to Disney many times, but she parks and walks the queues. Good to know she can drive right through if needed. :goodvibes

Cute pics! DD loves splashing in puddles too. We got caught in a thunderstorm at the zoo and she had ball planning in it. :upsidedow

The Ariel pictures are adorable! We will have to try Teppan Edo sometime. Another great day!!

Hey all!
I'll comment on everyone's posts later. We're home! :sad1: We didn't get home until after midnight so we're pretty exhausted. More updating later! Must. Eat. Breakfast. Must. Drink. Coffee.

Glad you made it home safely but I can't believe it went by so quickly! :sad2:

glad you made it home! I think I looked at your dates on Friday and thought aww the trip is almost over..time flies I guess but this time it seemed to go super fast :(

I'm glad to hear that you're home safe! Sorry your trip is over! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Thanks! I agree that Teppan Edo isn't any better than the typical hibachi place but it was still good.

We did have a lot of rain but it didn't cause a problem at all. I don't have an Ariel pic without the kids. And I didn't really take any pics of our room. Sorry!

The rain wasn't a big deal at all! It kept the temperature down which was a huge blessing!!!

It always goes fast. But it was really fun!!!

Thank you.

I forgot to mention something in my Monday update. So Sunday we had the problem with Mousekeeping arriving at naptime. Monday Mousekeeping had come and gone while we were out. So no issues there...

I'm too tired to do a proper update and I have lots of unpacking so let me update later! ;)

Amanda

Tuesday was MK day. One of the things that I realized on this trip is just how much I love the Magic Kingdom! It has a much higher concentration of rides and attractions which makes it fun for everyone. I love Main Street. I love the whole feel of the place. It just makes me happy. (Not that I don't love the other parks; I just really love MK!)

We ate breakfast in our room and headed off to the bus stop. We were running a little later than I'd hoped (theme of the week!) but not too bad. EMH were starting at 8am and we left the room a bit after 7am (maybe like 7:15?). We walked over to the bus stop and saw a large crowd of people. Not good. With 2 strollers and 3 children the Disney buses can be quite stressful. Especially when Zachary has a tendency to run off as soon as he's released! :rotfl: As we were coming up to the bus stop, 2 MK buses arrived. Both were going to be very, very crowded. And we didn't really have time to get organized with our gear. :scared1:

We were the last people on the bus and it was packed. The kids basically ended up sitting on the floor. I was on the yellow "don't stand in front of" line. It was a stressful bus ride to MK. We did meet a very nice family from Albany who were standing near us (and helped us get off the bus!). Their kids were 12, 14, and 16 with the same gender distribution as ours. It was their first trip to Disney and they had driven down (with a several day stop in Williamsburg). We arrived at MK intact!

We'd missed rope drop by about 15 minutes. I was a little disappointed that we hadn't made a single rope drop all week but it wasn't a big deal at all. We entered the park and headed off to Dumbo. Jessica loves this ride and I figured Zachary would love it too. Last trip Nathaniel refused to ride Dumbo ("it's a baby ride") but no comments from him this time. I have to say that Nathaniel must be at that perfect age for Disney. We had very little attitude from him the whole trip. Back in December he was the most difficult of the kids! I took some pics of the construction while riding Dumbo.... (I'll post them later - having technical difficulties).

After Dumbo we headed over to one of my favorites - Space Mountain. We probably visited Disney twice when I was a child and both were in the mid-late '70s. Space Mountain was the 1st roller coaster I ever rode so I have great memories. I was pregnant during my 1st adult trip to Disney. The 2nd trip none of the kids was tall enough. I finally got to re-ride Space Mountain in December. We had taken the older 2 kids to MVMCP and they both fell asleep after the parade. Tom and I took turns riding Space Mountain until the fireworks came on. The big question mark was whether or not Nathaniel (and Jessica) would be tall enough to ride. Nathaniel measured 43" at his physical in May. Jessica was 42.5". I wasn't sure Jessica was ready for Space Mountain anyway but I thought Nathaniel would love it. He's obsessed with all things Space.

Were the kids tall enough to ride????
