Day 8: Saturday, June 27 *continued*
We left off leaving the room to catch a bus to the MK
I was getting nervous because the dark clouds were getting closer. As we were getting on the bus around 5:15, it started raining. I was staring out the window, praying that the rain would go away. Mom, Dad, Sis, and B/F were laughing at me because I guess I looked pretty mad. LOL.
But
as we got to the MK, the rain began to stop! YAY! We got off the bus, waved Hi to the Castle, and walked up the ramp to the Resort Monorail. When we got off at the Poly, I went to the gift shop on that floor to buy B/Fs sister a Tinkerbell frame I had seen there the last time we were at the Poly. Then, we headed over to the bar by Ohana to get some drinks. We found two tables by the window and as soon as we sat down, a waitress came over to take our orders. B/F and I already knew what we were getting: Lapu Lapus!:
We set them down on the table and I took a pic on my cell to send to
xoktenox. I told her she HAD to try one because it was SO GOOD. Our drinks also came with spoons to scoop out the leftover pineapple after the drink was all gone. The pineapple was so good too!
After we were done with our drinks, it was time to head down to Luau Cove and check-in. We stopped at the beach along the way:
B/F and Sis were too busy messing around in the sand to pose with me:
You can see the Castle better in this up-close pic:
After we checked-in, we got in line to take our family pic:
Sorry, I had to take this pic on my cell phone of this pic:
When we were done with that, we headed over to the bar stand outside the entrance to where we sit down and then got in line to go in:
Around 7:15, we got seated. We had a great table in the back, which was great when we had to get up and use the restroom! Our waiter soon came over and took our drink orders. Mom, Dad, B/F and I all got beer and Sis got iced tea. After he brought out our drinks, he brought us coconut bread and salad, which has a mango poppyseed dressing. One of our two favorite things to eat at the Luau! Finally, it was 8 oclock and the show was starting!
Weve been to the Luau so many times that I know all the words to all the songs. HAHA. They always start the show with my favorite song, Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride, which is also from the movie Lilo & Stitch! And then
..thats when the Luau started getting loopy!
Every time our waiter would come around to our area, he would bring each of us another glass of beer, which was free because the drinks are included with the price of the tickets for the show, so we werent complaining. LOL. Soon it was time for the main course, which is always great with veggies, pineapple, BBQ pork ribs, roasted chicken, and rice. I cant tell you how many refills we got on the ribs and rice! It was SO good, as usual.
I also have to add that the Luau was probably both of my sets of grandparents favorite thing about our 2001 Christmas trip. They still talk about everything they remember when we show them pics when we come home from trips. With that being said, we HAD to take a pic of the Luau guys for the grandmas, HAHA:
Sis and Mom enjoying the view, LOL:
While we were eating and enjoying the show, Dads phone started ringing and he had to leave the Luau area and answer it. It was the manager of one of our stores letting Dad know that there were bad storms going on back home and our town lost power, which was bad for the store. Dad and the manager figured out what to do and then Dad made his way back to the table just in time for dessert
VOLCANOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Yes. I had been waiting for my volcano since 2007, when our Luau was cancelled due to rain/storm!
When we were done eating our dessert, we snuck out of the show when they started the last song. We wanted to make it to the beach in time to watch Wishes, which was another thing I had read about on the DIS and HAD to try it. We sat on the chairs which were right behind me in that pic of me and the palm tree before we checked-in to the Luau! We started laughing about sneaking out of the Luau because we were quite loopy by this point. We made Sis promise us that she would be our designated walker and help us get to the monorail and to the bus. LOL.
We only had to wait 5 minutes for Wishes to start, so it was perfect t timing! I took a pic of the show on my cell phone and sent it to
xoktenox, who then sent me a pic of her drink at Applebees, which was where she was. She said that her and Chris both loved the pic, so Im glad I made their night.
Heres some pics. Sorry they are blurry, it was hard to take pics and enjoy the show at the same time, HAHA:
Ahh..it was gorgeous. Such a great view from that beach! After the finale, we all started clapping, including everyone that was around us. It was truly a great, memorable WDW moment.
We headed to the monorail and rode it over to the MK. Then, we headed to our bus stop and there was a bus sitting there waiting for us! We got on and waited a few more minutes for others to get on before leaving.
As we rode back to OKW, I replayed the night in my head. We finally made it back to the Luau, which is something very close to us. We watched Wishes from a brand new place, which was exciting to do after seeing Wishes about a thousand times over. And I said to myself, Ill never grow old of this place.
~Up next: Epcot Day and we make it to an Annual Passholder Preview!
