In the guidebooks, it says that Goofy's barnstormer has a 35 inch height requirement and then it says age 3 minimum. How would they know they weren't 3 if they are over the 35 inches? My DS is 19 months old and 36 inches. He will turn 2 while we were there and proabbly be taller so how would they know how old he is?

My other DS was 2 1/2 our first vacation to Niagara falls and he loved the roler coaster in kiddieland there. My younger DS would probably love it too.

Hi, My ds was just shy of two on our last trip and just at 35" and he was able to ride. I really don't think he even looks like he's three yet either and no one said anything to us about that. I don't think you will have a problem.

hth!

We just got back & my DS could not ride. The only requirement the CMs were looking at is height.

My DS is 36 inches tall (according to our measurments & his doctor). However when he stood at the height bar he was WELL below the "35 inches" bar. It looked to be closer to 39 or even 40 inches!

There is no way that was an acurate 35 inches. My DS is 36 inches without shoes on. He was wearing his sneakers so he was over 36 inches tall, yet he was still 3-4 inches to short!

I understand it is for safety so I am not upset. But I just wish when they said 35 inches they meant 35 inches. Not "Disney's idea of 35 inches" which is actually closer to 40 inches! Just be honest with parents & they will understand!

I have heard people have the same issues with the "40 inch" marks. Most say their 40 & 41 inch tall children are still to short to meet Disney's "40 inch" mark.

My DD's love this ride! My 2nd DD was just 36 inches last year and was so happy she made the height requirement.

They will not check his age - only height! :cool1:

Thank you for all the replies! I think he will love it.

Of course there is no way for them to know age, but they probably have that requirement for some sort of safety reason. Because of that, I've always skipped anything DS does not meet the age requirement for even if he is tall enough.

OK, I was curious because I really don't think my ds looks anything close to three yet (despite his height). I checked Disney's official website and it gives a height requirment of 35" but doesn't say anything about an age requirement. I wonder why if there was an age requirement, it doesn't say so? I wasn't with DH when the CM was checking DS's height so I didn't notice a sign saying anything about age and the cm certainly didn't prevent us from taking our almost 2-year old on the ride either. Also, as I mentioned in another post, the height requirement for Stitch's Great Escape (an attraction, not a ride) was raised at the beginning of the year from 35" to 38" because they wanted to exclude younger kids who would be scared by it, so if it was a safety concern on the Barnstormer, I think they would just increase the height requirement. Like the pp said, there is really no way for them to tell kids' age anyway. I am just wondering if some of these unofficial Disney guide books and web pages may have incorrect information about this, or maybe at one time there was an official Disney policy which has been changed?

Here's a link to Disney's official page about : Goofy's Barnstormer if anyone is curious.

It does say so on the official page, in the sidebar on the right side of the screen:

"The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm is designed for adults and children to be able to ride together. Children must be at least three years old to ride."

We took our DD2 to WDW in January for her first visit. She was 2 and a half and just 35 inches in her stocking feet. We went on Barnstormer several times. No CM asked her age, but the first time we went on the CM did use the measuring stick to make sure she was tall enough. I knew she was, but was pleased to see that they were checking. Your DS should be fine. I hope he enjoys it as much as my munchkin did.

OK, I stand corrected. :) It's under tips and fun facts, which doesn't always say the same thing. I had to refresh my screen a couple of times to see it. Probably why I didn't see it the first time.

Just judging from my experience and from the pp's comments, it doesn't seem like the cm's really enforce the rule though. If we had been informed of it we wouldn't have taken ds on it, however he did do just fine and enjoyed the ride.

We were just there in April with DS who's 3 and a hair above 36". For the first time I recall there was a CM checking height. He barely made it, even thoufh he'd ridden it in November with no one checking height. That was a early evwening, maybe Fri. The rest of the time Sat and Sun early day no one was checking height. Go figure. Good luck!
