Well, it's the "day after" --
What a wonderful day yesterday was!
Day 5 - Wednesday 12/15
The day began with a few of us (bride excluded) heading over to the Magc Kingdom for a few hours. My wife just wanted to sit on Main Street -- and maybe remember the first time we brought our daughter to WDW in 1991, at the age of 4. A few tears later --- breakfast at the Bakery!
She headed back to BLT for hair and make-up at about 10, my DS and I hit a few rides. Crowds at that time were low, so we hit the E tickets and headed back at about 12.
The hair and make-up people came to BLT and the girls were busy from 11 - 3. Flowers arrived at about 2:30, and the photographers arrived at 3 for pix of the dress, bride, etc.
At 3:30 the limo showed up and took us over to the Grand Floridian. They had to keep us in the limo for a few minutes since the groom was taking pictures in the lobby -- can't let them see each other.
Pictures in the Grand Floridian were fabulous -- hundreds of them. With the gingerbread house and the tree in many pictures, I can't wait to see them !!!
We were pretty much on schedule and headed over to the Wedding Pavillion about 4:50PM. We were directed to the Bride's room and awaited instruction. About 5:10PM -- our call -- time to go ! ! ! ! ! Nerves were not bad --- since my daughter and I are last to go, we didn't see any of the others enter or hear the music. At the Wedding Pavillion, each person who enters is positioned behind the rear doors, and they are opened only for that person to go -- then they are closed so the next person can get ready. It is very dramatic for the attendees, since they only see one person at a time.
Well, the music started, and I think we held each other a little tighter -- took a deep breath -- the doors opened and here we go -------- With the castle perfectly positioned in the window we made it down the aisle --- I gave her a kiss and gave her to her new husband -- a fine gentlemen, indeed.
The rest of the ceremony is somewhat of a blur -- no clamities -- the best man remembered the rings.. After a few hundred more pictures, we headed oer to the Napa Room at the Contemporary for the reception.
For those of you who have eaten at the California Grill, you know how good the food is -- it was spectacular. Great view of the Castle, with the castle lights on, since it was now afout 6:45pm. My daughter had planned this day and time around the WISHES fireworks show -- a special event for her for some time. She chose Wednesday because they don't usually have a
MVMCP on Wednesday -- so its regular WISHES, not Holiday WISHES. At 8:00 we all headed out to the roof to view WISHES. It was somewhat surreal and very emotional for my DD -- and probably the rest of us too!
The highlight of the evening had to be when Mickey and Minnie arrived -- in their holiday attire -- to great everyone, take pictures, and help the bride and groom cut the cake. I do not have any pictures of that event yet, but there has to be a thousand of them somewhere, what with all the flases I saw. I will eventually post them -- It was truly magical.
At about 11:15, the party ended, and we headed back to BLT -- the bride and groom heading to the Grand Floridian.
It seemed to be over so quickly, after a year of planning. I think it went very well, the venues were spectacular - the weather cold, but no rain.
Today -- return the tux's, some people are heading home. We are going to the MVMCP tonight, about 20 of us.
I have a couple of pix that I will put in a separate post.
Thank you to everyone for your best wishes and kind thoughts. I thought it would be neat to share our special day with all of the Dis'ers -- who enjoy Disney as much as our family.
