I happened upon this company that gives you an alternative to medic alert braclets. I like the idea that they aren't the metal, chain type jewelry (which would annoy my autistic DS5 and I am thinking about getting one for my DS2 1/2 (just in case he wanders and to be like big brother). Has anyone ever gotten these? Thoughts pro or con?

Thanks

We've purchased the Awareabouts:
http://www.awareabouts.com/

For DS it works out best, as he is verbal and can just point at the shoe if he's nervous.

I couldn't get the page to load so I'm not sure which item you are talking about. My DS won't wear anything (bracelets, necklaces, etc..) so this is the next best choice. We have also used the clothing tags:

But my DS got bothered by the tags (any tag of any kind!) so we stopped using them.

I like medic alert. They keep all medical info and contact numbers on file. The emblems have a toll free number on them for emergency personel to call and get the info. They now have sports bands made out of nylon. I have had one for years and it gives me security if I ever have an emergency. On the other hand the child ids look good for kids who may wander but don't have any real medical problems.

I agree. I ride the ambulance and I KNOW what the medic alert tags look like and I am always on the look out in an unknown situation. If I was to see that I might not take a closer look at it and just think it was a bracelet.
