I will be at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villa next week and this is the first time I am participating in the Dining Plan. I am going solo.

However, on two separate nights, I am meeting some of my friends that happen to be down at WDW.

If I take anyone to dinner with me, will I be able to pay for their meal on the DDP? If it's merely a matter of points, does it matter whether I apply some of my points for the other person's meal or not?

If this is allowable, I will keep the plan. If it is not going to be allowable, I will cancel the plan and go for the DDE and use the discount for the meals instead.

Hope someone who's been in the same boat can steer me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Sorry, but that is not allowed. Here is the relevant portion of the Dining Plan rules:

With regard to the DDE, you must be a FL resident or an AP holder to purchase that membership. And remember you won't enjoy any actual savings until you've spent $325 if you are an AP holder.

That's what I thought I remembered reading. I called member services the other day and the person helping me was adamant that I could use it for friends.

I finally found the brochure as well and read what you had quoted. I just called MS back and cancelled my DDP for next week. Thanks for the information!

It is unfortunate that some of the Disney folks on the telephone don't know as much as many of us do here. :(
