I'm new to all this scrapbooking stuff, but I'm trying really hard to make a scrapbook for my brother who just got married, using the more casual photos from the wedding.

First, are all gel pens safe for journaling or only certain ones?

Second, vellum. Can you run the 8x11 vellum through your computer printer for journaling purposes? I've carefully written down, verbatim, portions of the minister's sermon, the toast by the best man & matron of honor, etc. and I'd like to use this on my pages, but not in my handwriting because it will take up too much space. I thought it would look neat to print portions out on the vellum & place a solid color behind it using a softly designed vellum. Am I crazy?

Thanks for all your wonderful advice (in advance)!

Welcome to the hobbie (addiction) of scrapbooking.

I only use acid free, archival quality, pigment ink, lightfast, waterproof, fade-Proof, non bleeding pens. Zig is a good brand to use.

I have only printed on Vellum once make sure it you let the page set for the ink to dry. Then put a page proctector on your page.

This sounds like a very nice gift for your brother.

Enjoy and have fun with it and don't forget to put your thoughts in the album in your own handwriting.

I love to print on Vellum! Black ink words best. I have found that the color ink tends to bleed on the paper a little more. And for sure let it dry before placing it on your page. I have not used any type of adhesive on it so I can't help you there but I do love using eyelets to attach it to my pages. And an FYI, Joann's is having a huge sale right now and I got 50 pages of vellum for $5.99.:D

I love to journal on vellum and always use the computer when I do. I think it will also be very elegant in a wedding album.

I just did some printing on vellum, I got a package of ink jet vellum which is also acid free in Staples and it works great. I have used black and colored ink and it dries quickly. I haven't used some of the things I printed yet and they have been shuffled around with other papers and the images are crisp and clear.:D

Remember now, I'm new at this stuff & I think I've picked the wrong project to start with but . . . . .

I've test printed on vellum - it's SO COOL! Now, any suggestions on how to adhere it to the mat that's going to be attached to the scrapbook page? Has anyone made a sticker out of it first to affix it to the mat? I have a xylon sticker maker - or will that sticky stuff show through the vellum?

TIA!
Brenda
