1. What is moleskin and how do you use it?

2. I want to have a caricature picture of my kids done. Where is the best place to have it done at? Also, what do they normally charge to do this.
thanks,
Sheila

I can answer the first question. Moleskin is a soft felt with adhesive on one side that you can cut to size and place it over hot spots or blister prone areas. I used it on my trip on spots I know blister, but my feet sweat so much that after a couple of hours I sweated at least part of the adhesive off and the moleskin started wrinkling, which drove me nuts and I took it off. So I ended up with blisters anyway. Next time I'll either use surgical tape (anyone ever try that?) or I've heard about some people using duct tape in the same way they'd use moleskin. I think either would have a stronger adhesive than the moleskin. Moleskin should be available in the foot care aisle at most drug stores. I bought mine at Target.

I saw charactature artists all over, but I'm not sure how much they charged.

I found this information about caricature sketches on http://allearsnet.com

How about Disney character sketches, drawn to your specifications and personalized by a Disney artist? Sketches with one character are priced $35; two characters, $65. Black mats are available for $15, frames range from $22 to $30. Sketches, mats, frames and engraving are all available at Uptown Jewelers. Of course, you can just purchase the sketch and frame it when you get back home. Uptown Jewelers will also engrave wood and metal picture frames purchased in the shop or at other locations throughout Disney World. The cost is between $6 and $7 for the first two lines and $1 for each additional line.

I had the same issue with the moleskin wrinkling up in my socks last time I went, so this time I tried the duct tape and it worked really well. I put small one-half inch wide strips on the spots that are blister prone, then greased my toes and the ball of my foot with vaseline before putting on my socks and sneakers. No blisters...I did this routine each morning and found the tape stayed in place better than moleskin.

I always use the moleskin and it works well for me. You can find it in the footcare sections of grocery stores, Walmart, Targets, drugstores, etc. I think it actually says mole foam if I'm not mistaken. It comes in 3x4 inch sheets and you cut it to size.

Some resorts have artists in the lobby that does the character scetches, in the parks too. I'm not sure of the cost as I never had one done. I had an artist by the name of Echo at the Beach Club do a beautiful chalk portrait of my granddaughter last June. This artist is incredibly talented. She charged $80 and was so impressed with her that I gave her a $20 tip. She totally captured my granddaughter. The characters aren't as expensive though...I'm thinking $35 but I'm not positive.

We had a caricature done at the Polynesian Lobby after we ate at the Kona Cafe (not a great meal, but we're not talking about eating here). Matthew was excellent. He also worked over at the AK at Discovery Island (center of the park). At the GF, we had a pastel chalk drawing done of our son (this was more realistic and more expensive). I think the caricature was about $25. The pastel was about $80. Our caricature had watercolors added to it or you could get one just in black and white.

I like Blister Block for my blisters. It's by Bandaid and you can find it near the foot care stuff (Dr Scholls) in grocery and drug stores.
