Where can I see some plans or photos of the place? I would like to know how far it is from the main Lodge.

And how long can points be banked? Two years? Three years? I have no clue.

Long time DISer but a DVC rookie ..... thanks for any help you can give me.

I can't address the distance from Kidani Village and main lodge, but I can tell you about banking points.

You can only bank one year's points. However, you can borrow the next year's points also. So if you bank the first year into the second year and then borrow the third year, you can have access to a total of three year's points at one time. We are trying to do that with our AKV add-on so we can stay in a GV for a few days with all our kids and grandkids.

Thanks, that does help. I live 3000 miles away from Disney so we wouldn't be going every year so borrowing points would not hurt us in any way.

If you go to the non-member DVC website you can request a great DVD that will not only explain DVC, but also has a film all about Kidani village at AKL. We are waiting for ROFR on an AKL resale ourselves, so I am new to all the DVC stuff myself!

You can use up to three year's worth of points at one time (unless your trip overlaps your UY start and then you can actually use four year's worth at one time - but it's complicated). You bank one year, use the current year and borrow the next year. So if you won't be coming every year, buy enough points to make it work every three years by banking and borrowing.

recent thread with a pic of construction:

plans for kidani:

as stated, you can bank pts into the next use year...but if you don't use them by the end of that year...they expire and are gone forever.

After looking at the plans for Kidani, it looks like the majority of the standard views are going to be parking lot. :sad2: It looks like I may have to book a savana view to get a decent view.

I think this will make standard views at Jambo more desirable...most reviews I've read from folks in a standard view loved it!!! Have to admit, I'd be a bit disappointed if my balcony at Kidani overlooked a PL:sad1:

When I spoke to a guide last week, she indicated that she has asked this question several times since it looks to them that there are indeed a very large number of parking lot view rooms.

The answer she gave me was that they are telling her that a lot of those rooms are merely facades that appear to be rooms, but are in fact various storage and utility areas. They are maintaining that most rooms will have Savanna views.

This doesn't seem to add up to what the drawing shows, but that's what I was told.

Maybe Kidani Village will be set up similar to SSR with all the views opposite the parking lots, but still enclosed (more like SSR than OKW which is very open).

That may be accurate b/c some of the plans I've viewed on other threads did indicate a large amount of space dedicated to community halls or office/storage space...that makes sense thinking back.

That drawing is not accurate. The three building segments closest to the Lodge building are only one villa deep and will have only savanna facing rooms. Due to the curved layout of the building segments, by the time you get to the fourth building segment (the first one that is two villas deep with a parking lot view on one side and savanna on the other) you are in an area of the grounds where much of the parking is under the building, I don't think there will be a massive parking lot like you see at other resorts -- those rooms will have a view of the roads into/out of the resort and some parking and a lot of greenery (which we were watching them plant today in fact!)

Another thing we noticed today is that the back side of the first building segment or two appear to be loading areas and also house the air conditioning systems (which are MASSIVE!), the recycling area, etc. So it appears there will be no dumpster views in Kidani!!
