A couple of questions regarding GF & Poly

I'm booked to stay at the Poly but considering changing to the GF. We will be bringing our 4 month old daughter on her first ever trip :)

I have a few questions regarding these resorts so I'm hoping someone on here will be able to help me.

How do the pools compare between resorts? Is one quieter than the other?
Do both resorts have zero entry pools?
Are the quick service restaurants comparable or is one better than the other?
Is it true that the beds aren't very comfortable at the Poly?
How do the pool bars compare?

Thank you! :)

GF's pools are quieter, in my opinion.

Both resorts have zero entry areas at both pools.

The QS are both serviceable, but a little chaotic.

The beds are fine at Poly, pretty typical. I'm sure some people hate GF's beds too.

I really like the Oasis Pool bar at Poly.

Both are very comparable for the aspects you mention as well as many other areas.

I find the beds of equal comfort but you do read many people who say GF's beds are better.

Can't really go wrong with either. Not sure if you're deciding based more on what would be better with a 4 year old or what would be better for you, but I think both are about the same. I'd go with whatever theming you like more!

With a 4 month old, you'll likely be around the room more for naps, sleeping, etc, so your room type/view category may come into play in your overall enjoyment factor.

Have fun!

I find GF quieter in general. I find Poly to be quite chaotic. I also think Gasparilla's is easier to navigate than Capt. Cook's. The beds are comfortable at both resorts IMHO.

How do the pools compare between resorts? Is one quieter than the other? We found Poly VERY crowded, although for full disclosure the quiet pool was closed during our stay. Particularly the zero entry area.
Do both resorts have zero entry pools? Yes.
Are the quick service restaurants comparable or is one better than the other? We preferred GF QS... seemed less crowded, and more convenient to get to.
Is it true that the beds aren't very comfortable at the Poly? I don't remember the Poly beds being uncomfortable, but I DO remember how comfortable & luxurious the GF beds were... truly felt like a cloud.
How do the pool bars compare? Didn't do either so I can't comment.

Both also have splash pads (the GF is Alice in Wonderland themed). I also didn't like not having a balcony at POLY... we did have sliders but just a bar on the outside so no place to sit.

Like PP have said you can't go wrong with either option. Given a choice I would always pick GF over any other resort on property.

We prefer GF to Poly because it feels less chaotic. We prefer pretty much every aspect of the resort to the Poly (lovely as it is). Poly does have a path to the TTC which is nice though.

Thanks for all the info! :thumbsup2

That is the vibe I have got when walking between resorts but having not stayed at either I didn't want to make that assumption. Thanks for your reply :)

I agree with everything here. We've stayed at both and while the Poly is our favorite overall for the tropical theme, the GF runs a very close second. We don't find one more chaotic than the other as both have a lot of traffic with people visiting to shop, dine, etc. I think you'll have a great time at either one, so I agree with the above that I'd choose the one that theme/decor appeals to you the most :).

We've stayed at both GF and Poly and prefer Poly for our family. However, with a 4 month old, I'd probably choose GF. It is quieter in general and less hectic.

Thanks for the replies. Do you think it will still be ok at the GF with a 4 month old baby? I assume the Poly has more kids?

YES! Absolutely! Don't let the "image" of the Grand Floridian cloud your thinking, there will be lots of kids of all ages.

We have two little boys and we've stayed at six deluxe resorts and their favorite resorts are GF and Boardwalk. Don't worry--there will be lots of kids at GF, but it's not as hectic as the Poly. Also, there were so many people constantly in and out at Poly for the luau dinner and Ohana and now Trader Sams bar that it just always felt busy.

Thanks! :)

I have noticed the traffic when visiting the Poly ad that does put me off a bit, especially if we have a bad day with the LO and we just want to retreat back at the resort. Not sure we can do that so much at the Poly.

You will find tons of kids at every Disney resort, it's Disney after all:)
I also agree that the GF's pools are quieter than the Poly. But, you can't go wrong with either choice. They are both lovely. Have fun!

Thanks for all the replies! I have decided on a split stay at GF and a condo resort. This way I have the best of both worlds and if I find that being in a hotel room is tricky with a baby I know that we'll be moving on shortly.

Thanks for all the help! :)

We just got back from GF with our almost 3 year old twin boys. We actually loved that there were kids everywhere. It's not stuffy at all. In fact, there are extra little girls in princess dresses everywhere, which our boys loved! The pools were all awesome. Enjoy!
