This is our first time using our points. We are arriving June 24 ( :cool1: ) and we are wondering if check in at OKW using points is at the same desk as if you pay rack price? (yup three times at rack rate, boy do I wish I knew about renting points back then!!!)

Also, we are looking into getting groceries at Publix I have read they will pull the order & have it waiting for you. I was wondering if any of you have advice on what would be the best time to a) place the order and b) pick up the order. We hate to waste our Sunday. As we will have to check out of ASMu & into OKW, then have ressies at Chef Mickeys at 9:50 am. I know bad timing on the CM ressies, live & learn I guess. Anyway, can anyone help me out with this. Should we leave the park at 4:00 (as I figure we cant chance the room not being ready & the groceries going bad), or should we just live without groceries until the next day & pick them up early? Any advice?

Thanks,

Dee

I've been to VWL and BWV and the check-location at both places was the same desk as the rack rate people. Your reservation will notate if you're using points.

Now for groceries.....I can't help you...sorry......but..........what groceries are you buying? And why are you buying them? The first time we went to VWL, we did a grocery stop on the way to the resort. We got bread, milk, eggs, yogurt, snacks, etc. We ate the food because we bought it. However, at our next stay, we just skipped the grocery run. It wasn't worth it. We just decided to buy what we needed at the mercantiles and pay the higher prices. In the long run, the higher prices were less important that the time spent at the grocery store. I'm on vacation and it's someplace I really don't want to visit!!! I've got 4 kids and I'm on a first-name basis with the staff at our local Superfresh :earseek: I'm more than happy not to visit Florida's stores!!!

I hope this helps a little.....

Since OKW is only a DVC resort and not connected to any Disney hotel, there is only one check-in desk.

There is only one check in desk at BWV and VWL (I think) as well. Checking in on points is pretty much just like checking in on cash - except your bill at the end should be smaller (unless you put on room charging and go wild).

For groceries, we usually do our pre-check-in and head for a park until we get our room assignment. Once we have the assignment, we head over to Publix and grocery shop so we can get all settled into the unit before heading back for an evening in the park again. We usually like to do Illuminations that first night.
