I am going to WDW in Jan (very beginning). On disneyworld.com, they say that Splash mountain & Rock'n Roller Coaster are going to be closed from Jan 2nd-Jan 28th. Is there any chance at all that they might push back these referb times a couple of days? So maybe I'll have a chance at getting to ride them? Or am I screwed?

You're screwed... but we are, too!! We arrive on the 3rd, so we'll miss both Splash and RnR. El Rio Del Tiempo in Mexico will be closed, too. I guess they have to do refurbs sometime, but I'm bummed that they will have 2 such major rides down at the same time.

I guess there's always next time, right?

My experience is that sometimes Disney finishes a rehab sooner than thought, but the day to start one is set in stone.

That really blows. I havent been on Splash mountain in like 7 years!!!! Last time I was at DisneyLAND with my family in 2001 it was CLOSED !!! And then NOW!!!! That sucks SOOOOOOOOOO Bad!!!!! Its been since like 1999 that I was on splash!!!!

We will be there the 17th till the 26th........We will be there for the very first Pirate and Princess Party, and I hope that they are trying to work hard and maybe open a tiny bit early to make that date!
You never know, maybe they have the date as a buffer incase they dont get it done......but they are shooting to have it open for the first party. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

We will be there almost the exact same dates, and of course at the pirate/princess party. We got lucky last year and splash was open
on the first day we go there, but closed the rest of the trip. Hopefully,
we get to ride it at least once this trip!!

1) Sometimes, the rehabs open sooner than expected.
2) There is ALWAYS contingency slop-time build in.
3) This way, they are not late in start-ups.
4) They seldom start later than scheduled.
5) There is just too much in play to change a start-date

. . . scheduled material deliveries
. . . scheduled contractors
. . . scheduled etc functions

Your dates are a little off for the refurb from the latest updates I have seen:

Splash is closed starting Jan 2, expected to reopen Jan 28
RNRC is closed starting Jan 2, expected to reopen Jan 22

I am traveling during those times, I will most likely miss Splash all together - but as much as I love the ride, January is a great time to close water rides if you ask me. I planned my visit to MGM for a time after the reopen of RNRC. I think that's the best way to handle it
