Flip Flops this time of year it just don't sounds right in my ears
Here it's raining and 34ºF. That means the ice is back. Tomorrow they say it's going to be 28,4ºF and snowing. That is not good. Because then the snow will hide the ice and you won't know if it's slippery or not.
In Norway we have a word for when the snow is hiding the ice that's underneath. We call it "Blindhålke". Meaning something like Blind slipperiness or Blind ice. The word "Hålke" means very slippery ice. I'm guessing it's icy in Norway a lot since we have words for describing the icy roads.
I hope your day at Target goes ok and that your schedule is back as you like it.
I know - Flip Flops in January doesn't sound right... but anytime - any season - my feet can excape shoes - well, I've just gotta do it.
Ice can be so scary! Please drive safely!
We have "Black Ice" - which is when the ice is the same color as the road and you can't see it. They sometimes use that term when there is snow on top of the ice as well - although, your description and word usage makes more sense.
Thanks... It was an OK day at Target... My schedule still isn't back to normal yet...
I think people here did break out the flip flops. We haven't gotten as warm as the rest of the state, but it was in the high 60's on Saturday and again in the low 60's yesterday. The coast, which is usually cooler temps, is breaking record highs. They have been in the low 70's.
I can't wait to read about your whole30 stats. I think it will be a whole 50 for me. I plan on going out of town with a friend on Feb. 20th and that is usually the time we splurge and treat ourselves to dinner out.
We weren't that warm here... Only 44°... But that was good enough for me. I tan in my swimsuit in the spring when it's above 55°.
Well, I hope my Whole30 stats are worth posting... LOL - Quite honestly - I am not seeing too much difference, so we'll see what the scale, photos and measurements say fo rme later today...
How is yours going? Is it getting any easier for you?
Working from home thank god. We have two feet at least and it's still coming down. Hope everyone here who is in the path is safe and warm.
Congratulations on getting to D30. I have been reading "Primal Blueprint"and have been trying to regulate my eating habits more closely to the plan.
My biggest issue is how to start the caveman exercise portion. I am in the middle of PT for back and neck issues right now so will have to be really slow. They have me using 3lb and 5lb weights and that is not going to cut it.
Luckily Allison did not have to remain on the steroids for long. I HATE them. They had been part of my treatments for the better part of 2013. Before this all hit the fan at the end of 2012 I was right with you and had lost 25lbs. After the treatments I put on 30lbs. I had been stuck forever and nothing was moving no matter what. I am slowly starting to loose a little bit now. We shall see. Keep on keeping on and all that.
I have been very lucky and try hard to be positive others have had a much more difficult journey.
Keep me posted on the road trip if it happens I am going to try and save some so that a weekend trip may be possible by the time that rolls around. I would love to meet everyone who's reports I always read but remain silent on.
Have a good day!!
Jane
Stay safe out there with all of that snow! It's crazy out east!
I still love the Primal Blueprint - it is the foundation of everything I do... And I love the way Mark writes. I still think that what you fuel your body with is the most important part... If your body doesn't permit you to do the exercise portion of it - I wouldn't push it. There is a lot of the exercise portion that I don't do yet... I probably should - I have dreams of doing the "sprint" portion some day... And I think the hill outside our house would be great for it. Sprinting up that thing will likely fit the bill for that - after all - I remember days, not too long ago, I couldn't even walk up that hill. If I could sprint up it - it would be a HUGE victory for me! So... I think the most important part is the food... The exercise portion will fall into place later. And remember to go slow... I was putting together a collage the other day of some of my progress pictures, and it took me 1.5 YEARS just to give up soda and anything that came in a box/can/bag - so it takes time, a lot of time. It wasn't until the 1.5 year mark that I gave up grains and sugar... So, I was well into it when that happened - and you'll be amazed when you see the difference between my Standard American Diet (SAD) eating and my Primal eating... It's really crazy! So, take your time, do one thing at a time and really concentrate on that - if that's how you want to do this. And release yourself from the "race" of it all... Enjoy yourself and the effects it will have on your body - the rest of it will come in due time.
I am thankful that Allison didn't have to stay on them for long either... She only took 1 dose - but it was enough to cut her swelling and it never came back... but it did mess with her in other ways - which surprised me after only one dose... It's rather scary. I cannot imagine having to be on them for longer.
You are such a positive person - I enjoy reading your posts immensely!
I will keep you all posted on the road trip - I still want to make it happen, I am just not sure when.
I had to quote this because the first line is PERFECT!! Of course, I don't wear flip-flops any time of the year - I hate things between my toes.
But then the whole many words for ice thing just made me laugh.
I'm not going into anything until January is over. We thought it had smoothed out, but last week was not fabulous and this week is turning out to be stress inducing as well. So, while I'm trying to keep up, I won't be posting anything much for another few days.
Loved the bags, by the way.
Here's to more flip flop weather your way and the less than apocalyptic winter storm in the NE. Stay warm, y'all.
Hehehe... Anything above 35° is "flip flop weather" for me.

A true Minnesotan! Anything above 55° is swimsuit weather... So....
I hope your week goes much better and much less stressful.
Thank you... I need to be better about posting them here.
Thanks! You stay warm too!
Well we survived the storm. Actually, we only got about 2" .
I hope that everyone else that got the storm was safe. Of course they are watching for another one this Thursday into Friday.
Glad V is back on the bus. I hope it continues to go well for her.
How is Alli doing? I hope her recovery is going well.
Can't wait to hear about your stats from D30. Can't believe how fast time went. 30 days already!
Flip Flops?!!! My feet just snuggled in deeper into my fuzzy slippers. If it's not 80 degrees or higher I am not a happy camper. The hotter the better.
An update on my brothers house. They should start working on it Thursday. The contractor has to come in and start replacing the support beams etc. before the electrician can come in to start the wiring. I hope the weather cooperates for that to get moving.
Hope you had a good day at Target and that you are back to your normal schedule.
Thoughts and prayers to all!
Wow~~!!! You did get lucky! Hopefully you are lucky with the next one too.
Thanks - I hope so too... I try to drive her still, as much as possible - I try to time my trips to town so that I can pick her up from school.
Alli is doing better... She has done 4 full days of school now - 2 days for finals last week and Mon, Tues this week. She went to bed early last night though - she was exhausted. So, we will see how today goes. She might need to sleep in a little? But otherwise - she feels normal, she says.
Hehehe... I love my flip flops... I wear them year round inside the house.
Praying that work continues in a timely manner on your brother's house. Please keep me updated if you remember.
Thanks... Nope - not back to my normal schedule yet... Maybe the next one? I can hope.
Hoping you avoid the next storm too - stay safe~!
**********************************************************
I had a nice day yesterday... It was a Target day. Sigh. My schedule still isn't back to Mondays.

Hoping for the next one.
I had my hair cut yesterday after work... I am still trying to grow out the back from my inverted bob - which is a slow and agonizing process. LOL But it's getting there... Just don't look at me from the back.
Today is kind of a crazy day...
I have all of my Whole30 stuff to do this morning... Weighing, measuring, photo taking... Believe it or not - that does take time.
Plus I have to work out first.
Then I need to get ready and pick up the girls early from school. They have individual appointments on the other side of the metro... So, an hour + drive there and back...
I probably won't set a foot in my sewing room at all today.

Not good.
Right now - I am enjoying my coffee with a little bit of creamer in it. To be honest - it tastes funny... I think the creamer has some chemical in it, and it leaves a funny taste in my mouth... I am going to try half n' half tomorrow.
I'll be back later today to post my stats... I am not sure about posting my pictures here? We'll see... I am wearing a sports bra and shorts in them and I am not sure how "family friendly" that is? I guess it's better than a bikini? I dunno? We'll see how I feel about it after I take the pictures - and if I feel confident enough.
Have a great day everyone! If you received lots of snow from the blizzard - please stay warm and safe!
