~~ A Celebration of Life-long friendship ~~ Sew Sweet 16 ~~ Now N' Thens 3/11

Love the floor. The refrigerator really sets off the Christmas tree. Nice touch. I would have never thought of doing that. :rotfl:

Do you know if any of your bags are currently visiting WDW? I came down for a very last minute, very short trip to see the holiday lights and while I haven't had much luck ever seeing "dis outfits" because I tend to travel in cold months, I thought I could keep an eye out for one of your bags.

Three things have already been checked off my list -- staying at Riverside, saw Yeeha Bob, beignets for breakfast. Now if I could see a D~ bag it would be like a hat trick with ears.

Carry on.

:sail: Heading to Wilderness Lodge to see the decorations. Hope they let me drive.

The floor looks GREAT!!! Love the refrigerator decor for the holidays. lol
Thank you for sharing your house pics. Beautiful handy work, and the house looks great.
Glad you had a nice evening out with your co-workers.
Today my daughter took her last final. Another semester down. I don't know how she kept up with her crazy schedule but she did it. Hugh relief for her and me.
Have a wonderful day!!

Your floor looks great.

Too bad you have to do the applique all over again on the bag.

Floor looks great.

I'm not friends with you on facebook, i do stalk your business page. I decided i do want to do the whole 30. I'm pm you my name later so you can add me in. - pesty work.

I have a sewing machine question for you, i have been making my girls reversible fabric headbands. DD1 decided she is she playing basketball with her friends I should make the whole team headbands. I have all the pieces ready, just needed to add the elastic and attach them, while on the third one last night, the fabric got caught under the dog feeders. any ideas on they way to get it unstuck? I have a brother sewing machine.

The plate on that goes over the feed dogs should come off. Not sure if yours is attached with a screw or if it slides out, but you should take it off and it will be easier to try to get the fabric out of the hole.

Hope that helps. I don't have a brother sewing machine here anymore, so I can't double check.

So I've been mia again. I spent Saturday shopping with my dil, Melissa. We had a good time, but I swear we spent more time looking for a parking space than we did in the mall - LOL.

Sunday was spent in the sewing room. I'm making a quilt for my dd Kate's boyfriend, Chris. I also finished stockings for Charlie and Chris. We have a "generic" stocking that we use for boyfriends/girlfriends until they become part of the family. Then they get one of their own (with their name).

Monday was work - and I got a gold star from my boss for color coding the files - LOL :rotfl: We spent Friday last week cleaning out old plans and letters - 3 years worth and reorganizing the remaining files. I put different colored sticky notes on the file drawers where we keep the plans for each year.

Last night I went out to dinner with my coworkers, too. We went to Red Robin - which just opened recently. I'd never been to one before. Then we went shopping - we "adopted" 5 developmentally disabled adults for Christmas and we were buying their gifts. Have you ever been shopping with 7 OCD women? We had so much fun! Monday we will spend the afternoon wrapping gifts!

This Saturday we are going to Arlington National Cemetery for the laying of the wreaths ceremony. Jim and his lady friend Karen, Charlie and I are going to Bethesda to pick up Kat (who is doing great, btw) and taking the train to Arlington. I think we are leaving at o'dark thirty.:scared1: I'm so looking forward to going. We are also going to visit our great-great grandfather and grandmother's graves. He was a musician from Pennsylvania in the Civil War.

Your kitchen floor looks great! Can't believe that's linoleum! I think you should leave the fridge in the living room - it makes it so much more convenient to get a cold drink while you are watching tv  The mantel looks great too. We used to live in an old house too - pre 1900. It didn't have a fireplace, but we did have a mantel in the living room. My son Andrew painted the space in the middle to look like it was a real fireplace.

We need new kitchen counters desperately - and a new floor too - oh and a new back splash. My counters are separating from the base, the floor (linoleum) is curling and is torn and the back splash is stick on tiles that aren't very sticky any longer. Charlie is talking about getting granite counters in the spring - and if we do that, I'm getting new flooring and a new back splash too.

:worship:

I'm also hoping to get a roof over my front porch next year. Its just a small porch, kind of like you had originally, but no roof to protect from the rain or snow - or even the sun.

Edited to add - I did see the picture of Reese in her Belle gown. I had tears in my eyes to see how happy she was.

I think the floor looks great! I agree with Josh, painted outlets are horrid....didn't you say you wanted to out rod iron sconces next to the canvas? Maybe you could get a black outlet cover to kind of go with that. Or if you have so,e brushed steel candle holders or something up there, get a brushed steel cover. You can make it look like it belongs :)

All the craziness will be worth it when you move everything back in place and see your beautiful floor in action :)

Have a great day!

Sounds good Lisa Joy... I'll be watching for your PM. :thumbsup2

I see that Tess replied to you already, I agree with her - you should be able to get the feed dog plate out, and you should be able to lift it all out to get your fabric out. Hopefully that helps.

Ok the appliances in the living room is a DANG RIOT!!!! I LOVE IT! I LOVE THE CHAOS! can't wait to see it all done!

It seems to me, you thrive on chaos? :stir:

Love the floor. The refrigerator really sets off the Christmas tree. Nice touch. I would have never thought of doing that.

Oh my goodness Shannon - I darned near lost my coffee this morning.

Well, hello there Cheryl! Long time, no see! I hope you are well - you must be if you are in WDW.

Sorry, I don't know if any of my bags are there right now, I know there was one person there last week (who has several) - but she is home now.

Enjoy your trip!!! And I dream of seeing WL during the holidays some day. :wizard:

The floor looks GREAT!!! Love the refrigerator decor for the holidays. lol

Hahaha... Not you too. LOL Darn near lost my coffee again.

Thanks... We are getting there. We still have LOTS of trim work to be done for both projects - I really hope to get it done over this winter, it would make a HUGE difference in how I feel about our house. Oh and painting too... Lots of painting to touch up - especially in the kitchen and living room.

Yes, it was a lots of fun!

COngratulations to your dd!!! So awesome!

Thanks - you too!

Your floor looks great.

Too bad you have to do the applique all over again on the bag.

THanks Lillian.

It wasn't that bad, thankfully, and I am glad I redid it - it turned out much better the second time around. :thumbsup2

Wow, the floor looks amazing! I can't believe how fast you got everything up!

Lissette

Yes, I agree - I am so, so happy with it. It's so nice to be able to sweep my floors and actually have them look clean - it really makes me feel better about my life. LOL I am sort-of serious here... I love to entertain and have people over, but I avoided it all the time because my floors were so bad. Next, we need to have the living room recarpeted... but that's something we will have someone come in and do - it's just too much work for us, and Josh doesn't want to do it. ::yes:: Anyways - lots of trim work left to do in the kitchen for us, Josh was able to get the trim up behind the fridge, so we could put that back in place last night, but we still have the rest to do.

The plate on that goes over the feed dogs should come off. Not sure if yours is attached with a screw or if it slides out, but you should take it off and it will be easier to try to get the fabric out of the hole.

Hope that helps. I don't have a brother sewing machine here anymore, so I can't double check.

Thanks Tess! THis is what I was thinking too.

So I've been mia again. I spent Saturday shopping with my dil, Melissa. We had a good time, but I swear we spent more time looking for a parking space than we did in the mall - LOL.

Hello stranger, I"ve missed you!!!

Sounds like you did have a great time... I try to avoid the mall on weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas - unless I can get there right at opening.

Awww... That is so sweet of you! I was thinking of doing something like that for Gus... He spends so much time here, he is like my 3rd kid (or 4th, if you count MM). ::yes::

Monday was work - and I got a gold star from my boss for color coding the files - LOL We spent Friday last week cleaning out old plans and letters - 3 years worth and reorganizing the remaining files. I put different colored sticky notes on the file drawers where we keep the plans for each year.

Yay!!! Congratulations! Sounds like it was a huge job!

ROFL - sounds like it was a blast! And what a WONDERFUL and CARING thing to do!

This Saturday we are going to Arlington National Cemetery for the laying of the wreaths ceremony. Jim and his lady friend Karen, Charlie and I are going to Bethesda to pick up Kat (who is doing great, btw) and taking the train to Arlington. I think we are leaving at o'dark thirty. I'm so looking forward to going. We are also going to visit our great-great grandfather and grandmother's graves. He was a musician from Pennsylvania in the Civil War.

WOW!!!! This sounds amazing! What an awesome, awesome opportunity! And to have family laid to rest at Arlington, what an honor! Have a great time, I hope the weather is good for you and for travel. :wizard:

I think you should leave the fridge in the living room - it makes it so much more convenient to get a cold drink while you are watching tv The mantel looks great too. My son Andrew painted the space in the middle to look like it was a real fireplace.

I know - it's crazy that it's linoleum - linoleum has come a long way since the last time I looked at it. It does look very realistic, I am very happy with it, especially since it was one of the cheaper ones - I am certainly not going to complain. ::yes::

Hahaha... Not you too... The fridge went back last night - I couldn't stand my appliances in my living room any longer. :rolleyes1

I've thought about building a "fake" fireplace - they are all over pinterest, and some of them are very realistic and awesome. We have a heat vent there too - so, it could get quite realistic. But when I asked Josh - he vetoed that decision. :confused3 Darn men... Ruin my fun.

I'm also hoping to get a roof over my front porch next year. Its just a small porch, kind of like you had originally, but no roof to protect from the rain or snow - or even the sun.

Counter tops and cupboards are on my list too - but those are definitely waiting until we put on the addition - unless we find a really good deal somewhere that we can't pass up... Like someone is remodeling their kitchen because they are sick of their cabinets and they are giving their old ones away for free - then we might replace ours. LOL But that won't happen, so I am pretty safe.

I hope you are able to get a new roof over your front porch. I love our front porch addition - between that and the bay window - really changed the whole look of our house.

Edited to add - I did see the picture of Reese in her Belle gown. I had tears in my eyes to see how happy she was.

Me too! It was just the sweetest thing!

**********************************************************

I had an awesome day yesterday!

It started off with a raging headache. I was supposed to do heavy lifting, but I decided to do my WATP - there was no way I could lift with that headache. And I am weird with taking meds - I refuse to do it on an empty stomach, and I refuse to eat breakfast until 9am... So, I made myself wait.

After I worked out - I ran to the grocery store and the meat market to get a few supplies for beef stew. Since I didn't have my oven plugged in, I decided to make something with my crock pot. It worked out well. And it's Whole30 approved. :thumbsup2

20141211_101526.jpg

When I got home, I ate breakfast and took some ibuprofen... My headache was gone within the hour. PHew.

I had a great day in my sewing room. I redid the front of the one bag. I have never had to do that before, but I am glad I did. The second one definitely turned out better than the first.

When the girls got home from school... Alli and Max decided to play around on the empty kitchen floor. :dance3: So, of course, I took pictures - I promised I wouldn't post them on FB... :rolleyes1

20141211_161320.jpg

Gus came over later... Him and Alli decided to go hang out elsewhere, because there was no where to sit in our living room, and there was nothing to do in our kitchen. LOL

Josh came home, we had dinner - in the kitchen - with no table. LOL So we all ate stew in hot bowls on our lap. ::yes:: Fun!

Then we had to run and get his truck... He had to get new rear brakes yesterday.

We came home, Alli and Gus were here. We moved most of our appliances and furniture back into the kitchen. The only appliance that's not back is the dishwasher. Josh will get that moved and hooked back up tonight. :woohoo:

It looks very nice. I have some cleaning to do this morning - dishes again. Then I will take pictures and post here.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Prayers and pixie dust to all of you! :grouphug:

Allison made an announcement last night after Gus left...

:mic:

She announced that she was no longer a vegetarian. :cheer2:

I guess, they went out for dinner last night, and she ordered a hamburger.

In all honesty, she has been talking a lot about going back to eating meat lately. She was starting to really worry about her health. Last week, she came up to me and asked if the reason she has been so sick lately and can't seem to shake it is because she isn't eating meat? I told her that it was possible, and it is. If her body is malnourished - it won't be able to heal itself.

And she has been asking a lot of questions about my Primal/Paleo lifestyle. She sees how much healthier I am, and I know this has had a big affect on her eating style, as well. She knows, if she can eat more this way - many of her skin issues would likely be reduced.

I am a little bit worried about her though, I told her to take it slow, reintigrating meat into her diet... Not to go full out and have meat 3x/day right away... She needs to be gradual.

So, wish us luck and we embark on this new journey together, it's going to be very hard for her, I think. :grouphug:

D~

Glad she is going to start eating meat again.. But starting with a burger may not have been the best of ideas?!?

can't wait to see the pictures of you kitchen all DONE AND PWETTY

The (almost) finished kitchen... We still have trim work to do.. And it looks like we might be investing in a new basement door too - for some reason, our old one is rubbing badly on the new linoleum? :confused3

We also plan on ripping out the coat closet behind the door and making it the full depth of a real closet - the one we have now isn't very deep and we can't put hangers in it, so Josh is going to make it the proper depth, so we can acutally hang our coats on hangers rather than hooks... We have all of the materials for that, with exception to the rod and the door... I'd love to have this project done this winter too.

Let me just say - I love it, love, love, love it! The wood floor makes is look so much more cozy...

I am headed to Kohls with BFF later today, and I am hoping to find a few cute items for on the mantel too... If I do, I will post pics of that.

Anyways... The promised picture... What a difference! :woohoo:

Kitchen looks great! I know how hard it is to be without a kitchen. We redid my kitchen 2 years ago. I was without a kitchen for over 2 months- used microwave and toaster oven. I didn't use the crockpot because i didn't have a sink to clean in it.

Tess and D thanks for the advice about how to get the fabric out. I took of the bobbin plate, but could not get the dog feed ( i never knew they were called that until i got the fabric stuck in them) since all of my screwdrivers are too tall. I didn't even think of using a coin till some one mentioned after i was done. I wound up hand sewing the elastic in the fabric tubes and using the machine to attach them. Somehow I miss counted and wound up with 9 completed headbands, and 1 elastic band. I found 1/2 the cut fabric for the 10th headband but wasn't concerned since I thought there was 9 girls on the team. Turns out there are 10. I had forgotten that the girls good friend from last year who switched schools was going to join the team, i figured she changed her mind since wasn't on the email letting us know about practice.

I'm glad you had a great day yesterday.

That's great news Alli will start eating meat again.

Your kitchen looks GREAT :cool1:

I hope you have a great day with BFF and that you find the things you want for your mantel.

Your kitchen looks great and I suppose the refrigerator had to go back at some point.

Great news about Alli. If I had been a vegetarian and was going to add meat back in, yup, the hamburger would be my first choice too, with bacon. Hopefully, she won't pay too much for that decision.

I need to get on Amazon right now and order my book for the Whole30 challenge. Can't believe I have been putting it off. I might also get the Nom Nom paleo one as well.

Marissa had a slight freak out yesterday when she saw pictures of the Duck QB with mouse ears. She was sure the football team was in Disneyland and that the marching band was not going to get to go. I reassured her that he was in WDW for the College Football Awards. Plus, the band got their Rose Bowl itinerary yesterday and they will for sure be going to Disneyland. They arrive at noon, perform at 2 pm and then get until 11 pm to play around. I am a tad jealous.

Have a great shopping trip.

The kitchen looks great! I'm glad Alli decided to give up her vegetarianism, hopefully she'll follow in your footsteps with healthier eating habits.

Just wanted to say hi! This has been a crazy week for me.

The kitchen looks awesome! You guys did a great & quick job of it.

Wishing Allison lots of luck going back to meat. Thinking about it now, we eat a lot more chicken, pork & fish then red meat. Growing up it was the opposite.

Glad she is going to start eating meat again.. But starting with a burger may not have been the best of ideas?!?

can't wait to see the pictures of you kitchen all DONE AND PWETTY

Yes, I know... She is taking it slow though. I took her to Jimmy Johns yesterday for dinner before work - and she had her normal vegetarian sandwich. I told her to go slow the other night, and she seems to be. :thumbsup2

Me too...

WOW!!! I think I would go nuts with out my kitchen for 2 months! But I am sure that's how it will be when we finally actually redo our kitchen for real. popcorn::

Glad you were able to get the headbands figured out, and you were able to make enough of them. Great job - they are very cute! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you had a great day yesterday.

That's great news Alli will start eating meat again.

Your kitchen looks GREAT

I hope you have a great day with BFF and that you find the things you want for your mantel.

I know - it's a relief, I am a bit nervous that her body is going to be a mess for a while though.

Thanks! I am super happy with it - it's so nice to walk in there and have it feel so clean... I wish we would have bit the bullet years ago and did it back then.

Thanks! We had a lot of fun! I"ll be posting a new mantle picture below.

Yes, I am not so sure about that decision - but she didn't complain too much about it.

I am about half way through the book, since I've read so many books on this subject - most of the info is stuff I already knew, but it's just recementing it in my brain. :thumbsup2 Every time I read about the food that's "safe" for us to eat, filling our grocery stores - I just get so angry that society (as a whole) is just so blind to what they are feeding their bodies... Even though they are eating "food" - there is no nutritional value in most of our foods and our country is malnourished... Which is why there are sooo many medical issues which are now the norm that never used to be. :headache: It's just sad.

So glad to hear that Marissa and the band are certainly going to DL! It will be such a fun trip for them. Are you going to try to go with?

The kitchen looks great! I'm glad Alli decided to give up her vegetarianism, hopefully she'll follow in your footsteps with healthier eating habits.

Just wanted to say hi! This has been a crazy week for me.

Hi Jennifer! Thanks!

I hope so too... I know she wants to... and I think that's part of the reason she gave it up. I know my life will be a little easier - only having to make 2 meals per day, instead of 3... but now I will have to share. LOL

I hope you have a great weekend - thanks for stopping by!

The kitchen looks awesome! You guys did a great & quick job of it.

Wishing Allison lots of luck going back to meat. Thinking about it now, we eat a lot more chicken, pork & fish then red meat. Growing up it was the opposite.

Yes, it was very quick - which makes me happy!

Thanks... Yes, I am sure she will be eating more "lighter" meats, especially at first. Hopefully she can eat other meats too at some point. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

I had a really fun day yesterday!

I lifted my weights right away in the morning...

Then I got showered and ready, drove up to meet BFF for a day of shopping.

We shopped at Kohls (got a few items dirt cheap for the mantel for next fall)... Is it mantle or mantel? I've seen it spelled both ways. :confused3 And a Google search tells me that both spellings mean the same thing. Super confused.

Then we went to Michael's... Found some AWESOME mantle stuff there for quite cheap. :woohoo: The flameless candles that I really wanted are soooo expensive everywhere (like $20 each), and Michael's - they were $9.99 and $7.99 + on sale for 50% off... I was a happy girl. Wish I would have got more. But now I know where to get them. :thumbsup2 I also found some garland for the mantle too... Which was 60% off. All in all - it was a great day at Michaels! :cool1:

After that, we went out for lunch - we were starving. I'd forgotten to eat breakfast before I left the house. We decided on Denny's... I think that was a bad choice. This Denny's was not very clean. I ordered, what is usually, safe food for me when I am eating out... Breakfast. Eggs, sausage, potatoes... The eggs were good. I think the sausage had bread fillers in it. And the potatoes were deep fried. :headache: I should have just not eaten, but I was hungry - so I did. My stomach was not thrilled with that decision. Too much grease. :sad2:

Then we went up to Trader Joes... I've been with out my unsalted crunchy almond butter for weeks - and it's a staple in my life... So I stocked up. :woohoo: I also purchased a few other non-essentials, but I love shopping there - wish they were closer to home.

I dropped bff off at her house, then I ran to town to pick Alli up from school to kill time with her before work. Got her dinner at Jimmy Johns... She ordered her usual veggie sub - which is good, I am glad she is taking it slow. She told me in the car that she eventually plans to go Paleo with me - she sees how it has totally changed me, and she really admires that. :lovestruc I look forward to living this lifestyle with her... If she can successfully be a vegetarian for 14 months, I have no doubt that she can do Paleo/Primal too - as long as her body recovers.

After Alli went to work, I picked up V from school (she had to make up a few tests/labs from when she missed school this week) and we came home.

We hung out until Josh got here. I decorated the matel with all the new cool stuff I got... I stlil need another candle holder for the other candle - but those things are expensive - so I am going to wait a little while. I love how it turned out though - it's so festive! I am not the best decorator in the world... but I have BIG plans for next year - I've been pinning like crazy on Pinterest. I plan on doing some clearance Christmas shopping after the holidays, so I can really go big next year!

20141213_052407.jpg

V went to do an activity with church, and Josh and I hung out on our tablets all night.

Sadly, the dishwasher didn't get re-installed last night. Josh was too tired and sore... He took MM outside the other night, and he was running like a crazy man (MM not Josh) - and he plowed Josh right over, Josh landed on his hip... So, he has had a sore ankle, hip and back for a few days. He says it's getting better, but MM is a powerful dog - he's taken me right off my feet before too.

Gus picked Alli up from work last night, and they hung out here.

Today... I plan on working on a few Christmas gifts with V in my sewing room. Hopefully we can get them finished up.

Josh is at a Pheasants Forever meeting with the Governor of MN today.

Today is our 17th wedding anniversary... So, once Josh is done with his meeting, he is coming home to take me out. Super excited - I get to wear my new sweater dress that I didn't get to wear on Thanksgiving. :woohoo: Can't wait to find out where he is taking me!

I hope all of you have a nice weekend. Prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

Have a great time tonight.

I'm amazed at home of the food Is crap, and for kids how many activities have food. My girls school holiday party is an ice cream sundae deal. Had to sign permission for them to have ice cream, whip cream, sprinkles and chocolate syrup.
Last year after field day they had ice pops and the permission form had the ingredients on. First this was high fructose corn syrup.

Happy Anniversary. Have fun tonight.
I'm glad Allie is taking it slowly after all that time her body has to adjust to eating meat again.
Your kitchen looks so good. I'd like to put something like that in my kitchen.
The mantle looks nice all decorated for Christmas. I have a mantle above my fireplace but it has a lot of Disney snow globes on it. I'm afraid the cats would try to take down the garland while I'm at work.
An update on my friend at work. She didn't get in trouble for leaving early which is good. They told her that since she felt she couldn't do her job and had told a member of management about that customer and why she was leaving it was ok.
Today we're supposed to be taking pictures with Santa if the guy that's is staying in for Santa can do it. Last week it was too busy and he couldn't leave his regular job.
Have a good weekend.

Ok, I guess I have to try to respond in the evenings because you always miss me when I post in the mornings. It seems like we are on at the same time in the AM :) It's happened a few times, but I forgive you ;)

So glad Allison is eating meat again.....you can be very healthy as a vegetarian, but I'm just happy that you don't have to continue to cook a separate meal for her! How exciting to have a "primal buddy" to continue this journey.

Your kitchen looks amazing! I love that mantle (my autocorrect spells it that way). I can't wait to see you decorate it for every season!
