A bit confused...can anyone help?

I received a MouseSavers e-mail notice today, outlining a new 7 for 4 deal Disney is now offering into January of 2010. It looks like last year's offer minus the $200.00 gift card. So, I pay for 4 nights at rack rate and get 7 nights. Plus, I must buy my park admission tickets as part of the package.

The confusing part comes with something else I read on the MouseSavers website concerning room only discounts. The information there said that if a room only discount comes available after I book a 7 for 4 package, I can call Disney and get the room only discount applied to my 7 for 4 package. There will be a $50.00 fee for making the change.

Now, I thought Disney would not let us "piggyback" discounts. Have they changed their policy? Can I really book the 7 for 4 package and call at a later date to request a room only discount be applied to my rack rate for the room, if such a discount becomes available?

Sounds too good to be true. Is it?

Second question... I also read on MouseSavers that Disney automatically applies non-refundable trip insurance to any package you buy from them, unless you instruct them otherwise. Does anyone know what the cost of this insurance is?

Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated.

Mousesavers is a great website, They are good at getting inside info, but they are sometimes not accurate.
Piggy backdeals have always been unavailable in the past. We've always had to choose, with the exception of some recent pincodes that some folks have received that have allowed them to get free dining and free upgrades, but that is not business as usual and I would not anticipate it becoming so.

As for the insurance, they automatically add it in on the website, but you can look at it and see it is there and change it! It is around $65 per adult. I have always purchased it on purpose. To each his/her own. I have booked over the phone and been asked if I wished to purchase it, but it has never been slid past me.

One thing that is true, if you make a change to your reservation past the 45 day mark that makes your cost go down, they will charge a $50 change fee.

Hope this helped.

Thanks Minniemama350...yes, your explanation did help a lot. It is as I thought...no "piggybacking" on deals. That's okay. One or the other is still good.

We have our own trip insurance, so we would not need Disney's. Thanks for the info though.

Ok I just called to get a quote and the cm told me you have to get a min of 5 day base ticket for the 4/3 mod and 6 day base ticket for the 5/2 value? Is this how is it now? I know cm's dont always get it right.

No, you only need the 4 day ticket or the 5 day ticket. The CM's are a bit confused, I think all of us here at the Disboards that overloaded them yesterday with this offer threw them for a BIG loop! :lmao: They weren't expecting the calls until Thursday. ;)

But, there's no extra cost to getting the 7 day ticket instead of the 4 or 5 day ticket so you might as well get the 7 day one.

That's not what is stated here on the DIS - here is what i copied from the DIS link

Value resorts: Get 2 free nights when you book 5 nights at a Disney value resort. Must also purchase a 6 day Magic Your Way park ticket.

Moderates, Deluxes, Deluxe Villas resorts: Get 3 free nights when you book 4 nights at a participating Disney resort. Must also purchase a 5 day Magic Your Way park ticket.

So, it seems you need to either get a 6 day or 5 day ticket..

IMO- this deal is not fair for AP holders, last years was much much better..

I received the same email but I think you read the information incorrect. the room only discount would be "in place" of the 7 for 4 deal if one should become available not both.

I think until Disney has it on their site there is going to be discrepancy. Touringplans.com has it as this:
The deal is Buy-5-Get-2-Free at values and B-4-G-3-Free at mods and deluxes.

We’re told that tickets have to equal the number of nights of your stay, so annual passholders can’t buy one-day tickets. This may change, as we’ve not heard from an AP holder yet who has taken advantage of the deal.

I agree that it stinks for AP holders, but like others have mentioned you can still apply it to an AP upgrade. I'm sure Disney is doing it this way to avoid many only getting the 1 day tics (like AP holders) & saving on the cost. I for one don't care for how it seems to punish those who stay at the values, but I know Disney is about money, and they are hoping to make a buck no matter who they penalize. ;)

But, there's no extra cost to getting the 7 day ticket instead of the 4 or 5 day ticket so you might as well get the 7 day one.

:lmao: That's what I meant... just that you have to PAY for the 4 or 5 days (or 5 or 6 like another poster mentioned), not pay for the 7. ;)

Joan1, I don't think I read the MouseSavers info incorrectly. But I got it from their website, not from the e-mail they sent.

You can check it out yourself on their website, under "Disney World Resort Discounts"..."Room Only Reservations Vs. Packages." Here is the info quoted word-for- word:

"now when discounted room rates come out in low season, those discounts are usually applied to special package offers, too."

Maybe I am misreading this statement, but it seems to sat that you can piggyback offers.

What do you think it means?

I know I asked this already but I forgot on which thread...lol!!

I called yesterday to get a price for Feb with the 4/3 in mod. The cm told me you had to get a min of 5 day base tickets. Does anyone know is that right? :confused3

Hey girl. Copied straight from the WDW site just now:

Enjoy 3 additional nights
with tickets — FREE

When you purchase this 4-night/4-day Magic Your Way package at select Disney Moderate, Disney Deluxe or Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, you get 3 more nights with tickets, free.

For just $61 per person per day for a family of four in a standard room, that's a total package price of $1,691 for a family of 4 at a select Disney Moderate Resort for stays most nights 11/01/09 - 11/24/09.

So, you need to have a 4 day park ticket. Talk about mass confusion!!

Thanks Chickie!!! I didnt think you had to buy 5 days but was busy with kids and didnt want to get into deep discussion, not that 4/5 makes a difference, I actually only wanted 1 day as have my one days from July.

Hee Hee...this was the thread I posted on, it was up a bit further...Ok so if I want 7 days I actually have to say 7 days? But will only pay for 4 or 5? I have 4 1 day passes that I dont think we will be using as my kids dont want to do Disney next year....5 yrs in a row is enough,so thinking of going somewhere else. I know you cant conbine them. Was hoping to use them if DH and I go in Feb!!!!!!!:confused3

Crazy lady! If you stay at a mod or higher up, you pay for four night accomodations and four day ticekts. The other three days are thrown in for free.

The four 1 days from your POP trip this summer, did you purchase the non expiration benefit or were they base tickets only? If they were base tickets only, they are no longer any good. They are good for 14 days only.

LOL!!!! Ok!!!!!!! Hoping to go just the 2 of us in Feb as dh gave up coaching hockey after 25 yrs. Well..............my sons coach has been asking him to come on the bench and he has been on the last 2 games. Anyway if he stays on the bench they will be in playoffs in Feb and will not be able to go....I can dream can't I ........lol!

The 4 1 days are not non exp but they have not been used. I did a split ressie so I got 10 days for the first week and then had to get 1 day. We did not use the 1 days.

That would be a great vacation for the two of you! Wow, that must have been a hard decision to give up coaching. Sure you can dream. Nothing wrong with that! LOL

The four 1 days passes are duds now, I'm afraid. You had 14 days to use them. Sucks, I know. But unless you purchased the non expiry option, you have to use them within 14 days. When we were there in March, we were sick in bed the entire trip and weren't able to get to the parks. Before we left, we had to purchase the non expiry option so we didn't lose them. Major beef of mine.

Edit to add: this is incorrect information!! Continue reading...

This is incorrect. Tickets are valid for 14 days FROM FIRST USE. Until they're used once, they're good forever.
