OK, so maybe I didn't have to drag them all....my 2 kids were more than willing, and at 22 and 20 they are not really kids any more but are still kids at heart! And they are willing to hang out with their old folks if we are paying and going somewhere fun!!

And my wife was a willing participant but she was the least thrilled about Disney of the 4 of us as she is not really a DIS'er. But it was my 50th birthday and that is what I wanted to do so she smiled and came along....and may just have had some fun along the way!!

We are active travelers, enjoying all types of travel including land based trips, cruises and ski trips (thus my DIS name) however it had been 15 years since we had been to WDW (how did that happen?). I have done WDW at least 6 times and we all did DL 6 years ago on a California trip.

This was very much a last minute decision which we booked only 3 weeks prior to going. We chose Animal Kingdom Lodge (previous stays were at Caribbean Beach and POFQ) which was a great choice with the exception of being right on the edge of the property which resulted in some longer bus trips. Disney was nice enough to upgrade our parking lot view room to a Savannah view which we totally enjoyed!!! We stayed July 25-29, 2013 and it was very hot and humid. The forecast before we arrived was rain all day every day....in the end we had a total of an hour of rain!

I am a planner by nature so it was an intensive 3 weeks and that is when I found this board!! Thank you all for all the info you gave me while I was lurking here! We were only there for 4 nights, did 3 parks, and had 6 ADR's (including BOG so for those trying last minute it can be done if lucky!).

Now is my time to pay it forward...I typically do photo intensive reviews and I am in the process of adding our WDW trip. I hope you enjoy and I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have. You can access our review below but remember it is still in process so keep checking back for more updates:

Thanks again for all the info we found on these boards and you truly helped make our trip a great one!!

Disney is a great place to celebrate 50! I am planning the same next year. I enjoyed the trip report so far and the pictures.

Boy you had a full day at the Magic Kingdom! Rope drop through Wishes is impressive!

Thanks CATigger! DW was a great spot to celebrate 50 and to prove it really is just a number. We walked 30 miles in the 3 days according to my fitbit so were are not slowing down yet :thumbsup2

Hopefully more on the TR later today....

Thanks Becky and yes it was a full day....but that is what happens when you only really have 3 days at the parks. We maxed our time but didn't exactly relax :crazy2:

Enjoy your trip!!!!

Our morning at Tusker House and photos from the Safari have now been added!! More to follow later.....

I have now updated our morning at AK and added a bunch more pics!

Hi Jerry,

Looks like you kids had a wonderful time on your bday trip to WDW. I loved looking through your photos and I can't wait to go back through them again. Thanks for taking the time to write up your experience and take such amazing photographs and then share them with us!!

Happy Belated Birthday! My hubby is born the last week of July...he's such a charming Leo :flower3:

Anywho, I hope when our kids are in their 20s they will still want to vacation with us. Time goes so fast, I know they'll be in college before I can blink. In fact, I hope they will always come "home" to spend quality time with me and the hubster.

Great memories and great post!!!

All the best to you and yours! :wave2:

Hi Shea&Van!, thanks for the comments and the birthday wishes. Yes we had a great time and it truly is amazing how fast the kids grow up! Each trip we take these days we feel may be the last as a family but so far the kids keeping joining us and we all have a great time!

Happy belated to your husband, a fellow Leo!!

Glad you enjoyed the review and I hope it assists others with their trip planning. I found this site only recently but there will be a Disney cruise somewhere in our future so I will continue my research on the DIS!

All the best to you as well and happy planning for your holiday trip....we always thought a trip at Christmas would be great!

Dinner at Sanaa has now been added! Good news is we had a window seat looking out at the Savanna, bad news is it was late and dark :confused3

Enjoy!
