90 Day Fiance?

I'm not a big reality show person at all (though I love Out of the Wild and wish they'd make more), but I watched an episode of 90 Day Fiance and was hooked. I think Kirlyam and Aya are so sweet and seem so genuine.

Anyone here watch the show?

I think kirlyam is the only one in it for the right reason.

I believe Aya is trying to make things work but Louis is just not to her liking. He could have at least cleaned the house!

I think Paola is a gold digger and I really hope fiancé isn't as naïve as he seems. Any man who thinks they're going to turn a girl into a rabid football fan, especially a girl from a foreign country where they don't play football at all, has a screw loose. They seem to be polar opposites in many, many way. At the moment he seems to be riding his white horse straight to the poorhouse. Of course, he may be fine with that if he gets to take her and her big you-know-whats.

I am suspicious of Aziza because something just doesn't smell right. She couldn't get a work visa, so she finds herself a passable bachelor willing to get her out of Russia. Her English is flawless with an American accent when she is just talking for the camera, but she has an accent and trips over words when she is with other people. I think her future MIL is going to be very difficult for her. I also wonder if she has an eating disorder. She has yet to eat in front of anyone, including the fiancé. I find her particular fiancé a little bit creepy.

Kirlyam seems to be very sweet and very young. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that she is younger than she says. She seems to genuinely love her fiance and he is very gentle and kind with her. I think the whole "be a model" angle is totally contrived. I mean, she's been in the country less than 2 months and already she's got a hot modeling contract? Seriously? How did she get a work visa?

Of all the fiancés I like Aya the most. I think she may be older than some of the others and she seems to have her head on straight. I feel bad for her that she's marrying into that screwy family. The parents seem to exercise very little discipline over the children and the ex-wife seems to have a lot of control over the ex-husband. I felt sorry for Aya when she found her beautiful second-hand wedding dress and her fiancé turned it down flat because it was going to cost $1200 total. He thought the veil and the alterations were too expensive. Obviously, he has not seen Say Yes to the Dress. Aya needs to pay attention to that because I believe this will become a recurring theme with this guy: he seems like a cheapskate.

ETA Actually the guys are all a little weird, in one way or another imo.
And I agree, Aya seems like the only normal female in the group. Kirlyam does look really young and she seems sweet but very naïve. We shall see!

They met when he was on a mission, that happens after high school when a Mormon is 18, is that right? She was (according to their current stated ages) 10 when he was 18. He kept coming back until she was an age where he could marry her. That is WEIRD to me!

I'm guessing he was done with college when he did his mission. I'm sure he spent a significant amount of time studying Portugese before he left as well. A friend dated a guy who was learning Italian before he left for his mission. They aren't all 18 when they leave.

As for Aya, I'm not sure her fiance is cheap exactly...I just think he doesn't make a lot of money and pays child support. Not cheap, just doesn't have money. As that is the case, him flying to The Philipines to get her wasn't the smartest decision financially.

Aziza, I still don't know what to make of the two of them. His mom is going to be a problem for sure. And the time the girls took her for practice hair, why weren't they with her? That was rude and mean. She feels isolated.

Paola, oy vey! She likes nice things. I'm guessing he makes good money when he's working as an oil pipeline engineer or whatever he is. But he has to work!

Kirylam: her man seems so controlling and jealous! When she was doing that photo shoot and she didn't answer the phone, he looked like he was going to lose his mind! Then immediately after lets get married asap. Very controlling!

I haven't seen the show, but I've seen it in real life! At every Embassy and Consulate where we were stationed, the local females were all over our Marine Security Guards. We attended several of these weddings while overseas, and I know of only one that is still intact. A friend of mine actually overheard a local girl say that she was only marrying the Marine to get a green card! Don't know if friend passed info on to said Marine, but I do know that the girl did indeed get her green card and they are indeed divorced. So sad.

I also am hooked on the show. I just don't see any of these marriages lasting. I can't recall everyone's names, but I see huge issues with each "couple".

I'm dying for the finale which is next week. I've tried googling the show and NOTHING!!!!

I think Kirlyam and her husband will make it. They really seem to be a love match, more than the others. Even though he comes off as controlling he really is very solicitous of her, helping her understand the culture and improve her English. And his family is so supportive and has just welcomed her in as one of their own. I'm not seeing that with the others.

I think Paola is just about ready to walk. I think she saw $$$ and thought she had hit gold. Life isn't exciting and glamorous enough for her here in the States, and this guy is pretty milque-toast. I can't imagine how much money he's already spent on her wardrobe and that apartment.

If Aziza manages to go through with her wedding, it won't be long before she's on a plane back to Russia. Her MIL is a piece of work and there just seems to be a disconnect between her fiancé and her. Aziza looks more and more miserable each week.

I'm not sure if Aya will go through with it. She's getting a real education from the ex-wife. I don't think she was prepared for how much child support would take from the budget, requiring them to live a pretty limited lifestyle. There's lots of ways to be romantic without spending any money. Her fiancé doesn't take her out or try to woo her in any way.

I know one "mail order bride" from Russia. She was about 30 and she met her fiancé when he was on business in Russia. He swept her off her feet and they had a whirlwind courtship. They set to work emailing and next thing you know, she's moving to the U.S with her 8yr old. The man was about 14 years older than her and became very possessive very quickly. He became verbally abusive. He had an issue with pornography. She got pregnant and he was absolutely furious! He got physically abusive with her during the pregnancy but she would never leave him because she was raised to "stand by her man" no matter what (she's Russian Orthodox.) He started physically and verbally abusing the son, who by then was in his mid-teens, and the boy ran away. It wasn't until he began hitting the little one that she finally got tired of it. She wanted a divorce and he kicked her to the curb. No job, no money, wouldn't pay child support and she didn't know how to navigate the legal system. She was terrified of being deported. I don't know how she made it through, honestly, except for the kindness of members of her church. She hasn't talked much about being Russian bride, except to say that she would never have done it if she had known the man better.

Thankfully, she got on her feet. The older boy came home and got on his feet. The ex has continued to try to bully her via the younger child, but she has taken him to court to limit visitation. She eventually remarried to a guy who is absolutely wonderful for her and her children. Thank goodness she finally found real love!

I accidentally ran into the marathon yesterday and dvr'd them. Haven't watched the finale yet but wanted to read what the thread said!

The model on Maybelline comml LOOKS like Kirlyam but is not her. She's Emily Didonato and she's been around for years. She DOES look a lot like Kirly, though.

I don't know how any of them will do in the future, so much of it seems so contrived for the camera. I was so disgusted by Mike's family and ex wife, if I was that woman I'd SWIM back to the Phillippines!!

She is awesome - love her! Poor thing stuck out in the country. She needs a nice 50+ year old single guy from NYC to take her on. And I think she'll find him! I think the Russian just wants out of Russia (her fiance is a dud), and Mormon dude is a little scared of losing someone who is too young, and too attractive, for him.

I, too, would be swimming back to the Philippines - it seems like she got too fat to hang with the other ladies in her country (not that she's fat), and has no choice but to come to America, where it's okay to have an extra 10 pounds or so. And in return, she gets Mr. Wonderful (not), and his well behaved boys, and lovely ex-wife. That's what you get for eating the extra cookies...
