Our Trip to T-Rex was quite the surprise. In fact, we had planned to eat at Earl of Sandwich, as it was our first night in town and we were pretty tired. Our Aunt and Uncle were in town that one day (pure coincidence) so we had planned to meet up with them. Well come to find out, they wanted to treat us to anywhere we wanted to eat!!!

We chose T-Rex as I knew it was a new restaurant and it really looked like fun. We arrived and checked the wait times. They told us 40 minutes :scared1: but thankfully it was more like 10.

The restaurant had so many neat things to look at. We loved the ice cave though were glad we weren't sitting in it, as I think it would have felt a bit like an acid trip. :hippie:

We were seated near the ice cave in a calm little corner. The Dinosaurs roared at their leisure though every twenty minutes would go off in unison. It was cute the first couple times, especially with the flashing lights and thunder. After a while though, I could've sworn my Aunt and Uncle were getting a wee bit annoyed.

While I was too embarrassed to take pictures of our food at this meal, I did get a couple of the restaurant. Our Aunt and Uncle live far away from us so we're not close enough to share the love of food porn. Sorry. ;) My two sisters and I all had the chicken fried steak and absolutely loved it! It was a huge serving and was tender and super tasty. Honestly, this is not a meal I would normally eat but I could have this every week and be happy. I'd say everyday but i'll save the other six for a Le Cellier steak! :cloud9:

Here's what I have from inside the restaurant. Sorry, not the best quality!

Good food, decent price, fun atmosphere and not a long wait.
I'll give this 3 dancing banana's out of five:

Sounds like you had fun there. I'd like to try out T-Rex too. We'll see how it fits into our plans.

Can't wait to hear of your other reviews. You are going to a few that we picked also. :thumbsup2

Our original plan for this evening was the Spirit of Aloha Luau but unfortunately they were calling for high winds. We decided to go ahead and take the two credits and use them for two other meals rather than strive to reschedule. One of our choices ended up being the Whispering Canyon Cafe. Surprisingly, it turned out to be one of our favorite meals!

We all lived in Alaska for part of our growing up years so love the outdoors. The WL theme was right up our alley. We loved the woodwork, totem poles, rocking chairs, and fireplaces. Wow, what a gorgeous resort!

We arrived a little early so took our beeper and explored a bit. The wait time wasn't more than ten minutes so by the time we settled down into a comfy seat, we were up and seated at our table!

While the restaurant is a bit noisy, it wasn't even close to as loud as T-Rex. In fact, we kind of like the sounds of all the children laughing and having a great time with the wait staff.

Our waitress was wonderful. She was attentive, funny, and gave us just enough space to where we didn't feel smothered but always had our plates full and our drinks filled. Speaking of drinks, check out these babies!!!

The unlimited, delicious shakes are more than enough reason to go here! They were so good, I cannot even describe it to you.

We decided to go with the skillet dinner with unlimited ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, salad, cornbread... I think there's more but I just can't remember!

The salad: Sorry it's partially eaten, I told you I had a hard time remembering to take photos before eating!

Cornbread:

The Skillet. Aah, that's what I forgot, corn and cowboy beans!

The food was all soooooooooooo good! We especially liked the brisket, ribs, and chicken. We gobbled so much of it down. Originally we had agreed to keep eating skillet after skillet but honestly never made it through the first!!! It was a lot of food and filled you up quickly.

I had read on here about the ketchup shenanigans at this place and had Jamie ask for Ketchup. Here is the result:

She was so embarrased, it was great!

The stick pony rides were so cute. It was fun watching the kids have so much fun.
LauraDisney144.jpg

I was surprised by the hokey pokey outbreak. You guys never told me about this; how cute and funny! I got video of Jamie and Brenda doing it and will need to upload it for you. They'll kill me but that's okay. :lmao: Here they are in action: Brenda started with the macarena but caught herself:

We had such a great time at this restaurant and can't wait to go back. It's already on our list for the next visit. I think we laughed harder here than anywhere else!

I give this 5 out of 5 dancing bananas!   :banana:

Thanks for joining in! Hope you enjoy the rest of the reviews. I found reading everyone's so helpful when choosing where to go!

I really am enjoying your reviews so far. Did the dinosaurs in T-Rex Roar? When we were at DTD and walked past there my little 4 year old was scared of the place. It looks really neat inside:thumbsup2

Thank you for your reviews and I am enjoying your pictures!

Yes, they roar and move. Pretty amazing features for a restaurant! It is really quite loud; older children would love it though some younger kiddos might get scared. It's a very neat place; not the best for conversation but great for families looking to be entertained by their surroundings! Plus, many photo opportunities!

Sorry, I told you i'd be out of order!

The next day we decided to try Toy Story Pizza Planet for our counter service meal. I'd heard it is the most decent pizza on site and the atmosphere sounded fun. Plus, we had just ridden our new favorite (but oh so crowded) ride, Toy Story Mania! We were so sad it was too busy to ride again. Grrr.... but I digress.

By the time we made it to Pizza Planet we were starving. We had to wait a few minutes because it hadn't opened. Surprisingly, we weren't the only ones longingly looking at the menus praying someone would arrive to take our orders.

Soon, we had all grabbed our combo meals. We aren't very diverse in our taste buds so each ordered a pepperoni pizza, side salad, and dessert. Brenda was the only weirdo who chose chips instead of dessert; Jamie and I both got a Mickey Rice Crispy Treat.

LauraDisney169.jpg

This was a very good counter service decision. The salad was a nice healthy, and refreshing break from our already junk-filled stomachs (only our second full day and I was thinking that!). Sorry, I forgot to take the lid off for the pic!

LauraDisney172.jpg

The pizza was a step above Bobolli which was fine with us. The crust was airy and light; the cheese and pepperoni uber delicious. If you don't like saucy pizza you may not enjoy it, but we thought it was great.

LauraDisney170.jpg

And of course, I LOVED my first Mickey Rice Crispy Treat!

Another nice discovery here was the iced tea. For those like us who don't like sweet tea too much, almost all counter service places had unsweetened iced tea with/without lemon. It was great!

Here are a few more pictures of the restaurant

The arcade was fun but quite overpriced

We'll give it a four out of five dancing banana rating in the counter service category!

So after a fun and full day at the parks, we were starving! Our ressie for Liberty Tree was at 5:30 but we were so hungry we tried earlier. Thanks be to God they got us right in at 5pm! :cool1:

I can imagine the disappointment many feel over the loss of characters at this place. Knowing what use to be was kinda a bummer. :sad2: It would have been so much more fun with a colonial Minnie Mouse!

Oh well, that was fine; at least there's food! Brenda did not get turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas so was really looking forward to this meal. The waitress brought our drinks and salad out almost immediately. It took us mere minutes to gulp the salad down and the second our plates were empty, the feast began!

LauraDisney193.jpg

Unfortunately, this is one of those times I warned you about where I ate then realized I forgot to take pictures. I'm so sorry I missed the turkey, mac and cheese, potatoes, stuffing, salad, and green beans. They were good, not great, but definitely good.

By the time we had gorged ourselves silly, the apple cobbler and ice cream came! This was honestly my favorite part of the meal. After the workout of walking the parks, I was craving some ice cream!

LauraDisney191.jpg

Honestly, while it was a good meal, it wasn't anything to write home about. Guess that may be part of the reason we forgot pics up until dessert! You could tell the mac and cheese was stouffers and the meal didn't have that "I love making you so much" feel. A little more love, and it could've earned four dancing bananas. With what it was though, i'll give it three. It was tasty, it filled us up, but it wasn't that memorable.

Our Ohana breakfast was a last minute add on. In all our ADR making, I never stopped to consider one morning we may actually want a real, fattening, delicious breakfast! So, I contacted my amazing travel agent and gave her a few names of places I heard were good. My top choice was Ohana, and hallelujah they had an opening!

Our reservation was for around 9:30am as we wanted to rest a bit and not feel rushed. The trip from the Pop was quite relaxed and allowed us a chance to wake up. It was our first time visiting the Poly and my oh my, that is a gorgeous resort! One day I would love to stay there.

As usual, we arrived a bit early but it was no problem at all. In fact, they grabbed us even before we got our pictures taken!

We were seated right along the "parade path" which was fun as we could watch the kids and characters interact. Our waitress was fantastic and funny. Anytime once of us declined a refill or more food, she still brought it! It was lighthearted fun and even though we were stuffed we still ate. Finally though, we had to give a "serious turndown" before we exploded! :worship:

The first thing they brought out to us was the basket of different breads (including the DELICIOUS pineapple one). She explained what each one was and why it was served. We loved the educational component to the meal!

We then had a plate of delicious fresh fruit including watermelon, pineapple, honeydew, cantalope, and grapes. It was fantastic!

The big platter of warm foods was wonderful. We loved the sausage and bacon the most, though the potatoes and eggs were good too!

The best part about this meal was the character interaction. We ended up with two character meals the same day, with Chef Mickey's at dinner. I have to say Ohana does a fantastic job! :thumbsup2 The characters really stopped to interact and it did not feel rushed at all. There was no real wait time but they did give us a break to eat in between. Really, this was just a relaxed and wonderful way to begin our day.

Brenda didn't smile in her first picture with Stitch. Here she is making her case to him!

All in all, we give this place five out of five dancing bananas. Our Ohana experience couldn't have been any better!!!

I followed your trip report to find your food report....I'm loving both. Looking forward to your next updates.
