Just thought I would pass along some of my comments after staying at the Yacht Club from 9/30 - 10/8. This was my first visit to the Epcot area hotel section.
I realize the list of "bad" items below is lengthy, but I guess you tend to notice those things more, especially when you are paying $400+ per night. In summary, the resort was great and I would consider staying there again. The price differential between here and a moderate is steep, so I'd have to consider carefully.
The GOOD:
* Stormalong Bay is everything you read about - sand play areas, sand bottom, great slide, many hot tubs to choose from.
* Lifeguards were very nioce and quite personable
* Ability to walk to Epcot or HS is great
* Buses - yes I said it! Contrary to the posts I read about before my visit, the longest I waited for a bus was 6 minutes to or from a park. It was great!
When compared to BC, it is very quiet. BC seemed like a zoo, many times due to crowds waiting for the character buffets at Cape May.
* All the staff was courteous and not in your face.
* Size of the room was great, esp. compared to moderates.
* Room was cleaned well each day
* Garden view was OK - probably not worth the increase in price
* Balcony was a nice size and there were separators so you did not have to look at the people next door.
The BAD:
* Why would they schedule the salon, health club, and Hurricane Hanna's all to be closed at the same time? This was very frustrating having to go to the BC Marketplace.
* Resort shop - very limited resort themed merchandise, especially compared to BC. No men's golf shirts that say Yacht Club except 2XL and above.
* Maybe they do this during peak seasons, but maybe open the pool earlier or keep it open later (hours were 10am-10pm). Not everyday, maybe 1-2x/week.
* When the resort got busy during Columbus Day wkend, the pool was crowded. There were only 1 (maybe) 2 people taking drink orders for all these people. They could have used 2 more people to handle demand.
* We were in Room 3222 and it is a L-O-N-G way from the elevator. For those concerned with this, you may want this to be requested on your ressie. It didn't bother us too much, but prevented trips to the room while sitting poolside.
* Only recd towel animals 2 days despite leaving mousekeeping tips each day. Plus the last day there was a cigarette butt outside our door. That was gross!
* Concierge was not sure the best route to get back to the resort after the 6pm showing of the Hoop Dee Do. Another time my daughter asked to look at the pin book and 1 cast member said now is not a good time. She said it with a smile, but seemed annoyed. Plus, there was 1 person at the counter and she was not even assisting that person.
* There maybe on, but I could not find a Photopass viewing section. If there is not one, they need to get one.
* Slider to the balcony is on its last leg - we could close it and then had to push the top part of the door to get it to shut completely so it could lock.
* I could not understand why some times around 9pm certain parts of the pool would close even though lifeguards are still watching those.
* Why charge people to use the tubes for the lazy river during the day? We are paying $400+ per night and have to pay another $2 to use a tube for an hour or $10 for the day.
