Ethan is 5 going on 30. :rotfl2: Usually he spends the weekend with my Parents, but this weekend he decided to stay with me. When asked why, he said his "head and heart" told him I needed him. Can't fight those words.

He asked me to tell him a story at bedtime. So I asked how about I sing him a song that I use to sang to him as a baby. He was like sure. So I did a few verses and his eyes were closed, he was breathing deep. Me thinking he was asleep stopped singing. His eyes popped open and he said is that it? I told him no, do you want me to keep going? He said Na, don't waste your energy. :rotfl2:

Amlee,

So adorable!!!! Now that's what makes kids so worth it; even if at times they are so dead on. :goodvibes

...And then they turn into teenagers. :furious:

See ya soon!

Happy Belated Labor Day!!!!

I am still packing, I thought I finished packing last night, but it looks like that I just can't throw everything into the suitcase. I actually have to pack for 10 days, not 10 weeks. :rotfl2:

Michele has finished packing herself and Shelby... besides little things here and there. Can't believe it is time to go already. We fly out tomorrow night (Red-Eye). Happy travels to everyone!!!

Steve

Steve,

Another adorable pic of Shelby!!! :teeth: Can't wait to meet all of you. Have a safe and restful redeye!!! :lmao:

LOL I call the pre-teen/early teen the B with an itch in training stage! :rolleyes1 I have one neice that is just starting that stage. I'm not so sure if she will live through it.

it is almost time! I am wishing the time away. Now i am off to get a pedicure to prepare for the trip! i have to ahve cute toes for all the sandals i will be wearing!

Good afternoon,

Did some errands today...time is suddenly going by soooo slowly. Tomorrow I get nails taken care of...

Got a Disney shopping box today....mostly clearanced stuff to put away for Christmas...but I was short one shirt...I have been on hold with them now for over 15 minutes. At least the music is good ;)

I read that TD#6 is now TS Florence...darn...now if it would only take that sharp turn due north and stay out in the Atlantic.

Hopefully the shuttle will still go off Weds. as planned...

hmmm,
i've got a question.....
i booked an excursion for each of the islands that would allow our entire party ( we have 3 kids under 6). i called DCL today and incidentally asked about the excursions and was told that most of the excursions probably would not allow a car seat and that there was no guarantee that there would even be seatbelts on the buses/vans (whatever). i have a 1 year old. there is no way i am travelling with her in any moving land vehicle without her car seat- i just don't feel safe. the DCL rep told me that each island has there own set of rules, so car seats may not be mandatory on that island. well that's all fine and good, but i still don't want her travelling without a car seat. so now what do i do since i am "past" the 3 day cancellation period? there was no mention that car seats couldn't be accomodated and i chose these excursions specifically so she (nd my other children) would be able to come with us. i also have a double stroller and was told that i probably couldn't bring that either. my 4 year old has some mobility issues- he fatigues easily due to a metabolic disorder. there was also no mention of strollers not being allowed either.

HELP!

Thanks!

Hey Everyone, any idea as to what the plans for tropical night are?

Grass skirts?? :rotfl: NOT!

I have a matching dress for Ally and me...I am thinking that many on the ship will have the same one...lol....

I am not really sure where you would put a car seat - most of the island vehicles have wooden benches for seats and no seat belts. I'm not sure how much safety would come from having a car seat in that situation. If you feel that you really don't want to go on the excursions, they may let you cancel without penalty of they can find someone to take your place.

I'm not sure what DCL will do for you. Very rarely will you even find a cab with seat belts. Most of these islands are still considered 3rd world and seat belts and car seats are not thought of. I rode in one cab, that the door wouldn't even shut and was closed with a binge cord so it wouldn't swing open. I've seen them take strollers before, but like the CM said, it's not a promise on that either. Like it was posted earlier they might work with you on this, but if your not willing to move across land without a car seat. Your pretty much left with nothing to do.

I suggest that once you get onboard the ship, go over to the Excursion Desk area and let them know about your concerns. They will be more willing to cancel your reservation if you are standing in front of them explaining your concerns.

BTW, vehicles on the islands are much different than here in the US, and in many cases, will not have safety restraints, etc.

Good luck.

We have never used a car seat on any excursions with the kids. heck, even in WDW...the buses don't have them...I don't recall even seeing restraints on the buses on the islands either....

I know umbrella strollers are easily brought on the buses/vans. I don't think a double stroller would have fit on any of the buses/vans that we've been on for excursions. We bring a Mac for our 5dd -- she is small for her age and so she has short legs. :)

re: the carseat --- If you brought one you would then have to carry it around on any tour you did. You would not be able to leave it on the bus/van because chances are that it would be a different bus that picked you up and that bus may well have other passangers between. fwiw

I wonder if that "Taste of the Caribbean" that Steph posted about might be something they do for that night. Which would be cool!!
