I would head for Downtown Disney if I had a few hours to kill.

We are arriving in Orlando on Wednesday afternoon. We are thinking of driving over to WDW area before heading to Canaveral for the night. Can anyone suggest things we can do around WDW that does not require a park ticket?

Thanks

Well, there's always Downtown Disney... at which you could also hop a shuttle bus to visit one of the nicer Disney resorts (my favorite is Wilderness Lodge).

Disney Outlets

If you have never been to the Disney Outlets, they are always interesting and fun. I'd also suggest going to Downtown Disney and having a nice afternoon stroll down there.

Enjoy.

I hope work flys by for you. :wizard: DH has conference in Chicago Wednesday. I am just taking the train in with him so time goes faster. :teeth: I do not want to sit at home by myself. Wednesday late afternoon , I am going to a spa to get the works. Not that it will help, but time will go faster. :rotfl2:

I am so envious...spa treatments...and we're not even on vacation yet! Have fun!

All packed and ready to drive up to Calgary tomorrow after work. It only took 3 attampts to fit it all in (including the liquids and toiletries which are usually in my carry on!) :D I only had to remove 2 outfits which I really didnt need anyway, and if I hadnt bought new things this weekend - thinking they would be great for work after all would have been ok! LOL

Hope I am under the limits. I weighed it on my "oh so accurate" scale in my bathroom so heres hoping it is a bit more accurate with luggage than me! *giggle*

We decided to take a case of water with us so I have a 2nd little suitcase for that and our shoes :D :D :D We only have a couple of pairs each so t isnt too bad lol

Off to check my tv listings to set the VCRs to tape Big Brother, Survivor and Amazing Race...........yup, I lead an exciting life

We are going to miss the big brother finale! ugh! Who are you rooting for? I think Survivor doesn't start until we get back though...does it?

Southwest still has 3 person listed on their website and that's what I'm going by. We actually have extra room. We're checking seven pieces for three people to make sure I have room for some of the shipped items that need to come home with us (and any shopping...of course).

Well, Linda...take a deep breath...it's going to be OK. And I was so looking forward to those cheese curds (smile).

DH saw that we could still take 3 on the Midwest web site too...but the small print said expires Aug 20, so he called and they confirmed - two checked bags. I think we have it covered with no loss of fish extender gifts...the only thing we lost is the curds! :teeth:

Downtown Disney would be my vote, too. I always start and end my trip there instead of paying for an extra day of park pass. That way I don't need to shop in the park.

When we used to bring the kids we would buy an autograph book the first day at DTD. Then I would tell each of them to keep track of the things they want as we make our way through the parks in th back two pages of te autograph book along with the location where it could be found. This stopped all of the "I want" "I want" "I want" throughout the trip because they always find something else they want. Then on the last night we go through the list and figure out what they really want and what was just a passing phase brought on by a ride leaving you in the middle of the store. If we could buy it at DTD, we would go buy it. If necessary, one of us would run and pick up the truly special gifts at the various park locations (love those hopper passes). The list at the back of the book also made a nice souvenir of the stage in their life or could even be used as a Christmas shopping list. I found this works better than saying you have x amount of money to spend. OK - Way more info than you asked for - oh well...have a fun time whatever you do!

I'm such a *itch, I would print out the page from their website and march right up with my three bags! If it is no longer correct, they should change it on the website. Southwest told me I could only have future travel credit when my fare was lowered and I rebooked at the cheaper rate. Well, about five minutes later and after a nice discussion with a supervisor, we had a $150.00 credit on our charge cards...not future travel. Oh well, as my Mom tells me all the time...I have too much nerve for my own good sometime:lmao: !

One of my favorite things to do is resort hop. Drive to one of the monorail resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, or Polynesian) and ride the monorail around and visit each one. Try to get PS for dinner at one of the restaurants.

Good morning everyone!

DH has been tracking TS 6 now and is so paranoid- I am glad I can show him that site now & hopefully he'll lighten up! :lmao: On our first cruise (granted it was in 1998 and on Princess) we were nearly re-routed and we were offered $$ back b/c of it if we were (totally different worry though- we cruised the Mediterranean and there was threat of bombings & etc)- wonder if DCL would do the same? :confused3

Mike is wearing a tux as well- he'll have 3 dates- so he has a lot of girls to impress :goodvibes

Anyway- I have the roster from Carol, and I think I am missing a few staterooms :

I think I am now rooting for Janelle. I cant believe I just said that out loud, but I really dispise (sp?) Boogie and Will has already won. Erika wont make it past this round unless she pulls a miracle out of her a$$ :D

Survivor premieres on the 14th and Amazing Race is on the 17th. We fly into Calgary on the 17th at 1155pm and then a 2.5 hr drive home. I have it taped to watch on Monday as I do the upteen loads of laundry :D

I love amazing race! i am so happy we have tivo now. i don't remember what life was like without it...

A few more tolitries in the bag and some last minute additons are in. I just need one carry on and the formals (which need to be picked up from the dry cleaners tomorrrow!). I can't believe it just one more day until we leave. Since my mom's b-day is tomorrow it should go pretty quickly. She is almost fully recovered today so she should be great for vacation. (Knock on wood that she didn't pass it to anyone else.)

I am so excited... I am dreaming of WDW and the cruise now at night. I could count in hours now!

Well, today has been very hectic. It was my moms b-day so I didn't leave her house until 9:30pm. Then I had to come home and pack. It is now 2:15am and I am finished packing. We are leaving at 7am so this will be my last post!!

See yall on the ship!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Linda,

That's a neat idea. It would certainly help some of our undecided kids who just have the itch to spend the money!!! We have ours "earn" their money before the trip based on good behavior and chores and helping out. Then they get to spend it when we get to WDW for vacations. When their money is gone, they are done shopping for the trip. Works well with five kids that all want something all the time! :rotfl: It's also interesting to see the spending patterns in young kids! For example, my 9 year old dd a few years back priced everything, subtracted it from what she had left, and moved on, until she found exactly what she wanted. Unlike the 11 year old who would have spent the entire amount the first day if I would have let her. :lmao:

We love downtown disney, and resort hopping too. There are cool shops with unique merchandise in the resorts to check out along with the themed scenery.

I don't know how you do it with kids. I had Ethan today and I couldn't do ANYTHING!! His wanting to "help" was just about more than I could take! :rotfl:

That is my 5dd!!! LOL!

Ethan is 5 going on 30. :rotfl2: Usually he spends the weekend with my Parents, but this weekend he decided to stay with me. When asked why, he said his "head and heart" told him I needed him. Can't fight those words.

He asked me to tell him a story at bedtime. So I asked how about I sing him a song that I use to sang to him as a baby. He was like sure. So I did a few verses and his eyes were closed, he was breathing deep. Me thinking he was asleep stopped singing. His eyes popped open and he said is that it? I told him no, do you want me to keep going? He said Na, don't waste your energy. :rotfl2:

Happy Belated Labor Day!!!!

I am still packing, I thought I finished packing last night, but it looks like that I just can't throw everything into the suitcase. I actually have to pack for 10 days, not 10 weeks. :rotfl2:

Michele has finished packing herself and Shelby... besides little things here and there. Can't believe it is time to go already. We fly out tomorrow night (Red-Eye). Happy travels to everyone!!!

Carol - I'm assuming you are flying. Are you allowed to pack the wine on your carryon??? I know some airlines will not allow ANY liquids due to the heightened security. :confused3
