Hi -- Mike and Brett here joining y'all and looking forward to meeting everyone. This is our 3rd Disney cruise. I'm flying in from Oregon (north coast) -- Brett from Upstate NY (near the Hudson River).

I just shipped my box to the port this AM -- a bottle of Oregon wine included for the "tasting" (though I'm not a wine drinker, I'm looking forward to the gathering!). Hopefully, Brett'll be bringing a bottle of NY wine, too.

Have to leave here on Tuesday in order to be sure of making the boat -- and since I'm at the wild and rocky/windy beach, there'll be family/friends coming to visit for Labor Day weekend. Tons of stuff to do/pack for the cruise over the next two days before I'm too busy w/nephews and BBQing...

Can't wait to hear the horn and watch the coast of Florida slowly slipping away.

With this being labor day weekend we have a lot of fun stuff goign on. I am trying to get most of the stuff packed before this weekend so that I can enjoy it all.

it is so funny that you are talking about undies! I learned from a story about my Aunt traveling cross country on a bus in only one pair of under wear to always pack extra! I also always make sure I have a clean pair or too with me. I have been stranded in denver and las vegas with out all my bags and the only thing to save me was several clean pairs in my carry on! In case a friend of Ernesto stops by I am prepared!

:rotfl2: Let me back up and explain, because me and my undies is a long running family joke. Ever time I would go on a trip, instead of packing the undies I already had. I found they packed better in their original packs. So each new trip I would go out and buy those cheap 3 to 6 in a pack at Wally-World. So after YEARS of doing this. I now have about 6 rather larger drawers full of undies. Now nobody knew this until my mother decided (while I was out of town) that I needed new furniture. (That's a story in itself) So she took my childhood bedroom suit back home and emptyed my chest of drawers and found my stash. Since then it's been a joke about me and my undies!

I am so frustrated at "Magical Express". I still have not received my ME luggage tags. My travel agent contacted ME and they were supose to overnight it to me last week and I still have not received them. I called them again and they said it is too late and that I can just leave my claim check numbers with them and they will still pick up the bags, regardless if they do not have the tags on them or not. I am not sure if I trust this theory and am afraid I will never get my bag to my resort. Do I trust her or do I lug 6 bags around with 2 little girls?

I am not sure what I would do, but like you I would be a little leary about just leaving the claim check numbers. I think there would be too much of a risk for losing them. Sorry you did not get your tags.

To be honest with you, I have heard some past nightmares about ME. I don't know how well they have worked out the kinks in things. This is my suggestion for you. I would get my checked luggage and take it to the ME area to take with you on the bus. (get a porter to help you with this) Explain that you never got your tags and they will do one of the two.

1. put your luggage on your bus with you and then a bellmen can help you at your resort with a cart.

2. take your information and write it on a tag that they have there and you will get it later.

BUT I have heard of people not getting their luggage until late in the night/early morning areas. I did not use ME the last time I was there, but the girl I roomed with didn't get her luggage until close to 10pm. So pack what you will need in the park or a day at the resort in your carry-on.

I mentioned this to Carolyn this morning and she said "don't remind me, I have so much to do". What more is there to do, I have 24 bottles of wine purchased and packed. Who needs undies? Alex

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

DH would agree with you!

YIKES :scared1: I would be a little scared.

Welcome Mike and Brett!

We are now just starting to get some rain here. Still hoping for the best! Thank goodness it is only going to be a tropical storm!!! My DD isn't even 3 yet and this will be the 4th named storm she will be going through!

Hi, All,
We've been pretty busy today. Working all day and coming home and finishing up prepping for Ernesto. It started raining here about 3:30 but not really bad. It is coming in bands. It's supposed to get bad in terms of rain towards midnight. School is called off tomorrow, actually let out at noon today. We don't have to report to work until noon tomorrow barring any problems with Ernesto.
We are hoping for the best.
Carol

To all of my friends in Florida, :tink: :tink: :tink: pixiedust: pixiedust: I'm sending lots of pixie dust. Stay safe and dry.

Ok, I thought I would add this here so some of yall would find it. In case they launch the shuttle on the day we sail this is what Disney told me about traffic and the ship sailing.

I just got off the phone with Disney after I saw the launch time frame. This is what I was told.

If you have arranged transfers with Disney they will not sail until all transfered passengers have arrived on the ship. The last bus leaves MCO at 1:45. If you arrive after that time frame you have to call Mears to arrange a shuttle. That number is 1-407-423-5566. They will let Disney know you are on your way.

If you are doing your on transportation than your own you own if traffic is blocked or anything like that. The ship WILL sail with out you!

Just thought I would give some of yall planning to drive in on your own a heads up.

Just in from NASA:

Atlantis Heading Back To Launch Pad

NASA managers have decided to roll the shuttle Atlantis back to the launch pad. It should arrive at around 8 p.m. EDT tonight. A new launch date is not yet scheduled.

The latest forecasts show Tropical Storm Ernesto is expected to weaken enough to allow the shuttle to ride out the storm at the pad.

Looks like NASA may launch this weekend, barring any complications from Ernesto.

Yeah, but what I read earlier said that it would take up to 8 days to get the shuttle ready, once they got it back up on the launch pad. So if they get it back out tonight that would put the launch either on the 6th or 7th.

At first I thought it would be cool to see and yes I still think it would be, but the traffic by far out weighs the coolness of seeing a launch. I would much rather watch it from the ship, then on the side of the interstate.

My real guess is Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. They really don't need 7 or 8 days. For each day that shuttle sits on the pad, it is burning HUGE BUCKS!!! I'm sure they will launch as soon as they possibly can. What they do need is clear weather, which isn't forcast until Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'd rather watch it on TV!

Just returned from COSTCO and they have a really good price on 1Gig cards for digital cameras.

Tinkerme1

Gary went to Costco and picked up 3 cards for me along with the rebates that went with them.

To all the FLA people Here is lots of pixiedust: and prayers for you guys.
