9.5 hours later.....Harry Potter book 5 is finished....

DH and I figured he would finish it before monday but never dreamed he would polish it off this quickly.

OH J.K. Rowlings!!! Could you get to work on the 6th book please???

That is AWESOME!! I so wish I was a reader. I admit all this HP talk has me so intrigued. I have tried and tried to read the 1st one but I just get all confused with the names and who is who LOL. I could be in reading it now, but nooooooo, I gotta read the DIS

I was looking at the latest harry Potter book when i was in the store today. It said it was the 5th in a series of 7.

Do these books go in order? I've never read any of them. Would I need to start with book 1 and read all the others to have any idea of what's going on in book 5?
If so, can someone please list the names of the other 4 books? Guess I may have a lot of reading to do while lying on the beach or lounge chair.

TEK224 - yes they do go in order. Our book arrived today in the mail (preordered it from Amazon.com and it arrived on the release day TODAY!). DD (age 11) is busy reading it as we speak. I am only permitted to touch it after she has finished.

I have a speed-reader kid too. He did it in 8 hours. Needless to say that other than take the puppy outside to go to the bathroom, he didn't do much of anything else. He re-read the last book Thursday and yesterday in "preparation" for this.

Jim is happy because he can now read it. I think I will have to read this series too to see what the hoopla is all about!

Yes read the books. They are really good and although the movies are great you get so much more of the story from the books. The movies to help in imaging the school though.

Each book is a year of Harry's life at school.

I'm about to start chapter 10. It arrived today about noon from Amazon and only got about an hour to read this afternoon and another 1 1/2 hours this evening. I'm busy all day tomorrow but should have it done by the end of the week.

I love her writing and I really missed Harry and the whole gang!

Got it yesterday, but I was so busy I didn't even have time to crack the book. I've been anxiously waiting its arrival, and my main mission today is to read the book! I plan to savor it, I want it to last!!

I'm like you Snoopy. I don't want to rush through. We leave for the beach today and it's already sitting in the car waiting for me. I have to say I was very suprised at how the first two chapters went.

Snuggs, I'm almost afraid to come to the DIS for fear of reading a spoiler -- JKR only comes out with these books every couple of years nowdays, once I'm done, the excitement will be over! We're also leaving for vacation next weekend and I plan to read it the entire time there.

Snoopy, I know what you mean. I've been so afraid that someone will let something slip and I'll find out more than I want to know. LOL After today I'll be far away from computer access and will be a reading machine.
