9/28/13. Disney Wonder 7 night Bahamian out of Galveston.

Hopefully all 3 staterooms show up. There are 8 people altogether. Getting excited about the fish extenders

Yep, I see all of them there on the sheet. There is a link in post #62 (page 5) to the sheet if you need to check what was entered.

I'm excited about the fish extender too. I started on my gifts this week, putting some sample things together already. I love crafting and never have anything to craft for, so this is a lot of fun for me. I buy a lot of my crafting items using sales and clearance items, so starting in advance benefits me a lot. When I have time to develop gifts using these more affordable items, I can give out more to everyone. :)

Hello I'm new to the forum. Just booked yesterday and so excited. My husband and our 7yr old princess will be on this cruise. Hoping to meet other travelers with a child around her age....?? She's an only child and would love to meet a few new friends on board. We have did Disney World the last two years in a row. So really looking forward to this. The gift exchange sounds like fun. Will have to look into it

Hope I posted in the correct place

We have an only son, who will have just turned 7 when we get on the cruise! So she won't be alone. Unlike some other boys, my son doesn't think girls have cooties... :lmao:

Our boy will be almost 7 when we cruise! He won't mind playing with a girl either!
He is also an only child!

Awesome!! What do you think about introducing them to each other online, so they will be excited to meet their new "pen pal" when they get on the ship? Or something like that? So they don't feel so apprehensive going to the kids club because they already "know" someone?

That sounds great! Our daughter plays and fits in very well with boys. Lol and is not afraid of them (unlike I was as a child) I agree would be great to get to do a meet and greet

Texaschic, my daughter will be close to your daughter's age! She will be turning 7 on the week of the cruise! I'm so glad that there's going to be another girl close in age!

YAY !! So excited to hear there is a girl her age. Look forward to meeting your family, TexMicks

Can someone explain the dining system on board? We've only been on a Carnival cruise, and that was ages ago and I'm certain their system is nothing like that on DCL. Are we assigned a restaurant to dine in eat night of the the cruise? If so, can we choose to eat at a different place than the one assigned?

Disney uses a concept called 'Rotational Dining' for dinner. In that system, you're assigned to a specific MDR (Main Dining Room) for each night of the cruise. Your serving team follows you around to each of the restaurants. On 'special nights' (such as pirate night, captain's gala, etc), each restaurant will serve the same menu. On "regular" nights, each restaurant has a unique menu: Animator's Palette serves something vaguely like Asian Fusion, Parrot Cay serves Caribbean inspired food, and Triton's is Americanized-French.

Your dining rotation will be denoted on your KTTW (Key to the World, aka stateroom) keycard with an alphabetic combination. On our first DCL Cruise, our rotation was APLAPLA; That means we had Animator's Palette the first night, Parrot Cay the 2nd, Lumiere's (the Magic's version of Triton's) the third, and then the sequence repeated. There are two seatings for dinner, regular (530ish?) and late (8ish?). If your assigned rotation or seating time doesn't work for you, you can attempt to change it upon embarkation; there should be direction given as to where to do so.

You cannot have dinner in an MDR to which you are not assigned that night. You can skip dinner in the MDR and enjoy the buffet, the quick serve places on the pool deck, order room service, or (for guests 18+) try and get a reservation for Palo for a $20 upcharge. Palo is a slamming dinner that I highly recommend. If you've got a kid, stick em in the club for the night and enjoy an adult dinner. Seriously. Do it. Thank me later.

I'm not sure if its the same on Wonder, but our cruise on Magic had a character breakfast on an assigned morning. Normally, your breakfast options are room service, the MDR noted in the Navigator, or the buffet. Lunch is the same way. Palo offers a brunch on sea days (iirc), also at $20.

That answer your questions? If not, fire away and we'll square you away.

Welcome! I have a 3 year old boy as well. Your boys will love it.

I see you signed up for the fish extender. Are the adults in your cabin one male and one female? I try to keep track of these things so my individual gifts are appropriate. I'd hate to give a man a necklace or something!

So excited to see more people signing in for cruise, and also FE's !
Can't wait to meet you all!:grouphug:

Anyone else scared of getting seasick?
I get carsick, 3D movie-sick, IMAX-sick, Planetarium-sick, and definitely smaller boats-sick.
So WHY did I sign up for a cruise ????!! :confused3

I get motion sickness in most of those places too. I occasionally have problems on cruises, but it has never been severe enough to really effect my good time.

On the Magic in February, I had an issue on a day with rough seas while watching Nemo 3D in the Walt Disney Theater (all the way forward and a bit bouncy). Probably not the BEST choice I could have made. I tried to eat lunch with my family but I couldn't sit upright anymore. I took some Dramamine and laid down for a nap in a cold, dark room while my family ate lunch. By the time they were finished, I was much better.

I think considering your background, talk to a doctor and see what they can recommend for you. Dramamine works fine for me, so I just make sure and have some with me. I'm pretty sure you can get it from the medical clinic on board if necessary, but I like to have it on hand because my motion sickness comes on quickly.

Your cabin location is a great choice. Whenever I've started to feel a little off in the past, I'd move to the center of the ship on a low deck (like the atrium-good for people watching and usually live music). This cruise I'll just go back to our cabin. :thumbsup2

Monimich just reminded me...

For all you newcomers, please try and get your post count up to 10 for us so we can communicate by private message if needed. Please jump in and ask questions, introduce yourself more, or join in discussions on other areas of the boards.

:) ok working on getting my coin up so that I can private message if needed. I think our group should create a FB group page in the near future so that we could all communicate on a more personal level before cruise. Kinda put names with faces and children with families? Get us more excited about the cruise?? this will be our first cruise.

We've had a request to include our children's favorite characters on the FE info sheet to allow further personalization of gifts.

This could be an individual character (Cinderella, Tow Mater, etc.) or more general if necessary (Princesses, Cars, Phineas and Ferb, etc.).

I've updated the questionnaire, but will need to collect that info from the following people who have already signed up:

Bellato4
Monimich
nte99
TexMicks
Folklore
texaschic
kenyasoto

You can PM me the info, post it here, or email it to me using the email address provided on the top of the FE sign up form. Thank you!

a little more about my family....we are very seasoned travelers, just never cruised. I'm more of a "hurry up n fly me to my destination vacationer" my husband has asked for a cruise fr the last 13 yrs. we are a family of 3. Im Shelly -35 my husband Jeff is 46 and our daughter Savannah is 7. Llast year we did mickeys not so scary Halloween party. the year before we did 14 days at Disney. Our princess began to hit us up once again for Disney. And once again my husband mentioned cruise. so I did a little researching and stumbled across the deal, also realizing this would likely be our last time to get by without adding on airfare. Since Disney will no longer be sailing out of Galveston. we live in East Tx and are about 3 hrs north of Galveston. We are SO excited to be taking this cruise and looking forward to meeting all you.
