OUr refund was posted to our Credit Card before we got home from the trip. I received news of our vouchers today.

we paid with cash (check) it seems a little unfair that all those who paid with credit card got refunds so quickly and those that paid with check have waited so long. was told one of the checks was mailed 10/15. glad you got your so quickly. :)

Very cool to hear that vouchers are arriving and checks are starting to go out. We have a cabin on hold for January, which the refund and voucher are going to pay for! Our refund will be going to the travel agency who we booked through. Our TA was in touch with Disney before we even got back and was told then it would take about 4 weeks. So we haven't been overly anxious.

It is a processing fact that checks take longer to do enmasse. The refunds to credit cards are sent out electronically and then the speed of posting depends on the credit card companies operation. Checks on the other hand require a bit more labor. Once the amounts are calculated, all of the information has to downloaded into a data base, amounts, names, address, travel agencies (when neccessary). Then the data has to be mail merged so that physical checks can be printed, which may or may not be signed at the time of printing. The physical checks have to be reconciled to the records to make sure they were cut correctly. I would bet most of this is done by an third party provider. Then the checks have to be stuffed and mailed.

So yes it's a little slower, but not unfair. After all we surrendered our money sixty days before we sailed and that was okay. If checks started going out on the 15th, we should be seeing them pretty soon. And I'm happy to hear that the vouchers are starting to show up as well. We can't wait to get back on board the Magic!

Thanks for the heads up!

Only one thing I wish DCL did regarding these refunds. Provide a statement accounting for them.

There were so many credits made to my card that I have not much of a clue what they were for. And on top of that I'm actually supposed to be getting credits for four different items .. not just the cruise fare refund. I have 15 separate credits right now.

I did get a revised statement mailed to me for my onboard account. They applied my $200 onboard credit a few days after we disembarked. This was in response to me telling them they didn't give it to me onboard. About two weeks later I received a revised statement. Now, that is neat to have for my records. I even wrote them a short thank you letter for that one. Gave them an A+ for that piece of homework. It even had a short letter with a real persons signature! Well, I think they are real. LOL

I paid by Credit Card and have not received refund or voucher yet!!!

Hey Darcy - how's Tony. Gosh, I hope it wasn't Palo's that got him sick!

We got our refund while we were still on the boat (9/30). We did pay by credit card.

We received our vouchers yesterday (10/21) for our next cruise that we can't use because our next cruise isn't going to happen by October 1, 2005.

Hope you guys are well.

Calvin

Hi Jeanne Team!

We have not yet received our voucher (funny, since we live 40 minutes from WDW), but the first (big) credit was issued to our card while we were still on the ship. I think we received a total of 4 credits, and while there was no accounting per se, they added up to 30% of our total cruise cost (which would be about 40% of cruise fare).

We did use a Disney Visa to pay for the cruise, so that may have been why we received the refund so quickly.

For those who rec'd the voucher, is the sail by date Dec. 2005?

Hope everyone is doing well!

Marcy

Hey Calvin,
saw your post on another thread-about your concern with the 25% voucher "bait and switch". I do agree, like we talked about, that the info they were giving out was not at all accurate and if it had been many people may have cancelled. we of course didn't even recieve that info from DCL, we only heard it from you. oh well, I sent my DCL letter and already recieved the generic form letter response. Wasn't expecting anything else, I just hope that they did indeed read it, maybe the info recieved from cruisers, can aid them in handling the next weather emergency. it is a shame that you can't use your voucher, and it will "go to waste" although Jenna thinks you guys should go so her and Caitlyn can have the full week together! LOL. we do have another cruise booked for 9/16/2006 special western through allseasons-all 4 of us cat 6 same room for 500.00 less than what we paid for the last cruise! tony is alright now, he wasn't impressed with Palo, after the fact-he is convinced that it was the food that got him sick! He had a nice evening though with all of you as did I! 2005 cruise will be without him though, I can't convince him to go that soon again, I am taking the kids myself. It is tough for him to try to get the time off-so we are ok with it, but he will be there for the 2006 cruise. hoping DCL will have their Hurricane Defense System in place by then!! :) tell Carlotta I will email her some very cute pics of the kids as soon as i can.

Marcy-the voucher is for sailing by 10/1/2005

My credit card received a large amount of credits in various strange amounts for the cruise. Finally, it added up to the correct amount, but it took a long time to get all those amounts posted.

The travel agency I used still has NOT sent my voucher although they did call and say it was in "their hands".

My travel agent has received our voucher, called it into DCL to be applied to our next trip on 9/24/05 and she has mailed the original back to DCL so the credit can be applied.

We also had our $ refunded to our Disney Visa while we were onboard. I agree, it would be nice to see an accounting of the refund. Meanwhile, we'll just "guess" that it's correct.

for any of you on the 9/25- 9/27 cruise that had the trip delay insurance have you filed a claim yet or what have you done. My insurance was through aaa and I have a form to fill out but have not sent it in yet. Any responses yet for you insurance.

Thanks for any replys

I just sent my paperwork to Access America for the 9/27 cruise delay. Sent in all my supporting documents and am hoping for the best.

I used my Disney Visa to book my cruise and still have not had any refund and still have not received my 25% voucher.

MJ

I faxed in our claim form and supporting documents (at least I hope all that we need) to Access Amercia on Wednesday. Actually this was the second time I faxed the paperwork, the first time the week before, but I failed to inlude a group number. Apparently without that, they just ignore the paperwork. Anyway a claim has been opened and the phone rep said it takes 5 to 7 days for review. I'll call next week to make sure they have everything they need to complete the review. I don't know how quickly after that a decision is made and if a claim is paid how fast that comes out.

Will keep everyone posted.
